Re: Mimi (53,859) by Bino from
If you're referring to my post, that is not exactly what I said. "'MC has earned her respect long time back, she doesn't need to get it anymore' attitude is very wrong. Earning respect and maintaining it is what matters." There I agree with you completely. But what I said is quite different, it is that Mariah doesn't need to get something she has earned a long time ago. She's not Ariana. Now, maintaining that respect is another story. Though I find the idea that she needs to constantly be this wholesome, spotless, machine woman that people expect of her ridiculous. I mean Madonna (I love her) can say bitch and fuck all the time, and people will still bow down and call her the queen. Mariah says daaahling and people will say she's a difficult diva. Mariah makes fun of herself in her old videos, and people say she's ungrateful. I mean, poor woman. Mariah may have lost some fans, but she is still respected, and like I said, in time, she will get some more.

JD and rants (53,858) by Bino from
Since he was already in the business of ratting on Mariah (as opposed to talking to her privately as friends would do), he should have also had the guts to tell us why Mariah doesn't take things as seriously as she should. Was he talking about the last album? It makes you wonder about the kind of expectations people have on her. Isn't she supposed to be the most hardworking woman in the industry as many people have claimed? On a different note, Mariah just posted her rant on IDWC. To quote: "I'm just having fun with these videos." So, there, the girl just wanna have fun. Let her be. Oh, but no, she's not taking things seriously. Maybe she doesn't anymore. After 25 years of hard work and maybe that realisation that she will never please everyone and get the recognition she deserves, she just doesn't want to take things too seriously. She's got different priorities too now I suppose. No more drama, no more meltdowns?

No, it's not supposed to be serious. It is what it is: a short, impromptu, candid, casual, making-fun-of-myself, here's-some-trivia-to-my-lambily clips. She doesn't need to get some respect; she has earned it a long time ago. And she will be bigger in time, like the Beatles and Elvis. These refreshing clips are for the Facebook generation with short-attention span. So, no, having sit-down interviews talking about how legendary and classic her songs are is going off on a tangent.

Why so serious? (53,840) by Bino from
And dramatic all the time? Mariah is clearly having a good time "ranting" (i.e., complaining in a way that's unreasonable) about her videos. Cut her some slack. It's her videos, as LC mentioned, her "memories", so she can say whatever she wants about them. I for one am enjoying it, getting to know about these petty things that bothered her. I find it funny, maybe because I get her sense of humour. She seems to be having fun with all these little brilliant promotions she's doing, so relax and suck it up as there will be 15 more rantings to go. Don't let nobody's drama bother you. Cheers.

Re: Baby (53,673) by Bino from
Spot-on observations, Baby. I don't know why is that either. Perhaps because of almost 400 years of colonialization by Spain, US, and Japan? So we try to aspire to be like the "other"? I love karaoke too, but I never attempt to sing Mariah's songs. A lot of big names in the Philippine music industry follow Mariah's style. But there are still plenty who have their own individuality and musicality. Off the top of my head: Lea Salonga, Dulce, Aiza Seguerra, Sharon Cuneta (80s). Sorry a little off-topic. New to this board.

Emotions (53,662) by Bino from
Has anyone seen this performance? She failed to hit the rest of the whistle notes (see how she changed the failed whistle part to "high in the sky"). Great clarity and tone, she was simply divine here. After all these years, she still amazes me.

Mariah is #1 at least in "lyric intelligence" in pop according to this site. "Pop actually holds its own pretty well with Mariah Carey scoring higher than anyone in the other three categories. Bravo Mariah, bravo."
