About nikki from usa:

Macy's spectacular is Idol 2 (38,343) by nikki from usa
It might as well be announced now. Mariah's taping her part of the event on the 27th for Macy's. 600 complimentary tickets are being given away now. Let's just hope when they play her part it's simply "as is" and not another cut, paste, and dubbed fiasco. If anyone's going, try to record it.

BET (38,328) by nikki from usa
Mariah's upping the promo machine. I've seen several commercials that MC will be performing with Miguel at the BET awards on the 30th. But, she'll be promoting The Art Of Letting Go on The View first. Exciting. Haters have been coming out in droves lately about her white bikini pics, really venomous things. I burst out laughing when they tried to claim her black bikini pics were photoshopped. Yeah, when I'm at home shooting pics and uploading them on my twitter account - I always use photoshop first. Lol.

Re: Radchad (38,293) by nikki from usa
I agree. I think it sounds like the title of an epic album. Although, in the past Mariah has done "working titles" which turn out not to be the actual title in the end. So, I guess we all just have to wait and see. The title reminds me of the type of songs Mariah's released in the past. Vanishing had more Mariah and less collabo. Then there's the song Mariah started writing right after her Thanksgiving Special in '93 which took 4 years to finish - Close My Eyes. Especially after having babies, you're forced to grow up in ways you didn't realize you weren't. This sounds all good to me.

Promo / Billy (38,258) by nikki from usa
After all this time, people don't give MC credit do they? Mariah's appearances have been promoting the single. After releasing the single to radio, download, and music video in the same week, she's been doing a live appearance almost every week since. There was AI, than Good Morning America the next week, she made a surprise appearance on the epic summer jam concert with Miguel the following week, and sang live at Tamara's wedding this week for a cool 3 million. Everytime she performs, every publication in America talks about it. Especially after she released the explicit version and video, just about ever major radio station talked about it. Singing live and getting people to talk is the biggest publicity you can have. You all forget, when she first comes out, she sings live at several shows, but doesn't do any interviews until it's time to promote the album. I would also have to include all these "behind the scenes" things she's been doing lately have featured on music channels, Entertainment News, and TMZ. There's lots of promotion. Billy, Mariah actually said it during one of her specials, shortly after it happened, that MTV was talking to Carson through his earpeice. So he knew she was coming out, but I don't know that anyone made a formal announcement about that to the public.

Re: Joachim Agerup Løkkevik (38,212) by nikki from usa
Mariah is the best selling artist as far as verifiable facts go. Mariah was the first artist to receive the Diamond Award because she was the first with factual stats to pass the 100 million mark in sales. Madonna's stats are based solely on shipments/certificates and not actual sales. To this day, Madonna hasn't sold that much. The RIAA gets its shipment numbers from the music labels and there was never a way to verify the honesty of those numbers. Record labels were known for inflating the number of sales for PR reasons which is why Soundscan was invented and other services like it. In the case of Madonna, she supposedly sold loads of albums until Soundscan started scanning than her sales dropped like a rock and stayed that way. The most obvious example would be her Immaculate Collection which was released in November of 1990. The label claimed it sold over 5 million before Soundscan which began March 1, 1991. In less than 4 months it supposedly sold 5 million. Soon after, her label claims it went diamond selling 10 million copies. But, Soundscan shows it took her nearly 20 years to sell those additional 5 million. Mariah's stats are verifiable where Madonna's simply aren't. Whitney suffered from a similar dilemma where Celine Dion didn't.

Memoirs tricks (38,204) by nikki from usa
I had forgotten how Memoirs was leaked 2 weeks before its release date. That seriously impacted how her sales did, since people were downloading it for free and they were never able to plug up the leak. It was one of her most critically acclaimed albums and I think it would have done far better otherwise. Because of what happened with Memoirs, I think that's why Mariah is being so secretive about this album. She's been far more open in the past, but far more hush-hush this time around. I'm going to consider this a good thing.

Re: Gilbert (38,196) by nikki from usa
People like to obsess over MC's body parts, but tend to zoom in so much they don't notice the rest of her. Mariah gained over 30 lbs between '97 and '99. Implants make your boobs bigger, but not the rest of you. Renee Zelewegger gained the same amount of weight to play Bridget Jones and her boobs, along with the rest of her, were huge. After Renee lost the weight, she went back to her stick figure boobless self. Mariah was a stick figure when she came out, she gained a healthier weight which enhanced her assets, but because she kept covered, no one paid any mind. Mariah Carey is a C cup. For those of us who have her 2003 calendar or are familiar with the pics taken in the Philipinnes and especially those of her topless with her dog on the beach from 2008 would notice Mariah isn't all that busty. She has natural tear drop shaped breasts. She discovered push up bras and gel fillers while photographers discovered photoshop. As someone who spent years in the cleavage department, let me tell you. There are pushups you can wear with gel fillers that take up the majority of the cup. Only a quarter of the boob will actually fit in there, so the rest of your breasts are smashed to the chest creating huge swells. It looks like your cup size has doubled. The only downfall is increased chance of "nip slip" as the areolas are right on the verge of the fabric.

Her live vocals (38,125) by nikki from usa
I think all this can be solved with smaller venues and less hoopla. The more I'm hearing "technical problems", I go listen to the fans uploaded versions of these live events and they sound so so so much better than what I'm seeing on tv. I thought her voice sounded phenomenal on Underneath The Stars from AI and The Roof was such a nice touch. Her high notes were on point from a fan's iPad or iPod or whatever it was from GMA. It didn't sound like either tv version. I don't know why so many producers are screwing everything up by overdoing so much. It's unnecessary and drowns her out or makes the sound bad. The half time show was a miss. Then a few hours later she's at the Carlyle singing jazz like it's 1996. The tv performances sound awful, but the fans uploaded versions are a million times better. Fire the producers Mariah, go acoustic. That'll shut everyone up. For a week. Maybe.

You're so lucky. I wanna know, I heard the by Boston Chery version of #B on YouTube where I thought she and Miguel sounded great. So many people say it sounded bad, although they weren't there, so I wanted to know. Is that how you heard it when you were there? Is that accurate or was it different?

Re: Geronimo, Anthony, and Samuel (38,007) by nikki from usa
Thumbs up, great posts. Tickets were available for Mariah's live performance the day before AI. She sang the medley 3 times and AI could've just chosen the best one, but instead they cut and pasted all 3 like a Frankenstein's project. Their production was awful. Since there were real live fans there, you can go on YouTube and hear her voice live. They weren't supposed to bring things in there, so there's no visual, but you can hear her if you type this into YouTube's engine. A fan posted this from her live event. Mariah Carey Medley - May 2013 (live taping - take 1 of 3). This was much better than what AI showed, which is why I say I still think they're mad about that 18 million.

Everyone lost their minds perhaps? (37,948) by nikki from usa
Mariah's done what Mariah's done since day 1. Her MSG from Daydream had her singing nearly every song 3 times. That's what they do when they're going to be selling something live. She's always done it, so I don't know why this situation should be any different. Mariah wasn't in control of editing. Fans have seriously lost their senses thinking she constantly needs to change everything about herself because of what everyone "thinks" is happening. Truth really takes a back seat when there are appearences to keep up, huh? Mariah should never compromise her artistic integrity simply because the media will find a way to exploit her in a bad light. This has been going on for decades people, it's not going to change. The fact of the matter is she sang a live show in front of fans the night before and her undubbed performances are up on YouTube to back it up. It doesn't matter if she sings with live backup or a backing track, because if she sounds too good live she gets accused of lipsyncing anyway. There's people on this board who refuse to accept anything but a bad vocal performance as "live". Then of course complain about it later.

#Beautiful spoof (37,933) by nikki from usa
It's only 20 seconds long and you have to start it at 39 seconds in, but there's a spoof of Beautiful that's really short and silly. I thought it was funny and so true. Lol. The undubbed versions are on YouTube of her live performances and it's interesting that Fox refused to comment on any possible technical difficulties from their end. Very interesting. I still say they're ticked about that 18 million. Her music video is approaching 4 million views, not bad for a week.

Production (37,911) by nikki from usa
How quickly they all forget. It's amazing when someone else makes the bed, everyone blames you for the sheets. When Mariah did Triumphant live and the medly, she had so many problems with her ear peice and couldn't hear herself. The sound glitches kept cutting in and out when she sang live. She got so much flack for it too. It makes since this time around for: reason 1. To avoid another "sound glitch" during a live show, instead have 3 live versions to ensure a great deal of awesome material that will be cut and pasted together later for quality. Not suspecting AI would be so shoddy at production. (I have to say in this day and age, if someone were to lip, they would've taken care of the sound problems in production. There's no way it would be that obvious and that bad. The fact that it was makes me think AI is ticked about that 18m.) 2. Mariah is a diva and AI has a time slot. For those who were there, she did the songs 3 times, talked to the fans in between, and sang other songs at random "for the nastalgia". You're not going to get a medly from Mariah Carey that's under an hour. So, they're going to want to pick and choose "moments" and be able to cut for time if necessary. That's production.

Examiner - the other foot (37,886) by nikki from usa
Lack of facts basically scream "tabloid". Yes, Mariah had 1 song, not several, that sold for 49 cents. Facts missed: 1. The promo was to offset her extemely expensive maxi single (same song) of $13.99 complete with 13 remixes. 2. Bootylicious had the same 49 cent discount at the same time and was a #1 hit. False information: Heartbreaker wasn't a radio hit. Yes, it was. In fact, it was huge. What are the ethics of 'The Examiner' when it passes off gossip as reality? Billboard's week starts Tuesday, not Monday. Meaning? Mariah's Beautiful promo day didn't even count toward her #24 charting. One day of "good airplay" doesn't compare to an entire weeks worth. There weren't any downloads or streaming available which is why it didn't debut the following day (last week). Mariah's current charting was based off the drop off "no promo" Tuesday, where her single was available for download and streaming her video didn't happen until Thursday night. She charted on her own merits thereby keeping her "promo day" as just that, without any advantage to her current placement.

Re: Dionne005. Jaker, single (37,857) by nikki from usa
005, you're wrong, because I do. I thought they looked comfy, and I can she see the sales for Fruit of the Loom skyrocketing. It could just be because I'm in Florida, the land of the cougars where divorcees in their 40's are abundant, but Mariah is a freaking hero down here. Jaker, I actually thought maybe she's doing the medley because Miguel won't be there. She can't do a duet by herself, so a medley is a good way for her to do her half and reintroduce her classic hits to a newer generation. I'm kinda hoping the medley isn't previous hits, but teasers of her album coming out. That would be hot. As far as the single goes, Monday seems to be a promo that immediately dropped off by Tuesday. But, it has been steadily climbing ever since, so it is gaining in popularity.

US airplay (37,841) by nikki from usa
I understand Monday was a promotion, and since the song was heard so much, it makes sense why so many listeners downloaded. It got just under 3000 spins in 1 day, resulting in over 32 million audiance impressions. Since Monday, the airplay has dropped dramatically, where she's averaging 5-6 million in impressions and getting under 1000 spins. Which explains why her sales are beginning to go down rather than up.The exception so far has been Friday, where it did pick up a little and it's true more and more radio stations are picking up the song each day. By the hundreds actually. So, this is going to boil down to requests, it's up to the public now. Radio spins count more toward Billboard than anything else. It wouldn't kill her to promote it either.

Re: Brad (37,840) by nikki from usa
Adding on to what Edward said, I think you're looking at the playlists and the fact it's not added on because it was released on Monday. Those may not be updated until next week. Most radio stations websites have a basic format and if you are unfamiliar with it you can go up to the search bar at the far top right on the webpages. Type in the word request. It'll take you to page where you can fill out your data and name an artist/song you want to hear or simply provide you with a drop box of available songs to choose from. This week the websites are promoting J.Lo's new track.

Re: JBfly (37,830) by nikki from usa
Lol - actually, it was Mariah that directed ABMB as well as Fantasy. I think fans get too obsessive about her career and technicalities that they miss the simplicity of the message at times. Yes, Mariah was being Mariah, but it's more than that. The song was about fresh young love and what we're witnessing with the video was a couple have a private, playful, flirty moment. That's what's "beautiful". It reminded me of the week I got back from work after getting married. My husband had candles lit on the floor leading to the bedroom and he picked me up to carry me to the bed. But, he wound up tripping on the carpet and I flew face first onto the bed while he fell to the floor. Real romantic. When he fell to the floor the radio came on playing some arabian song. Luckily, he was ok and I noticed scarves covering the lights. I picked them up and did a 3 scarf bellydance while he crawled on the bed with a grin and watched. By comparison, Mariah's moment was much better, but it brings happy memories when things are new and fresh.

Reminds me / Idol (37,829) by nikki from usa
This reminds me of Through The Rain, after Mariah's parents ran away together, eloped, and just enjoying their freedom. The barn his background, the chandeliers the well to do life she left combined with the freedom of the red car. I thought all that was cool. The one shown at Idol was pretty tame and pretty edited, I didn't know about the panties until I saw the full one on YouTube. Idol's ratings have been on a steady decline since the original panel left. Mariah was never set to do more than one year, so I don't know why anyone's talking about contract renewal. She has an album coming out and other projects. Unlike the usual panel of judges, Mariah's career wasn't stalled, she had youngins and this timing worked out for her. She never needed it, they wanted her to boost ratings, but then backstabbed her from the get-go. I think the producers knew Mariah had no desire to come back, so they're trying to use her as a patsy, in spite of the fact Nicki's likeability is the lowest.

Mariahology (37,770) by nikki from usa
It's interesting to note that in numerology, Mariah's number warns of "partnership". No matter how well intended the advice, Mariah is imbued with keen insight and logic, trusting someone else's "advice" is supposed to be the kiss of death to her. MC's natural ability will reap great rewards 9x's out of 10. The 1/10 being overly optimistic and not rooting fantasies in reality. Looking at her life this seems to hold water. Getting her career against the odds, creating hip-pop against Sony's wishes which resulted in success for her, etc. When Mariah wanted to do movies ,she wanted smaller gritty roles, but her camp convinced her to do a big release like Whitney and Barbra. She "partnered" this up with Virgin Records for the album. Alas, the movie isn't what she wanted, it bombed taking the album with it. Due to the help of a previous "partner" she'd divorced 3 years earlier. It was like the trifecta of bad partnerships. Yet, Wisegirls got rave reviews, standing ovations, and an award. Same with Precious. Mariah was pretty vocal about not wanting to do shows like AI, but then Randy and Nick talk her into it. Look how this turned out. Mariah, stick to your gut, because past experience proves it's on point.

Rumor (37,732) by nikki from usa
There's word going around that one of MC's tracks from her new album feature Angie, Kree, and Candice as background vocalists. Very interesting. I heard the end 30 seconds of Beautiful on radio this morning. I listened to it when I got home and simply felt confused and this is definitely different, so kudos for Mariah for that. So, I listened to it again. I like it and realize this isn't aggressive, or overly catchy, it's just a feel-good vibe. Which means this is the kind of song that doesn't get annoying. That bodes well for spins. It's played 9 times where I am today.

2 cents (37,699) by nikki from usa
Beautiful's music video will not help AI's ratings, but it will be a hit. This will prove once and for all Mariah Carey isn't Idol's problem. Idol is Idol's problem. Just like she proved Virgin Records was Virgin's problem. 10 years at Columbia; nothing but success. 1 year at Virgin Records; failure. She moves to Island Def Jam and success and more success. Oh, how I've missed you.

Beause I feel the need (37,679) by nikki from usa
I have to point out that those last 2 "singles" weren't singles. For Triumphant to "flop" it would have to be released and do badly. It was allowed for immediate download without being sent to radio stations. Two weeks later Mariah sent it to rap stations "only". It actually did okay which is surprising because Mariah's not a rap artist. The song was written for Nick and Mariah wanted it heard. The rappers on it were going through some drama and MC was showing some love. Immediately, she had remixes prepared for download that again were never released to radio. You could call Hate U a flop as it was sent to radio, but didn't do anything. Almost Home is something Mariah was asked to do for a Disney production. The fact that it wasn't in the movie or on it's soundtrack would suggest a lack of communication with the creators and PR at Disney. This has nothing to do with Mariah. She didn't promote this song as it didn't belong to her to promote. She didn't promote "Right to dream" either. They're movie promos, not singles.
(Saturday 4 May 2013; 1:04)
Oh, Nicki (37,672) by nikki from usa
Lmao. I'm sorry, but the wax in Nicki's ears must've kept out the noise that Idol was looking to replace her too. No, darrling, a Billboard #1 hit is not the same as an entry to the Billboard hot 100. MC's not talking about the bottom of the chart, she rules the top. Although I'm unaware of the 40-some songs Nicki has done to compete with Mariah even on that level, Mariah isn't known for most singles entering the chart. That's more of a Janet or Madonna category. Mariah's known for ruling the chart, not entering its bottom. Because she's Mariah, the woman who paved the way for hip-hop, your bread and butter. But, then again, back in Mariah's day, people had to want her song enough to leave their homes and physically buy it for $3-$5 dollars, not download it on the net for 99 cents. Btw, talking over people more accomplished than you and slowing the show down by verbally attacking them isn't the definition of "secure".
