Look at you, Andrew. That was nice dude.

I believe Mariah and/or her team do read this board from time to time and probably check for your posts specifically. Roc Nation would not be doing their job if they didn't. The fact that you even are making the effort to be middle of the road is in itself a sign that this is going to be a great era.

Reading your posts and knowing people personally that suffer from bipolar disorder, my concern over the last few years is never with what you say (because that is your right, within reason and decency), but how that would sound to a terminally insecure individual who idolizes a woman that committed suicide. In the back of my mind I have dreaded that something tragic would happen and Trey, JD or someone else's word we trust would inform the world that the last thing she was looking at was this board. That may seem like a strong thing to type but words have power, especially the well written ones. You love Mariah obviously or you would not be here. Let's just know who she is what she will always struggle with at her core and accept the likelihood that she does check the oldest board out there and we may be or are a major apart of her stage anxiety and fear of being less than perfect.

Looking forward to productive exchanges with you.

Re: Hello Tim: The Distance (85,050) (85,064) by Timothy from USA
Thanks Tevin. On another note, I think all of us should consider that in 2018 the standard GMA/Today Show Friday Concert Series, morning chat with Kelly Rippa, laugh with Ellen in the afternoon and late show jam fest only go so far to reach the millennial pop culture masses. Today, it’s about using strategies that are out of the box and heavy on social media that Roc Nation can handle from wherever in the world she is. Remember that she (and anyone else on a normal non competitive week) only needs to reach 75-80k for a number 1 album and the singles charts are streaming heavy which is why the promotional push has been about warming up the buzz from a small flame to a bonfire. Roc Nation is putting their efforts into creating a sleeper word of mouth hit which at first feels backwards for an established artist but actually is genius for an artist without a top ten hit in 10 years.

My first message (85,028) by Timothy from USA
I have been reading this message board on and off for over 15 years. First as a backup to Mariah Daily and then primarily after. I have never, ever posted here because as a guy, I have kind of hidden my appreciation for Mariah and it has always been more interesting to see how close the insightful messages here could get to my own opinion.
I debated posting last week during the "Come to Jesus" the group was having on the really dark negative tone of the board lately but alas, the webmaster shifted the energy with his message and I am glad my first post can simply be one of admiration. This is is it, guys. I have a very distinct ear for music and what translates with broader audiences and this is the hit we have been waiting for. An age old test of a hit song is whether the song makes you audibly sing the melody in some form by the end. Say what you will, but by the end of this weekend, through fellow celebrity/instagram star shout-outs and general public shares and re-shares there will be buzz for this song. Period. If Epic does what they need to, this has a real shot. I can't believe I finally can say that. For all the critical praise for the last proper album, there was not a song that fit squarely in heavy rotation at first listen. There were great songs, strong artistic work, but not commercial enough for the trends of that period. This is mechanically sound (meaning the ear worms are built in) with classic pop sensibilities with genuine, believable urban flare. Unless there is something just unforeseen in the market (like another major release by another female R&B singer), this will be a hit record. I am scared to jinx but I read Billboard weekly and if you look at how Elli Mae and SZA performed with their strongest singles this year and last as a comparison, I really think we are looking at a solid top 10 and possibly top 5 Hot 100 record. Mariah gets a greater boost than them on name recognition so the peak week in its run could possibly even help us to realize a milestone that is more pragmatic fans don't even say out loud. All I will say is another legacy artist put out a very commercially sound song in 1999 and it reached the milestone we shall not mention. Just imagine if this is not even the strongest commercial single on this album and once radio programers and streaming services have reacquainted themselves with her for a top 5 with this one before the next, even stronger one. She will easily be placed in heavy rotation with the next. Roc Nation deserves some serious credit. All over the internet tonight I am reading people asking why wasn't this the first single. We are in a different time. There was/is a strategy. And this time, that strategy may finally pay off. Now that I have broken the ice, I guess I might as well post more frequently I suppose. Hello to all my favorites on here.
