Lol. Us UK lot stick together. In all honesty though I think I'm suffering from baby brain as I don't know how I've gone against Andy? Please help a UK bird out.

Re: Allison (94,865) (94,866) by Anonymous from
I've considered that, wouldn't Mariah hate her Mum it that was true. As I said, I'm clueless when it comes to Patrica, and again I'm not saying what Allison is sharing is all entirely true. But, it still doesn't sit right with me. I've worked with many children in the past, and despite the suffering caused by a parent, they've still wanted a relationship with them. Even if Mariah hadn't suffered or witnessed the abuse that Allison claims, it doesn't mean that none of it ever happened. I know I'm generalising, just giving a different perspective. It will be interesting to see if Mariah discusses/challenges it. And I agree, over the years Mariah's siblings have proven to be toxic, aren't toxic people damaged?

Your knowledge of Mariah is incredible, in particular her back catalogue. Should the day ever come where Mariah fan sites battle it out for the ultimate fan club title, you need to be part of the dream team, with of course Eric leading it.

Allison (94,861) by Anonymous from
This may not be of popular opinion but I can't help but feel for Allison, I don't believe everything she's saying is true but I can't completely disregard what she's saying either. She's clearly damaged and if she did in fact experience abuse as a child, it's understandable to a degree the direction in which her life took. Addiction and prostitution is enough to contend with let alone being abused as a child. I know people have to take responsibility to improve themselves and I'm aware that Mariah tried to help her and got burnt too. But, I still can't help but feel for her. Her methods in how she's pursuing justice is questionable, however I for one wouldn't want to walk in Allison's shoes, I can't even begin to imagine the abuse and danger she put herself through whilst prostituting. It's all very sad.

As for Mariah's Mum, I'm at a loss. I think Mariah's relationships with her parents have been fragile at different stages throughout her life, for what reasons I do not know. The lyrics to "Make It Happen" are poignant, she felt abandoned and alone, so very young and so afraid. I understand that she had dreams to make it but she also seemed quite desperate to get away. Surely the song isn't just about making it happen, overcoming adversity, believing in God etc. One of her greatest abilities is song writing, and from a young age she's been able to vocalise and describe pain so hard-hitting and very eloquently. I think when it comes to her pain, there's more to it then racism and the breakdown of her parents relationship. Mariah was very good at playing down the severity of her mental health issues in the early 2000's, only to share nearly two decades later that she has bipolar. I get that Mariah wanted to protect her career and improve her reputation at the time but again, I can't dispel the notion that there is some truth to Allison's admissions.

When I was younger, the former fan version of me would have instantly defended Patrica and felt sorry for Mariah, tearing strips off Allison, not this time. Something seems off.

On the flip side I'm quite an emphatic person but I could also be going soft in my old age.

Yes, I love this version too Terna. Don't be silly though, this version isn't suitable for an iron pumping workout, it is however perfect for spinning round the living room and fitting in the odd pirouette.

Love, love, love that song. Great to workout too, makes me feel I can accomplish anything when listening to that track. If it had been Meek and Rick feat Mariah it could have been bigger.

Re: Mariah’s most poignant political gesture ever (94,323) (94,332) by Anonymous from
From reading what Andy has to say, our opinions differ somewhat, theirs no denying that, some things he can say makes my blood boil and that's ok, we are not always going to see eye to eye on things, I probably evoke the same in him also. Do I think he's racists, hell no, absolutely not. If I did, I wouldn't consider him a friend. I think some people find it harder stepping in other people's shoes, sometimes it can take them longer to grasp and sometimes, people just don't get it, no matter how hard you try. Walking in others shoes is a wonderful quality to have, clearly you have that in abundance, I can see how passionate you are, thank you. But, name calling, making accusations and getting tic for tac is what loses the message, people hear that rather than the debate itself. If Andy loves Mariah then he is one of the dumbest racist I've encountered, Mariah's blackness shines through, and that's coming from someone who is proud to be mixed race.

Re: Article: Mariah Carey shares heartbreaking song (94,325) (94,331) by Anonymous from
Hi Licia, I agree with you in regards to Mariah being vocal about the movement. Ultimately the movement isn't about one person, nor just police brutality. It's about black people primarily being treated unfairly due to the colour of their skin, whether it's the justice, education, mental health system etc. The treatment within these systems tends to be harsher for this particular group. As I envisioned, some people have completely missed the whole point of the movement and instead of trying to understand it, would rather look to seek out it's flaws and find counter arguments as to why it shouldn't be justified. No one of course should lose their life or be injured during this process, especially for speaking up, and I for one am disgusted and extremely angry with some of the behaviours displayed by protesters. The violence isn't necessary. I suppose for some though, until you've experienced racism no matter what direction you take in life, where you're always having to fight against the system, it's going to be harder for those to fully understand. People have a right to their opinions, you just focus on spreading positivity and helping people to better understand and educate on how rough it can be and how they can help. I'm not saying other races don't have their struggles and blacks only suffer, but it warms my heart that others of different shades are trying to acknowledge, understand, and support the movement. Keep your chin up girl.

In Andrew's defence I don't think he was trying to cause upset, he clearly knows the murder of George Floyd is a crime and a travesty. Everyone doesn't know the ins and out of things, and sometimes we have to share information to highlight a different perspective. I'm not about dragging someone's down for their views, challenging and giving insight is more conservative. I was conscious about sharing my original post in fear of causing upset and looking stupid. Please don't make this about bashing each other, especially over such a sensitive subject. Let's make this about learning from one another, for people to share respectfully.

Re: What More Can I Give? (94,284) (94,291) by Anonymous from
Disclaimer- I'm not the most articulate on here nor do I consider myself to be political. I speak from the heart.

I hear you Andy, it's a disgrace that riots resort to looting, however targeting black people and killing them has to stop. Theirs rioting and then theirs looting. To me, what's worse is that the spotlight seems to shine brighter on the looting, rather then the real issue, that people are still being murdered everyday due to the colour of their skin. To top it off, injustice is the usual outcome. Call me wrong but if my husband, dad, or grandad for example were murdered due to the colour of their skin, and justice wasn't served, I would expect/want an uproar, especially when cries for change have gone unheard, time and time again. I'm not saying this is the case right now, although I really hope it is, but when Dr Martin Luther King was murdered, 110 cities in America started rioting, causing $47M in damage. On the 6th day of the riots, the Civil Rights Act 1968 was passed. As I touched on earlier, I don't agree with looting but sometimes it's the last resort due to the build up of sheer anger and frustration. It's a shame that buildings can have have greater worth and respect then a black mans life. Burning buildings are a concern to me yes, but human life is more. I guess for some people, they are outright opportunists, again I don't agree with this. But, some people have the view that why should they care for the law when the law doesn't care for them.

People shouldn't have to live in fear of losing life due to skin tone. For black men especially, this can be a daily occurrence, particularly when the police are concerned.

George Floyd did not deserve to go the way that he did, nor did the countless brothers before him, especially by people who are suppose to serve and protect.

I can't believe that in 2020, one of my biggest fears for my unborn child, is how they could be treated due to the colour of their skin.

Please don't get me wrong, I don't condone any form of mistreatment or inequalities of others, and yes all lives matters. But right now, black lives matters, the injustice and unfair treatment is blatant and is too hard to ignore, nor can we kid ourselves that it isn't that bad, it really is.

PS I wanted to share my thoughts with everyone, not just you so please don’t think I’m singling you out. That was not my intention

I was late to the party with this one, didn't really fully appreciate the song until the late 90's, when I could fully appreciate the lyrics, delivery and arrangement. It must have been incredible to be a part of the debut era.

I really still enjoy the performance, dubbed or not. I've heard her sing worse, again dubbed and not. Mariah seemed to be really feeling the performance, it was nice to see some energy and soul. I think she made the best with what she's got and I loved that she changed it up a little.

Thanks Andy for the lovely compliments, you are a sweetheart, however I have to disagree. I do share some tiny similarities to Mariah but I'm far from her twin, Mariah is a classic beauty who I can't compare too but all the same, thank you. Right now my hair looks like sideshow Bobs, I have acne and deep bags under my eyes, all thanks to having migraine attacks every other day at the moment, my main pregnancy symptom. But all will worth it in the end so trust me, I ain't no Mariah.

I don't think the singles released represented the album well. What would have been your winning formula?
1. Migrate - yes I don't like it but it had massive potential
2. Cruise Control
3. For The Record
4. Side Effects
