"U Make Me Wanna" debuts on the Hot 100
2004 came close to being the first year since Mariah's debut in 1990 that didn't have a Hot 100 Single. Recently the focus has shifted to Mariah's lead-off single from her next studio effort but the biggest Mariah news on the Billboard charts is that her guest spot on Jadakiss' single, "U Make Me Wanna", finally makes its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 at #75.
As you may recall Mariah's last appearance on this chart was another guest spot but that time it was for Busta Rhymes' "I Know What You Want". That single spent three weeks at #3 (getting stuck behind 50 Cent's "21 Questions" (featuring Nate Dogg) and Sean Paul's "Get Busy"). "U Make Me Wanna" debuts one slot higher on the Hot 100 Airplay chart.
"U Make Me Wanna" also continues to make gains at R&B (and this is the reason for its Hot 100 berth) and reaches a new peak of #30 on both the main R&B singles chart and the R&B airplay chart. However the single unfortunately falls off of the Hot Rap Tracks chart after just one week.
Assuming the song continues to gain more airplay look for it to debut on the Top 40 Rhythmic chart possibly as early as next week. This week Jadakiss actually has a single that debuts higher than "Wanna" on the Hot 100. His guest spot on Ja Rule's "New York" debuts at #72. Ja Rule's other single, "Wonderful", reaches the top ten with a 13-9 move. (The Mariah Network)
