Mariah eyes April Fool's Day for new CD
Friday 18 January 2008
It has been quite a while since Mariah Carey unleashed her big comeback album, The
Emancipation of Mimi, in 2005. So fans are surely ready for a new effort from Mariah,
which is now set for an April 1 release date. The new CD, That Chick, will feature
production from Jermaine Dupri, will.i.am and Rodney Jerkins as well as collaborations
with T-Pain and Damian Marley, according to Billboard.com.
Among the 10 tracks are Pop tunes like "Lovin' You Long Time", ballads such as "Love
Story", and club bangers like "Migrate", which features T-Pain. There is also reportedly
a new sound for Carey on the Reggae-tinged "Cruise Control", which features Marley.
"It's kind of strange but I heard a lot of her records and it sound like the album is
better than the last album," Dupri told Billboard. In other news, Mariah is one of the
artists featured on Randy Jackson's first solo album, Randy Jackson's Music Club Vol. 1,
due March 11. The song boasting Mariah, "I Understand", also features Bebe Winans, Kim
Burrell and the Love Fellowship Tabernacle Church Choir.
