I could say the same thing about your little alcoholism theory, but I don't. I simply scroll away because I don't find it interesting. I hope you find that balance too, darling.

Thank you, darling - I truly appreciate your response. I do try to stay aware of what's happening. I'm not trying to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I genuinely believe Morgan is a plant, and we should be cautious. He's shown time and again that he'll do just about anything for a quick payout.
Mariah is at a stage in her career where her success is not only undeniable - it's powerful. She confirmed a couple of years ago that she owns all of her masters: 86 singles and 15 studio albums, dating back to 1990. That level of ownership is incredibly rare, especially for someone who's not just the voice, but also the writer and producer. She's earning real revenue from her catalog, and that kind of power makes her a threat to certain people.
We've seen a similar pattern before. When Michael Jackson began acquiring ownership of his music - and even the rights to other artists' catalogs - it triggered serious pushback from powerful forces. It wasn't subtle, and it wasn't fair. I wouldn't be surprised if Mariah ends up facing similar tactics. It's something we should all be paying close attention to.

I'd totally forgotten this was going on. That you for the recap and keeping tabs on it. Morgan has been on this revenge tour of his for eons. You'd think he'd learn to make his own way in life. No one pays attention to him outside of who he's related to, so he could go unnoticed and unbothered if he chose to. Instead, here he is keeping his name spotlight-adjacent for people to side-eye him. Anyways, I'm excited for the new song.

Honestly, I agree. This feels like déjà vu - very reminiscent of when Infinity and GTFO dropped. It seems like Mariah just needed to put something out. From that leaked audio, the melody isn't really hitting. But I genuinely hope I'm wrong and end up eating my words. I can't make a full judgment until I hear the entire track. Even if it turns out to be just okay and not the standout from the album, I'm truly just happy she's making music again - and that she seems excited about her career.

I'm so excited for new music, the wait has been long. I like the snippets, but I don't really feel it as a single, feel it could be played at a lounge, it feels more like background music to create a vibe, so my hopes for another hit is not great. But what I have read about people's music habits, is that a lot of streaming use is as background music, so maybe there's hope.

The 2 statements (out of the 9 he started with) that are moving forward are: • Dealt drugs, nightclub scene, "diabolically charismatic" • Aspen incident, drunk, cops called, "drunk-ass brother" Both sides gave conflicting stories in their affidavits (sworn statements), so a jury will likely have to decide who's telling the truth. Mariah and Morgan might be questioned under oath by each other's lawyers pretty soon. Will update you who wins.

Anyway guys, here is the full Morgan case. I know most are into the music here and probably don't care. You can just scroll away. But I pay attention to lawsuits now after learning about the financial terrorism they do to big stars. I studied a bit of law as well. I read and simplified it so you don't have to.
1. Morgan Carey sues Mariah and her publisher, co-writer, and Andy Cohen's book label for defamation (saying false, harmful things) in her memoir.
2. The court drops the case against the publisher, co-writer, and Andy Cohen.
3. The court also drops most of the case against Mariah, but allows two statements from the book to go forward.
4. The judge gives Mariah 20 days to respond.
5. Mariah files her answer, but it isn't signed correctly (not "verified").
6. Morgan asks the court to: • Declare Mariah in default (automatic loss), • Give him a win (summary judgment), • Throw out her defenses and counterclaim.
7. On April 12, 2024, the court rules: • No default - Mariah's answer is okay enough. • No early win - Morgan has to prove his case at trial. • Most of Mariah's defenses stay, except one (statute of limitations).
8. Now the case will go to trial to decide: • Were Mariah's statements true or false? • Did she say them on purpose to hurt Morgan?
Stay tuned for the next episode of Judge Judy.

Lambi, sorry for thinking you were also Baby from Dreamville. Your posts are simliar in length and style to Baby from Dreamville. Maybe he or she will post today. I am glad you are here on the board. Please stick around for as long as you would like. I hope you understand that we are a tight group of board members who only want the best for MC. We have been through all of MC's highs and lows in the past 30 years. We can get very defensive questioning some of her professional decisions. However, it seems like we can all be happy again today because MC16 is finally on the way.

Stacey, I didn't have any side dishes ready, but I do have some tea today. Type: Dangerous samples Eric B. Is President and possibly Dennis Edward's Don't Look Any Further. I suspect that Anderson .Paak produced T:D because he loves to use 70s and 80s samples. MC said at her Mimi anniversary Spotify listening party yesterday that "We will know a whole lot of things on June 6th." She is one of the Ultimate Icon honorees at the BET Awards on June 9th. Also, she will be performing as well. It is going around on the web that MC has signed a distribution deal with Atlantic Records. Finally, Kristofer Buckle replied to a fan yesterday on his Instagram account about MC16 and he said, "It's worth the wait." I guess Anderson .Paak probably said to MC let's create some new music and get your album completed.

So are you ever going to drop a real counterpoint, or are you just going to keep ducking behind the same lazy "nonsense" label? Explain this then - if alcohol is the issue, why do both queen Mariah and Beyoncé drink, but only one spiraled? Because it's not the alcohol. It's deeper, and you know it.

My last 2 posts are meant to be posted separately now I sound like an incoherent fool. I know you mean well but you really have been doing me dirty fam. Also obviously I know you're trying to keep the peace here. If you think something is mean, just make it less harsh. Otherwise if you completely silence people who are standing up to the bullies, they're most likely not going to come back. Allow people to actually present their ideas, talk freely and give them a chance to fight back if someone is rude to them.

Yeah, as L.A. Reid said, "She is simply more talented than all of us." I think when Brenda K. Starr tried to buy songs from Mariah when she was 18, it really made an impression on her - not to let anyone else sing her hits. But that was then (she was poor), this is now. She arranged vocals for Ariana and Jennifer. Hopefully, it's a stepping stone for her to finally start writing songs for major artists. I think Barbra reaching out to her might also help serve as a launchpad for that? Wait, I'm freaking dead. Jennifer's interview just came to mind. Mariah said to her, "Why didn't you call me to write a song?" in reference to the making of Jennifer's Christmas album. Mariah is definitely ready to extend her songwriting to other major vocalists. I'm also elated to see her actually collaborating with other female singers. Let's keep it real, she's mostly only done that with female rappers. Now, with Ari and Jen busting that door open, I truly wonder who else she's linked up with for MC16.

That's a new one. I'm very new here. Please show me this baby you speak of. I'd like to see if he is as strong debater and doesn't resort to calling anyone a "yasss queen". But the bone I pick with Edward is because he made a big deal with me saying Mariah is avoiding wrinkles. Which btw, is a very verifiable fact. I'm just throwing the ball back way harder now because you don't do that to new comers. I'm finding out he's rather weak in debate and can't actually defend why he believes what he believes. His points are easily debunkable and he can't present you any fact. [censored] He made fun of Mariah. A couple people stood up for Mariah and called him nasty. He now then say "wow okay I guess I'll just hibernate aw I'm so sad". Its like he did the bullying and now he's the victim. Do you see the level of derangement? And with you? I don't have any problem. You're rather polite. We disagree with Solange's remix but you've never been rude. Hope this helps.

I have never made another account here, and if I have, I would not name it "baby" lmfao. Like actually what do you mean? Because I present verifiable facts and consistently prove you wrong? You basically have no argument so you resort to calling someone deluded "yasss queen", when you're quite literally deluded with your alcoholism theory. It's weird you make fun of people's post but then when your opinions are challenged you can't defend them with facts. It's like you haven't grown any muscle in years.

Your level of "yass queen" delusion is impressive, congrats. Mariah is definitely the better overall artist, but neither she nor Celine could touch Whitney when it comes to pure vocal power and resonance. So, before you and your other account keep hyping each other up in your little echo chamber, take several seats. If you're going to reply to a certain post, at least make some sense.

Music Box vs Daydream (108,945)
by Lambi from USA

In Asia, during a grand finale of a singing contest, virtually nobody uses any song from Mariah Carey, Music Box or Merry Christmas. Like when others are singing Whitney's "I Will Always Love You" or Celine's "Power Of Love". The lambily contestants would will their artillery with "Through The Rain", "Can't Take That Away", "Forever", "Never Too Far", "Butterfly" or "My All" and majority of the time, the lambs would take home the grand prize. Probably because Mariah just wrote it with higher difficulty level. Those are her best vocal performances. Once again, the market of singers have spoken, you're objectively wrong. Whitney is also the one that has to level up and match Mariah by the way, not the other way around.

Music Box vs Daydream (108,933)
by Edward from USA

Lyrically, I prefer Daydream, but vocally, Music Box reigns supreme in my book. While her voice on Daydream was like pure butter, smooth, nuanced, and mature, on Music Box, it was fuller, more powerful and with a richness difficult to match. Mariah Carey, Music Box, and Merry Christmas are the only albums where Mariah came closest to matching Whitney’s level of resonance and vocal power.
Daydream still featured incredible vocals, strong, expressive, and technically refined, but it leaned more into buttery tone and artistic subtlety rather than sheer vocal force. As an overall body of work, Daydream was more mature and creatively sophisticated than Music Box, but vocally, Music Box was a powerhouse.
As much as I love myself some Music Box, Daydream is the better album in my humble opinion.

Beyoncé has SirDavis American Whisky. She quite literally made an alcohol brand and sells them. She's so into drinking she made a whole business out of it. Mariah did the same with Black Irish. We can argue Beyoncé is a bigger alcoholic since SirDavis has 44% ABV, while Black Irish has 17%. However, Beyoncé has no vocal decline. If anything she got better. So no it's not alcoholism, your theory is ideologically inconsistent. Mariah simply has a different set of vocal cords, she has nodes and it only gets worse over time. And knowing Mariah's nonstop work ethic, she quickened her decline.

If you're going to be a "Yass Queen", at least own it with pride. Facts don't care about your feelings, they remain facts, whether you like them or not. And clearly, for some of you, the truth is like kryptonite.
It's well documented that Mariah Carey indulged in heavy drinking, especially around the time leading up to the release of Butterfly. Her voice was never quite the same afterward. She's been drunk in public many times, so it's not like she had a secret. While it may not have been his place to speak on it, even her brother mentioned that she was drinking while on her bipolar meds. Eminem, in his track The Warning, didn't hold back either, outright calling her an alcoholic. Say what you want, but the receipts have been there for a long time.
And as much as I love Mariah, with the state of her voice today, she wouldn't even make it to audition in front of the judges on American Idol. Her voice is completely shot. But of course, in La La Land, she's still "slaying". Reality, however, paints a very different picture.

I actually believe the human singing voice is perfected through Mariah. She can quite literally do everything and more. God was like: "She's just gonna sound out of this world, in every register, and her songwriting will blow everyone out of the water, oh and I'll put her in charge of my holiday." Her voice is a literal gift from the heavens above but it also came with a bit of a curse. Mariah has nodules. Her ability to whistle eventually worsened her nodules. Her voice was the money maker, because she was poor and is deeply afraid of the rug being pulled from under her. She worked her voice to the extremes. Songwriting also happen to make bank in royalties so she went crazy hard on that too. She simply overworked her gifts. End end. These nose jobs and alcoholism theories sound so elementary. No other singer will have a similar decline diagnoses because Mariah is simply built different. A cut above the rest.

I agree "to the point that a number of us unprofessionals on this board can probably sing Hero better than she can and with no lipping" is so out of touch. I'd like Bill to show us him singing Hero, original key please. I also want the whistles at the end like in Home For The Holidays 2001. The G5's from 95 MSG. Actually wait, let's lower the bar. If you can sound better than NYE 2017 Hero, then I'll be convinced you're not deranged. Prove yourself Bill.

"2. Alcohol is known as one of the absolute worst things for a singing voice. Mariah's voice being damaged beyond repair (to the point that a number of us unprofessionals on this board can probably sing Hero better than she can and with no lipping) suggests she has indulged too much in this vice."
Another fan disparaging and mocking Mariah with one of the most offensive comments I've seen yet (the part in parentheses). I feel sorry for you, buddy - you and all the lambs on here who wile away your hours hurting the woman who profess to love must have very sad, very unhappy to have to act out in this way.

Mariah Carey had 50-11 nose jobs but still insecure about "bad side"? (108,921)

Beyoncé literally has a song "Drunk In Love" and has so many turnt up references in "Cuff It" - where is her vocal decline? Actually I'll lay it down for you more directly, if her alcoholism is inherited from Pat, then how is Pat, the queen mother of alcoholism, still able to hit those notes in the 2010 Christmas special? Shouldn't she be in a vocal decline too? Since she is the originator? She was 72 then, way older than Mariah now. But yet she was able to deliver. She truly showed them, darling. You convinced yourself a little too hard with this theory. Far from being air tight.

An objective look at Mariah's behaviour leads me to think that yes, alcoholism has been massively responsible for the person we see before us today.
Let's unpack it all: 1. From Butterfly references to alcohol and drinking became more prominent in her lyrics. 2. Alcohol is known as one of the absolute worst things for a singing voice. Mariah's voice being damaged beyond repair (to the point that a number of us unprofessionals on this board can probably sing Hero better than she can and with no lipping) suggests she has indulged too much in this vice. 3. Alcoholism can be inherited and she has stated that her mother suffered from this disease. 4. She has been taking medication for her bipolar since Glitter. Also since then, we have seen her on many, many occasions drinking flamboyantly and recreationally, which you should not do when taking medication. This may cause her somewhat disassociated persona of recent years. 5. She cannot walk on stage without assistance. 6. Her speech can be slurred, rambling, and nonsensical at times. 7. It was most evident during the Nightmare era. I don't think there's a picture available from that time of her not holding a glass of champagne.
As I've said previously I do wish she would come clean about what she is battling. Be it alcoholism, drug dependency, a debilitating disease etc. She is clearly not right. I hate that the Yass Queens just brush it all aside. I've loved Mariah since the moment I saw her. I sometimes think I'm the only person that cares about her in this way.
I don't care about number ones, sales, her being the "queen of shade", or her damn lighting. All I care about is her and her being healthy, and happy. And she is not.

Yes that makes perfect sense. She did level up stylistically. She was at the most ease live as well, she ate those G5's for breakfast all throughout the Daydream tour. She was never ever the same live after. If anything, she made the arrangements of her older songs the hardest during that era so to assume that's the start of the decline is laughable. Butterfly is clearly where she lost that big voice status. And in Occam's razor, it's probably because of the stress from the divorce and overworking.

I thought the changes that took place during Daydream era, was more of a stylistic choice rather than any vocal changes or issues. Plus didn't she start lowering the keys of most of her songs that era, in order to be able to hit crazier and more dramatic high notes?

Wait what? Daydream era actually sounded so agile. Vision Of Love in Madison Square 95 Garden for reference. Daydream I'd say, was Mariah's most ethereal. Perfect balance of full voice and head voice while also being easily palatable. She mastered singing "straight" but also placed her runs just right (ultimate reference: Open Arms). Butterfly's songs were overdone with runs (first time she was allowed to do so) with the exception of My All and Close My Eyes. Tommy was actually right with making her sing straight. The more plain language, the more the masses eat it up. Something magical also happened with Mariah's tone during Daydream. I used to never put her above Whitney but when Daydream was released, it was clear who had the better voice. Her high belts in Fantasy, One Sweet Day and Always Be My Baby just cannot be duplicated. No one to this day can match the brightness of her resonance. It sounded so beautiful. Perfect mix of Music Box and Butterfly. The full potential of Mariah's voice was realized during Daydream. It was her response to Whitney's Bodyguard success so she also had to step up her songwriting. Underneath The Stars still stands as one of her best works.

I'm surprised more people don't notice the difference from Merry Christmas to Daydream vocally. Most sight Butterfly as when he voice began to decline and change, but for me Daydream was the beginning of the end. It was just masked by good songs, good production, and confidence on the stage when performing. Main call-outs for you all to review is that her melisma became disjointed, most noticeable on songs like I Am Free. She breaks it up rather than just singing straight through the melody like she did on all her albums beforehand. Then all the body from her voice went too, best displayed by When I Saw You and Long Ago. She still sounds great but there was a very noticeable shift at this point. As this was before her alcoholism then the nose job would be the most likely cause for the change.
