Good Lord. Not sure who/what's behind the details/logistics of making the new video but it looks like a second thought, let's-put-this-together-last-minute type thing. The video shots do not compliment her vocals what so ever (meaning it doesn't highlight vocal "moments"). I am surprised with the outcome, considering her long term interests in acting. Mariah does look beautiful in the video.

Global anthems, Heavenly-themed (53,839) by DK from USA
Mariah has a rare ability to affect so many people around the world with her voice. I'm surprised she doesnt sing more "There's Got To Be A Way"-ish songs/anthems. When "Heavenly" was being recorded, she posted a pic of the choir/background singers. It gave me an MJ vibe. The song, although a remake, had great potential if Mariah wasn't hitting super human notes, hence automatically removing any sing-along vibe from the song. If she was to record a video.

WBT vs. Infinity (53,376) by DK from USA
While reading the Vogue article about WBT 10th anniversary (where did the time go?), it was great to learn about the process of how the song came together. LA Reid's persistence for additional tracks was an interesting piece I didnt know. Also, I didnt realize that WBT debuted on the charts at #81 (I thought it started at a much better spot). Didn't Infinity just debut in the 80s too? I guess it is possible for it to make it's way to #1. As fans we hear about things first, but it takes a while for the mass population to get exposed to a song, and typically Mariah's songs have a snowball effect. It takes a few listens before they get stuck in your head forever, that's the quality of a "classic song". P.S. I LMAO-ed reading this line by Mariah during the making of WBT: "I need you baby and everybody knows, you without me is like Snoop without hos." (Obviously it didnt make the cut.) Good times.

Christmas Show, December 21 - Beacon (48,744) by DK from USA
Mariah is a true superstar. From the moment she entered the stage to the end, she showed control, confidence and ease of singing. She has great stage presence, looks and sounds amazing. In an era of mass "pop singer" production, it's easy to see why people assume she lips, but she truly is that talented. Were there moments when the production supplemented her actual singing, yes, but it's also super obvious to hear Mariah's natural voice, once in a bill. experience. As a fan since 1903 I was rather pleasantly surprised to see her in top form. In addition to Christmas greats (wish she had sung One Child) she sang Emotions, Hero and We Belong Together. Trey covered a Christmas track during costume changes, but sounded rather tired. His vocals were hard to hear over the music. Looking at Mariah in retrospect and introspect, I wonder how does one keep going in an industry of demands and lack of appreciation. She must really love what she does. I am not sure that I would be able to fake the smile to the needy at all times. P.S. The show started 30 minutes late, which was annoying. I was sitting on the 5th row (center orchestra).

Mariah in the news (48,259) by DK from USA
Hello lambs. This is the first time I am messaging here, although I visit almost daily in reading news updates and commentaries. Recent coverage of Mariah's performance at Rockefeller is mind boggling. There seems to be a calculated effort in minimizing everything she does. For reputable media sources to post a stripped down version of her performance without background music and vocals seems like a direct attack on her (in which case Cindi Berger or whoever is her on PR camp needs to wake up and keep on top of things) or perhaps it's just a sign of the times, where people enjoy the building and breaking of celebrities in this ADHD human era we live in. I think it's combo of both factors. I hope Mariah continues to use her inner strength to carry on; she must have developed thick skin over the years. It's a ruthless industry after-all. She's often said that "music has saved her life", I truly hope she finds inspiration in making new music to feed her soul and for the enjoyment of the rest of us who genuinely appreciate her artistry.
