Re: I don't care if Mariah gets another #1 record (97,212) (97,215) by Anonymous from UK
That Mariah has "abandoned good or successful music" is subjective, and heavily influenced by your said and apparent xenophobia. Either way, I'm not sure how many times we can tell you that it's not your place to deconstruct someone else's racial identity when you've absolutely no idea/can't relate to that and are evidently incorrect.

You then reject my identification of you (when we've almost daily windows into your psyche), but think that yours of Mariah, whom you couldn't be further from, is still valid. At least be consistent, please.

I agree with you that Mariah is often deluded, but I know she's not stupid enough not to see that Caution isn't shifting the amount that Music Box did. It's also very clear she doesn't care. She's repeatedly made decisions that have veered her off that course. Does that mean she doesn't want success? No, validation is always desired, especially from someone with her self esteem. But it means that at this point, with hundreds of millions in the bank and a secured legacy, she doesn't need that success and can create freely. If I had that much money, I 100% wouldn't go and do what anyone wanted me to/was popular for the sake of it, cause why would I ? I'm pretty sure that you've even defended her right to do so in the past.

Critical response to a project - at this point, for an artist of her standing - is a lot more important than sales, unless you really think that a song hitting No.1/being successful (especially at this point in time) verifies its quality over all other work. If thats the case, then you write off songs that are considered classics because they weren't bought en masse. But I know you don't believe that. It just doesn't work that way. I'm sure I speak for others in saying that obv we'd like success, but I'd rather a quality Mariah album that's well received than a shit "on trend" album for sales. It would not only break a consistency Mariahs held, but if I wanted that, I'd be a Madonna fan.

And I don't infer incorrectly - you talk nonsense about Mariah not working with white people, whilst discussing how a white girl will get her another hit. The underlying hate is the real issue here, not the words you choose to dress it up with, contradicting yourself whilst doing so and hi-lighting your identification/classification of others based on external appearance. In layman's terms: people think you're racist cause you do things like judge Mariahs actions based on your perception of someone else's colour/skin tone. It's either that, or what you said about Mariah not working with white people was waffle that meant nothing and had no foundatio, but it can't be both.

The unfortunate things is that you're not as light hearted as to come across as "tongue in cheek", as you believe (and as a dry Englishman I fully "get" your application of sarcasm and tone), but instead you come across as completely facetious. It not only devalues your statements and intellect overall, but is generally pretty gross and makes this board much less of an enjoyable place, all for the satisfaction of your ego.

"Lo betide collaborations with non black artists". Aside from meaning *woe betide, you conversely write this whilst discussing her collaborating with Ariana Grande. You criticise others for repeating "nice stor(ies) she likes so she repeats it like she done a sermon", but don't see the irony as you sit there spewing out contradictions, misinformation and your boring, repetitive and xenophobic assumptions about race and others identities with literally no experience or knowledge of what you're talking about. Your casual links between "poor quality music" and race speak volumes about your delusion and superiority complex, a complex that fits disgusting definitions. You may write as if you're interning at the Mail on Sunday, but your sass doesn't equate to value. You, of course, have the ability to be a kind, considerate person with some valid point that I've even defended at times, publicly and privately. But I have to call a spade a spade and say that your bad side is repulsive.

It's not a real live track, they just put an audience over it.

I agree, I'm slightly frustrated by some big omissions for the CB era. Even minor ones like "The One - Instrumental" could have been on there. They've also listed the singles as being released in 2021.

Re: Oh Santa? (96,726) (96,729) by Anonymous from UK
To be fair to RA (and their occasional wild predictions), I have listened to Oh Santa multiple times since the announcement, and - if the verses are maintained - came to the same conclusion: the only way for all three of them to get a decent amount of song time is for the verses/bridge to be split into two, with a third (prob Mariah) getting slightly shorter bits, otherwise it ends up a bit Divas Live/Triumphant. To maintain one verse each, with MC bridge (why have Ari and J on there if they won't get verses?) would be a waste, imo. So, for example:
Singer 1 starts at: Oh Santa, if you get this letter
Singer 2: I saw them shopping
All: Chorus
Singer 3: Oh Santa, I hope that it's
Singer 1/2: I've been really, really good
Singer 3: They say it's unrealistic
And so on.
(Note: I'm sure Mariah loves the Kris Kringle lyric, so maybe she'll keep that to herself or invite both of them to do it with her.)

Easter egg / secret album (95,805) by Anonymous from UK
The Easter Egg in the OHOMO video is the chick name and lipstick. Chick, it transpires, was a band Mariah was in. They recorded a secret rock album in 1995. It's super scarce but you can find snippets here.

Car videos (95,564) by Anonymous from UK
Her worst, by far, is "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life". At least "I Don't" had some sort of storyline and cinematography, and STD is a huge step up from both, albeit boring. What somewhat makes ID/STD understandable, for me, is that she's on the lower end of her career with their release, and so I expect nothing high budget. "Last Night" was her cheapest, most basic and unnecessary (car) video as a relatively current superstar. It was the start of some bad video moves.

Re: Hero melody / MC30 wants (94,738) (94,741) by Anonymous from UK
Yeah, Crystal Ball didn't happen, but it was my understanding that the Prince song was recorded, but not finished? I'd enjoy Yours, it's always been annoying we didn't hear it. I didn't even bother to put After Tonight on my list. I guessed Luis wouldn't sanction it, and, to be honest, I think it's a bit of a cut and paste track anyway, I'm not enamoured.

I'd also like to add that I'd like the HD recording of Emotions at Oslo in 2016 on the SSF tour. Her voice was great, flexible, she knew it, she had fun, and we deserve it. I live for her "Oslo" purrs at the end (the full videos with complete intro have vanished from YouTube). And I'd appreciate any footage shot for The One video. I know it was incorporated into the Boy video, but I'm almost certain there are distinct clips for it.

R.e. the Jamaica concert, I agree, I didn't know what to make of it when it happened - I was overall disappointed in her behavior generally, at that compounded it - but I really enjoy it now for what it is. Vision of Love never fails to crack me up. And yeah, I agree with you Andrew, I think the second verse of that version of WBT is better than the original (I suspect the original may have been like this when she wrote or demoed it?). I particularly like the "don't even need this to listen" ad lib, even if it doesn't make full sense. Although I understand why the track ended up as it did.

Hero melody / MC30 wants (94,730) by Anonymous from UK
I like the Hero melody. I'm reminded of the time she performed in Jamaica, and although she was drunk af, she was free and sang an alternate version of the 2nd verse of WBT.

R.e. Wants for MC30 (though many are highly unlikely to happen):

1. The original demo tapes (guessing now we're not getting them)
2. Everything Fades Away, Slipping Away, There for Me, Never too far/Hero for digital release.
3. Mariah solo demo for original version of OSD
4. The Crave Song, The Wedding Song, Mariah's Lillie's Blues, To The Sky, Can You Hear Me, Hypnotized, Distant Lover, Panic The City, Love Can Never End, Satisfy with MJ, Prince songs. anything unreleased
5. Complete digital Butterfly remix EP
6. Underneath The Stars video
7. Alternate AYNAF video
8. FLAB remix
9. What exists of Beautiful Remix video
10. A Peak at the lullaby album recorded for Roc and Roe (very unlikely)
11. Any Christmas outtakes and session stuff
12. Last Night a DJ Saved my Life (and all videos) for YouTube
13. Mariah's Where Are You Christmas
14. The IKWYW part 2 (where I belong)
15. Lover Boy Firecracker version.

Mariah, Damizza, the car (88,769) by Anonymous from UK
I'm not saying Damizza's report is true or false, but before we respond with horror, judgement or call anyone a liar for suggesting that another human could be so unhappy they'd attempt suicide, especially one that first hand said she carried a bag in her car ready to be kidnapped, let's remember just a while back when some of us suggested Mariah had mental health problems/wasn't on the right medication/wasn't taking medication. The board was in uproar at the "rudeness" and "disrespect" of suggesting Mariah had mental health issues. It was true though. Also the uproar at Morgan's last reports that Mariah is ooc, detached, unstable and an alcoholic since 2001. Again, got rubbished and insulted. Now something else potentially scary is heard about Mariahs health, again we debase it. Mariah is a fragile, beautiful human, susceptible to everything all of here us are, including, possibly, the want to not be here in the dark moments. She's had a few. It was during her breakdown she discovered God. Maybe she did reach the point of suicidal thoughts. They'd never publicize/admit it, but if she did or didn't, it's a story we should maybe meet with reflection at others struggles rather than anger that someone we love but don't know could potentially feel that way. Love and respect to all, especially those hurting.

With You (84,372) by Anonymous from UK
With you is gorgeous. There's a few things I don't like about it, vocals included, but everyone's literally been asking for something stripped back in her current voice for years. She delivers exactly that and people aren't happy. It is a very simple delivery and yeah, I feel like for a hit and the impact we desire, there's something missing, maybe? But I love the melodies, the layering, the key changes. [...] It's soft, intimate, delicate but raw and quintessentially MC. I've not felt this chilled and nostalgic with a Mariah song since MOAIA. I miss the old 90s quality everyday, but unless there's some divine vocal/Walter intervention, I'll gratefully take this as an upgrade from the "Triumphant (you're mine)" days.

Terrorism talk and generalisation (82,756) by Anonymous from UK
I can't believe what I'm reading on here. "Some areas are no go" - let me tell you first hand that growing up as a person of colour, there were places that were a no go in Munich, Graz, Berlin, even parts of London. "A major flood of issues on a daily basis because Islamic immigrants." Please google image Aleppo. We helped create and are perpetuating those problems. That and many similar are why they're here. Our problems are nothing to theirs. "You never hear something of Buddhists, Hindu or any other culture/religion." So the Rohyingya crisis doesn't exist? The Bodu Bala Sena? Saffron terror? Northern Ireland? The up to 20 million (recorded) people killed in the name of Christianity? Over 100 million recorded have been killed in the name of Atheism. Fundamentalists are fundamentalists, irrespective of denomination. These things happen everywhere, by all religions and often on a worse scale and consequence than in the bubble of Europe. The average Muslim is the same as the average anything else, wherever you are. "They don't integrate": The Europeans don't even integrate with each other, let alone respect the rest of the world. Further, the America's and Oceania aren't indigenous caucasian, fyi. Yet the indigenous across all are denied the land that is legally, rightfully theirs. As for Africa, apartheid is in my own (and many on here's) conscious memory. What's happened in all terror attacks is awful and should be remembered, but it's also good to remember where this wealth of our nations has come from and how, what our taxes go towards, what else is happening in our name and the names of various faiths/beliefs. To generalise says nothing about them and a lot of prejudice.

Re: 2014 wasn't that great folks (81,927) (81,964) by Anonymous from UK
Saying all that, the real turning point/uh oh moment for me was that night Mariah was really drunk [and] swore at the TMZ paps about "ain't nobody good enough for my wedding" (I think?), with the head coven members laughing in the background. I remember texting my mate and saying I thought something was very, very wrong. Mariah did ask - and was heading towards - all of this, but thank God we're not in those days anymore.

Re: 2014 wasn't that great folks (81,927) (81,962) by Anonymous from UK
Yep. This mess started in 2013/14. That day she wore the white shorts [and] sung beautiful comes to mind. I originally quit the measageboard around the time of the Butterfly drinks promotion as I dared to say Mariah had mental health problems, was drinking too much and covering up her seriously damaged voice. Alot of people (some still here, some not) went wild at the thought and basically verbally abused me. I only knew Mariah was going through that because, aside from looking at her everyday for 24 years at that point, I've suffered them myself and could clearly see it. Not to be preachy, but real talk. I hope these revelations will teach everyone to have compassion towards things you don't understand. There's no shame in poor mental health and it shouldn't take a celebrity for us to accept others health challenges. But yeah, her marriage breakdown started this and by 2014 she was heading for disaster. Stella saw an opportunity and manipulated the f out of it.

In defence of Andrew (79,741) by Anonymous from UK
I say this as someone who responded angrily to his last comments: Andrew shouldn't be banned from the board. Yes his comments can be racially insensitive and stem from a lack of understanding, but they're not explicitly racist nor do I believe him to be racist, thinking himself superior to another race. And yes, his comments about Mariah or others are at times harsh, written in the manner and attitude of the pretty vicious/overreactive UK press and sections of the public (the wig comments - totally out of emotional context) but he does genuinely love Mariah and is a product of his society, not a cold hearted nasty person. There is often truth in what he says - MC has been lazy, sloppy and messy in many aspects of her career for literally years and it is valid to point these things out, even if you don't like the way he puts, their regularity or she is "doing better" now. Offence is a choice and rudeness is subjective. Hatred of him for having or expressing opinions, or for semantics, is no better than what he's accused of.

On the subject of wigs / Mariah's hair (79,718) by Anonymous from UK
Off the top of my head, she's worn extensions here and there since the Honey video? But went full force with them during the CB era - her hair didn't grow two foot in a year - and we've rarely seen her natural hair length - and definitely not colour or texture - since then. Mariah and unnatural hair go together at this point so it shouldn't be a surprise. She started wearing wigs when Vegas began but regularly since SSFT and although I'd rather see her real hair, at this point I'm just grateful they're not a mess and behind her hairline like they were at one point last year. I had to Instagram Stella and tell her to sort it out.

Re: Gettin' wiggy with it (79,692) (79,707) by Anonymous from UK
There's nothing funny about your "joke", because it wasn't one. It's a mocking remark about someone else's race, psychology and identity, which isn't helpful, to say the least. And for the record, she will wear wigs for a variety of very obvious reasons including the savings in time, effort, money and health of her already very damaged hair.

Did Mariah get dropped? (79,521) by Anonymous from UK
Is this why she's suddenly got a new contract? Is this why Stella got droppped? Is this why she's suddenly sober? Epic only "recommitted" to her in April, with talk of a new album this winter and now there's news that she's signing to Roc Nation, but not of her being released from or ending a contract. Maybe it's being suppressed to protect Mariahs already fragile public image.

"One Child" (orchestra) / "Happy Ending" (79,059) by Anonymous from UK
I was just listening to the "One Child" orchestral arrangement posted by Mariahsvocals on YouTube and I can heavily hear the orchestral "Happy Ending", the closing track on the "The Little Mermaid" OST. The last 40 seconds of One Child caught my attention at first, but then listening to the whole thing I hear major referencing throughout. Or am I hearing things? I know Mark Shaiman co produced, to give it that extra musical feel, and it would tie in with her love of the film. But still. (I have another theory that Mariah relates to The Little Mermaid so strongly not just cause she loves swimming, but because she "traded her voice" for the freedom she loves but couldn't otherwise have.)

Re: My All (79,052) (79,057) by Anonymous from UK
Andrew, I wondered the same and concluded that Honey is probably over saturated, as is Heartbreaker, Fantasy and It's Like That. I'm sure they're the most common Mariah videos I'd randomly catch on T.V. or see clips from. Maybe, aside from the mega hits, people then gravitate towards songs they love but won't have seen so frequently, hence the less expected tracks higher view count? Saying that, pre VEVO, each of Mariahs videos had hundreds of millions of views each and it all got wiped, meaning current view counts aren't that reflective of the videos overall success and are perhaps more reflective of the younger generations perceptions of Mariah? Either way, I'm not a fan of the video either. It's too try hard but bland. The abstract yet moody concept they use to push the fact that Herb Ritts shot it (as if it wasn't publicised) thus it's art and "arty" didn't pay off for me, but she looks incredible.
