About Jamie from UK: Favourite song: I Still Believe

Favourite album: The Emancipation of Mimi

Her arm has healed, woop woop (39,088) by Jamie from UK
I'm not sure how I didn't notice this earlier but if you watch the Wild N Out video you can see her arm has healed.

Mariah is R&B (38,998) by Jamie from UK
Oh and I forgot to mention, Mariah has had a mainly R&B fanbase since Butterfly. So really there isn't that much competition between her and Gaga and Perry who are mainly pop/electronic. She should just release the album whenever she's ready and personally I don't care how long she takes. Shouldn't we be grateful she's already released tons for us to enjoy since 1990? Plus she broke her arm, I don't want to see her performing until she's fully recovered. Poor thing.

Album, new single (38,997) by Jamie from UK
Lady Gaga and Katy Perry have the same fanbase, so they have competition. Mariah's fanbase is slightly older in general. So for Mariah it probably won't make much difference whether she releases the album in November or January. What will make the difference is a worldwide hit single or a high quality album on par with TEOM (preferably both which is why TEOM was so big). Interesting facts: The Emancipation Of Mimi was the world's second best selling album in 2005. E=MC2 was the 26th. Memoirs was 46th.

So... (37,917) by Jamie from UK
Mariah set the bar so incredibly high for herself in the 90s that even now that her voice is shot she feels obliged to live up to that expectation to avoid severe criticism. She can't afford to mess up and especially not on American Idol. I don't believe the Idol performance was lipped, but say it was, people would be more willing to forgive that than an awful performance. Personally I think she did a great job. In fact I think she should start doing medleys in her concerts to spice it up a little.

RadChad said it best (37,793) by Jamie from UK
I agree with everything you said. Mariah is a beautiful woman for sure. But there are other ways to capture her beauty other than make her look like some desperate cougar off the street. The way it was done in the Emancipation era was classy-sexy, however this time round...

Beautiful music video (37,791) by Jamie from UK
Predictable, cougar version of the Sweetheart video. On the plus side, the locations in the video are #beautiful.

Almost Home/boobs boobs boobs (37,361) by Jamie from UK
The video is simple and divalicious, they pretty much gave everything away in the previews. But I hope more people will find out about the song; I'm wishing it the best on the charts. As for Mariah's boobies on Idol, they look magnificent lol. She's not hurting anyone by showing them off. I say if Nicki can do her crazy wigs, let Mariah work those boobs.

Almost Home (37,255) by Jamie from UK
I can't stop listening to this masterpiece. The vocals are on point and sung in full voice reminiscent of her Daydream voice. I also noticed that she sounds like Rihanna in some parts but I guess that can't be a bad thing as she's the biggest pop star in the world atm. Fingers crossed the song makes it at least to the top 10 on the hot 100, it deserves it.

Almost Home (37,207) by Jamie from UK
Just wow. The voice is back once again.

Expression (37,192) by Jamie from UK
I too have noticed since around 2009 that Mariah speaks slower and less articulate than she used to. She still has her eloquent moments where she expresses herself well, but she has let Nicki steal her shine. Mariah speaks the least out of all the judges and her points aren't that great. Ironic that the "untalented rapper" seems to be doing a better job than the veterans. On the bright side, I can't wait to hear Almost Home. I can tell it's gonna be something special and she looks exceptional on the set of the video.

Left side (37,101) by Jamie from UK
I can see some photos on the right of this page focusing more on her left side than right. As for the video, I don't know. She said herself she doesn't care about that anymore, but the video suggests otherwise. If she had something to hide, isn't it obvious turning your head every 5 seconds is counterproductive?

Re: Stacey lipping vs singing (36,908) by Jamie from UK
People get upset, but I think Mariah does us a favor by lipping sometimes, to spare us from hearing her on a really bad day. Mediocre vocal performances from her are ironic hence avoided because of who she is. Same goes for Whitney Houston, except she didn't avoid. I remember fans walking out of her Australian concert because she sounded so bad. Understandably, because what would you expect from one of the best singers of all time? It kinda damaged her reputation. Since Butterfly, Mariah clearly strains to sing the harder notes and that isn't helping her voice get better, in fact the contrary. Her voice is delicate and I believe she preserves it by lip-syncing, so when she does, I just empathize.

Re: Nick AIWFCIY and "Where are you Christmas?" (36,907) by Jamie from UK
Yeah, it is rather ironic AIWFCIY wasn't a number one for her, but then again, it wasn't allowed to chart on the Hot 100 in 1994. Otherwise it would have certainly shot to number one. Interestingly, "Where are you Christmas?" is the 7th bestselling Christmas single in the US. I wonder how it would have done if Mariah's version was released instead.

AIWFCIY Jimmy Fallon (36,902) by Jamie from UK
Wow how epic was that. I'd love it if she did more of these, she sounded so good. Totally made my day.

Cleavage/voice (36,851) by Jamie from UK
I never really understand the big fuss about boobs, if a woman wants to show her boobs let it be lol. Unfortunately, boobs or not, the press are always gonna comment on a "female" singer's outfit, no matter how good the music is. As for the performances, she sounded fantastic, especially CIITAA.

AIWFCIY (36,826) by Jamie from UK
I think most of us can agree that "All I want for Christmas is you" will outlast Mariah's entire discography in popularity. It will transcend several generations because classic Christmas songs have that power.

Evergreens (36,813) by Jamie from UK
In 60 years, Mariah will be remembered for All I Want For Christmas Is You, Without You and Hero. I think those are her most memorable hits. That long list of number ones will only be memorable to the lambs.

Re: CDC - Rihanna (36,805) by Jamie from UK
Diamonds has peaked at #2 so far on Hot 100, so Rihanna still has 11 number ones as of 21st November 2012. That might change tomorrow but oh well. Her success is explainable by the fact the music climate has changed like it always does and always will. Rihanna is the superstar of her generation, just like Mariah was of hers. In 50 years Mariah probably won't be in the top 10 anymore, but that won't ever devalue her legacy in music. *BTW, The Beatles have 20 not 19 #1s.

Nicki Minaj (36,799) by Jamie from UK
I really can't see Mariah making a song about her - oh wait, she already did: "I ain't who you think I'm is, I will snatch off all this ish. You think I won't come out of these heels and make it clear?" NTT lol. Let Nicki Minaj make the most of her 15 minutes of fame.

Whatever Bob wrote has been censored by the moderators, that's why you can't see it anymore. I didn't see it either, but I think we can guess what it said based on the responses below.

Diamonds/Nicki Minaj (36,734) by Jamie from UK
Yeah, Chase and Jay understand what I meant. I know videos didn't make Mariah famous, but I just feel she could make more of an effort in that area, that's all. Creative videos make an artist more interesting IMO. In response to your first question Paul, YouTube of course. Music videos get millions of views from an international audience. Nikki, Nicki Minaj actually raps "I win gold like Gabby" not "cold like Carey" lol. As for Idol, we'll just have to wait and see what made Nicki react the way she did. Even if Mariah started it, I bet most will still be on her side.

Diamonds vs Triumphant (36,716) by Jamie from UK
Has anybody seen Rihanna's new music video for Diamonds? Now that's what I call a music video. It really stands out artistically. Rihanna's videos just get better with every album. Maybe it's about time Mariah hired epic directors, because lately her videos like Triumphant are looking so 2005. Boring.

I like it but I hope it's not the 2nd single (36,709) by Jamie from UK
Beautiful song, nice vocals. Definitely not strong enough to be the 2nd single IMO, I doubt it will be anyway. But I like it, it kinda reminded me of "Your Girl" which I loved from TEOM.

David Guetta (36,571) by Jamie from UK
Oh wait, I forgot David Guetta is in his 40s. Lol.

Memoirs/M&M (36,570) by Jamie from UK
Memoirs flopped for the same reason E=MC2 flopped, poor single choices and poor promotion (the crappy music videos did not help either). They're not my favorite albums, but I know they had potential to be bigger than they were. But oh well, too late now. Yes M&M, it would be nice if Mariah spiced up her appearance. She's had the same blond extensions since 2002; a makeover may cause renewed interest in her. Black hair like Bianca maybe? Lol it would be interesting because it's so unexpected from her. As for JLo, she managed to get the biggest hit of career so far aged 42, because she conformed with the times and released a very current dance record. Usually the over 40s stick the formula they've been using several years. The other exception to the over 40 club is Madonna, who's managed to score some big hits even in her 40s and 50s. Those two artists have realized that they can't set trends anymore, so they follow them. David Guetta, Rihanna, Adele, etc are setting the trends now.
