Mariah Carey 2002? CD:UK interview (41,891) by Daydream327 from USA
I noticed that as well. She looked great and I loved the casual look during that era, Very very random upload though. Lol.

It's like she has completely lost touch with reality. I just can't connect with her anymore, she's like a different person it's so weird to see. She's capable of so much more, she's too talented for this mess she's pulling, I just don't understand. I understand she has gotten older but honestly it's as if she's getting younger mentally (if that makes sense). I get that her voice will change with age that's obvious, but Mariah has proved that if she take care of her voice it could be strong and in top form, but it seems she just doesn't care anymore.

She was really nurturing her instrument, she wasn't drinking, and she was getting plenty of rest. It seemed like pregnancy had really humbled her and did wonders for her voice. I enjoyed the interviews profusely and even though the videos weren't all that great from MCIIYou the amazing music made up for it. And that was the last era where I felt I really connected with her. Nowadays I'm lost. Everything sounds forced and uninspired. There are no feeling or emotional connection in the music. The performances are all about her trying to look sexy as possible. The vocals and lyrics are very lazy and basic. Her interviews had gotten annoying and very repetitive. She simply can't stay on topic, she's goes on and on about things like her dogs and things that really don't matter.

There were a couple of things I observed when Mariah was pregnant. Firstly, the best thing about it was she didn't obsess over how she looked. Being pregnant forced her to focus more on her voice rather than trying to be "sexy" all the time and as a result we got some amazing live performances from that era. Those performances kind of took me back to when Mariah would just get on stage and sing her heart out and show people why she had one of the greatest voices of all time. When I watched the Christmas In Washington and ABC special performances it reminded me of why I feel in love with her voice and talent. I was just so proud to be a lamb. Another thing I noticed she just seemed to be in such a great space creatively and emotionally and it really showed through the music. Her voice at the time was just out of this world.

YME is not a bad song by any means, but it's kinda of a given that us lambs will like it. New Mariah music is always great in ours eyes because we're fans. Although it's still early in the game, YME did only sell 32,000 the first week, that basically tells you right now the only people who are supporting her is the fans. What I was saying is if Mariah wants the attention of her fans as well as the GP she will need to branch out and get creative. We have to take ourself out of the "fan" light for a minute and view the song as the GP would. The GP today is always looking for something new and exciting. A very catchy song and the beat and melody has to be memorable. Again, I'm speaking from the people who actually buy music today. That's why I think the Hit-Boy single may be just what she needs. He's somebody she's never worked with and he's one of the best producers out right now. So this could be great. The lambs will always appreciate and support her music and maybe that's all that matters but if she does care about being on the top of the charts again we'll need something fresh and catchy as heck.

Too bad I wasn't one of those people. Iv'e always wanted her to evolve as an artist. it's those who are stuck in the past that want her to go back to the "90's" sound. I've never claimed to want the "old" Mariah back, I just want the passion for the music that the old Mariah had.

Mixtape / EP (41,578) by Daydream327 from USA
I'm not sure if anyone else have brought this up, but I think an EP before the actual album could really help Mariah gain her core fan base back and keep the GP interested. With the way the music industry is now and with digtial music moving so fast this could really help MC move up in this digital age. Although I don't actually see MC doing something like this, it would be a pretty nice surprise for the fans.

NY hot shot (41,577) by Daydream327 from USA
I see what you're saying and I do hope that she will get inspired again, but I feel that's a part of the problem. I think Mariah should stop trying to "recreate" those times. That's exactly why I feel everything now is coming off as uninspired and the reason why I think she needs a new team. Mariah and JD will probably always try to make a WBT part 2 no matter what or try to recreate TEOM to a T. Mariah has even compared YME to WBT in recent interviews. Lambs seem to want 90's/TEOM Mariah and that's exactly what she's trying to give us. But me personally I don't want the old MC, I want a new, fresh Mariah. I will always appreciate Mariah making music but I also want her to grow as an artist in every sense. Beautiful was a good start but I know she can do better. I think if she hit the studio with Justin Timberlake or possibly Bruno Mars it will really bring the best out of her. I know she has the talent to do anything creatively, she just has to be willing to take risks. And by this I don't mean following trends, but actually setting them. She has the talent to do so and she has before so there is no doubting her potential. She needs to take control of her career and become more serious about her craft. MC's only in her 40's, she still has time to grab that credit she rightfully deserves but she won't do it releasing material like this.

It all boils down to the music (YME opinion / career direction) (41,569) by Daydream327 from USA
First off, I have been a Mariah fan for many years, but from 2008-present (with the exception of MC2You) her music has not been anything special nor groundbreaking. The main reason Mariah's career has been on the decline imo is the music. Truth be told, Mariah could have performed YME at the Grammy's and that still wouldn't promise it to be a song that sticks and becomes a global smash. Besides we all know live performances aren't Mariah's strong point. With that being said, promotion is not the issue. And if the music was great enough, she wouldn't need all that much promo, believe me. YME is boring and average at best on Mariah's standards. The reason I have always been such a huge MC fan is the connection I have had with her music. Mariah just doesn't seem inspired anymore. That passion, authentic feeling is gone in a Mariah record nowadays. And this has nothing to do with old Mariah vs. new Mariah. When I heard WBT, Mine Again, basically that whole album and even MC2You I felt the passion and creativity, she was connected to the music. up tempos and ballads. I just don't feel that with any of her recents songs. Everything sounds soo forced, lazy and dated. In all honestly I could care less if she doesn't ever get another #1, all I want is Mariah to deliver great quality music. I want her to get inspired again. I've always loved her fun personality but in almost every interview she is going on and on about everything but the music. She doesn't seem confident in this project at all. She's just not serious anymore, everything is about her dogs and the injured arm. It just doesn't seem like her heart is truly in the music anymore. Where is the growth, the artistry? She is capable of so much more than this, vocally and musically. If this is the best single they could offer from the album, I'm not the least bit excited. She needs to realize she can still stay in her comfort zone but also take risks creatively and at the same time appeal to the young as well as older (just look at Adele). The fact is MC's formula is tired now. From her look all the way down to the videos, as well as her performances. She has to revamp if she wants the GP interested. First she needs a whole new team, she needs new writers and completely new producers. She needs to be surrounded by musicians that haven't been around her entire career that could possibly influence/inspire her to take risks both vocally and musically. If she continues to let JD influence her, she'll never grow as an artist. Because truth be told JD hasn't grown much as an producer himself, he is not mentioned along side the Pharrell's of the world today. If Mariah got together with Sia or Ryan Tedder the music that would come out of these sessions could possibly be the biggest songs of her career. She could be back on top, but she'll never take these risks and that's the problem. And she thinks someone writing for her makes her less of an artist. *sigh* But If she's gonna ignore the obvious and keep doing music now just for the heck of it (uninspired), then I do think she needs to go ahead and bow out gracefully. Leave the game with your dignity and legacy Mariah, you well be happier and more respected if you take that route.

MC Summer 2012 / MC723 (40,337) by Daydream327 from USA
I completely agree Edward. I think it's ridiculous to question somebody's devotion to Mariah just because they have an opinion. I feel as fans we have the right to share our opinions. It's not like anybody is being disrespectful in any way. Besides if the fans don't speak out, who will? We all know how Mariah's team is. Truth is, we are all just frustrated with the way things are going. It's hard for fans to admit that Mariah's career is indeed fading. We don't want to accept it. All that hype and anticipation was for what exactly? It's a shame. I would have appreciated if she didn't release anything at all until everything was right but instead she kept giving us album dates, only to tweet and say it won't be released on 7/23. And I still have yet to be blown away by any of the singles released. All that time recording and you come back with Triumphant? Come on Mariah, you're a legend, ugh. This era has been nothing but a mess. I think it can only get better at this point, or at least I hope.

Mental state (40,323) by Daydream327 from USA
I think at this point we are pretty much used to Mariah's crazy fun personality, which I love. But I just think nowadays for some reason she takes her antics to the extreme to the point where she gets a little annoying. Her interviews have become very repetitive, she's not really answering the questions fans want to hear. We're just kinda left out in the blue. I love MC to death, but I have to agree something is just not right, not sure what it is but something is going on. Label problems? Personal? We may never know but she just doesn't seem as passionate about her art as she once was. TAOLG was good, but I expected something way better given that she's had so much time to record. Also expected something more lyrically in depth. This is the biggest gap between an album. You would think after having babies, Nick's health scare ect, she would be so inspired to create her best work yet. Idk but it makes me concerned as a fan. I just hope she's okay.
