Singing low (89,834) by Edouard from France
I believe that the way Mariah sings on Caution was just another vocal approach. She changes her vocal approach with each album the way others change their wardrobe. I also believe it has allowed her to rest her voice because on this tour her vocals are amazing. I was at the Paris concert and the way her voice flows, no more breaks, no more breaking down the melisma, it was so smooth guys. Loved it.

Re: Fly Like a Bird (89,820) (89,833) by Edouard from France
Hey I was at the concert too. It was amazing. I've seen Mariah in concert 7 times in my life and I must say that, along with the Charmbracelet concert of Paris, and the Angels Advocate concert in Montréal, this Caution concert in Paris was the best. Vocally speaking, energy wise. You could tell she was having fun. Such a beautiful thing to see, someone this professionnal, this on top of their game/craft. Very inspiring I must say. Mariah is a one of a kind icon. The way she interacts with us onstage and outside (she sung at two am in the dark streets of Paris after the concert, while everybody was asleep) shows how she's both a superstar and an independent artist at the same time. So to speak.

MC Billboard performance (89,491) by Edouard from France
I honestly thought it was good considering she clearly was not comfortable. We know she can do better as she's done it countless times during the Caution tour. But here, her performance was just good. I believe the reason is that she may have been insecure about her reception by the audience. Indeed, it's not the same when you perform in front of your fans. Plus, she did it 100% live with absolutely no backing track and attempted to sing it like the cd instead of re-arranging her vocals. When you think about it her Caution tone was not on display here. Mariah still thinks she has something to prove. That's how professional she is. I love that woman.

I love how Mariah's speech seemed to echo her songs selection during her medley of hits. She started with attitude and a bit of diva-ness, recognized her "mishaps" and the parasites (echoes A No No), got nostalgic expressing how she's grown up with the charts (Emotions and ABMBB), reminded everyone that she basically is the queen of the charts because they basically belong together (WBT) and dedicated the end of her speech to the people who have made her (echoes Hero). I love that woman.

I wonder if Mariah saw the little clip encompassing her career while she while still behind the curtain. I don't know if anyone has noticed but at one point there we can see Tommy Motola in the frame. I wonder if that might have destabilized her. I love that woman.

Bonustracks among Mariah's best (89,238) by Edouard from France
I absolutely adore most of Mariah's bonustracks/unrealeased/B-sides. The others, I just love them IMHO.
- "Do you think of me" is better than any ballad on Emotions but CLG, TTEOT and TW.
- "Everything fades away" is better than any ballad on Music Box but Hero, AYNAF.
- "Slipping away" is almost as good as ABMBB (that's not possible, though).
- "There for me" (which clearly is a bonus track from Rainbow) is better than "After tonight".
- "Miss you" would have been my fave uptempo had it been included on Charmbracelet. And I love IKWYW and There Goes my Heart .
- On TEOM, I must say, outside of the bonus tracks included on the deluxe edition, the only bonus track that I believe to be very, very good is "When I feel it".
- 4real4real is better than many songs on E=MC2, especially "I stay in love".
- "100 percent, I mean" come on. And what about Skydiving.
- "Runway" is a pure marvel.
Basically Mariah's bonus tracks are just as good as her album material. it never feels sub par. On the contrary, some of them are among her best work.

Re: 2019 BBMA Icon award (89,107) (89,150) by Edouard from France
Haha Shezz, exactly what I though when I read the post. I was like "got to say something" and then I was like, no I'm gonna comment of as a mean guy, which I'm not. You said it elegantly though. But so true. Thank you.

Re: Horrible promotion for BBMA (89,139) (89,149) by Edouard from France
Hi, kind of agree with you. I also noticed they showed a clip with no music and MC in gown on every image. No clip of Honey and sexy Mariah in hot pants. Thankfully they added the mention "revered songwriter", which is something new I believe.

Re: Mariah to receive Icon Award at Music Awards (89,141) (89,148) by Edouard from France
I believe she should start with the opening of the Caution World Tour, with the high notes in the dark in front of the giant pink M and everything.

What the %§% is he doing here? (88,467) by Edouard from France
Negative, boring, nihilistic, I mean, come on. What he is doing here? I feel half of Caution was created to point at people like him and dispossess them from the very little power they believe they have in this world. GTFO already.

Is this the tour we all secretly wanted? (88,223) by Edouard from France
I believe it is, and more. Amazing setlist. Just incredible. I love you Mariah. I believe it has to do that MC's lambs and the ones who buy her music now are one and the same. She can please the exact same target. That's why this setlist and vocals are so free, because MC is free to do whatever she wants without having to think about all those parameters (who wants to hear what and so on). Do you know what I mean?

Patience (88,104) by Edouard from France
I'm glad Mariah's team let With You do its thing with Valentine's Day and all. It means we have to wait for A Nono but I believe it's goning be worth the wait.

Mariah having fun (88,076) by Edouard from France
I'm glad to see Mariah adlibing and having fun with her songs again instead of trying to duplicate what she did in the studio when she first recorded her songs. What I've always loved about Mariah is her ability to change up her songs, lowering and highering (in that a verb?) the notes so that she's comfortable while never failing to give us new vocal moments. It's easier for her that way but it's also more creative. if I wanna hear the CD, I listen to the CD, you know what I mean? Love that woman.

Honestly (87,270) by Edouard from France
Anyone who knows a thing or two about singing can tell Mariah's voice here sounds forced. She lowers the notes and is not that comfortable doing so. She's even a little pitchy at times. She was still finding her voice I believe. Of course she sounds fantastic. I just don't think she likes the way she sounds. I actually like the ending of the song better, but the first half, she sounds very uncomfortable. However it's incredible that they did that song together since the content of the song is very mature. It makes Mariah sound older than she actually was at the time. It's even a bit weird to imagine a grown man probably in his forties at the time singing with a young sensation like Mariah. Maybe the song paralleled Mariah's and her ex-husband life a little too much to you know who's tastes. Dunno.

So many things to say (87,197) by Edouard from France
Hi everyone, I have been making a list of all the things I want to share with you guys and that I haven't had time to write about. From the amazing album Mariah has cooked for us, to the spectacular shows she's given in Europe and in Paris especially, from my meeting her and the experience of looking into her eyes and her looking back into mine, to the joy that I feel whenever I hear AIWFCIY anywhere, everywhere, from the amazing article Richard wrote about our lovely MC, to the great serenity that finally seems to have taken over this board thanks to some serious cleaning from our great webmaster.

So many things to say. I will take the time to tell y'all about it next week so that I don't oversaturate the board before the weekend and give our webmaster some well deserved rest. Have a great holiday season. Merry Christmas Edouard.

Question about Glitter (87,089) by Edouard from France
Hi guys, do you know how Glitter charted on Billboard 200 after the #JusticeForGlitter movement and the number one on iTunes?

Re: 8th Grade (86,848) (86,850) by Edouard from France
8th Grade is clearly the best vocals on the album in my opinion. It's been one of my favs on the album upon first listen. Vocally it's very "Slipping Away" and just as good I must say. The fact that the song is so much talked about on this board and elsewhere is a sign of its appeal. It's cryptical and that's another proof of Mariah's genius as a writer. We connect to the song because she's able to tell the story of a grow up relationship but with the eyes of the child she once was. That's pretty powerful although very simple at the same time. This album is so smart and on so many levels. Love Caution, love Mariah.

My All in Borobudur (85,809) by Edouard from France
It's incredible. Mariah sings a shortened version. I believe she can more easily catch her breath and gives us stronger vocals. She basically sings the original melody on the second verse, which is something she's never really done before. Check it out.

Re: Poor Rainbow, record rankings (85,785) (85,804) by Edouard from France
I don't think so. I believe the artwork spoke to a younger generation. Tai girls of course with the cute ensemble and the colours. To straight guys because she looks so young (even though she's already 29) and hot on the cover. And to gay guys I guess because of the colour theme and the "let's be who you are" whole approach. I remember being 15 going on 16 at the time and I was mesmerized. And I'm a straight guy.

Mariah sings when she talks, basically.

Re: Poor Rainbow, record rankings (85,749) (85,754) by Edouard from France
Rainbow is the first album I ever bought. I pretty much stole her previous albums from a girl I used to know. I bought Rainbow and I was instantly shaken. I was 16 and I mean Heartbreaker (both versions) were and still are everything.

Re: Can Mariah still sing? Sheila I ask? (85,752) (85,753) by Edouard from France
Thank you for sharing your experience. You were there and you witnessed the voice. I saw her in Paris in 2016 and 2017 and I will see her next month in Paris again for her Christmas show. She can sing. I can't even believe that has to be said and that some people wonder. Honestly guys. Can you guys sing? Do you know what it takes to sing and give even a tenth of what Mariah brings? Come on. That's ridiculous.
