If Mariah was Siri.

Not sure how to put this (54,611) by nikki from usa
Whenever Mariah isn't trying to be "Mariah Carey" she comes up with incredible music. Her iTunes had ringtones that should've been songs: Whisper, Lillie's Blues, Time Of Your Life, etc. The Country music she made with Willie Nelson for Tennessee was fantastic. Glitter is a great party album of dance tunes. I was wondering how Mariah could do something like that - make new music without having to be "Mariah Carey" and not seem like she's trying too hard. Leave it to Mariah to have already performed the action. Music for a video game and commercial. If it turns out to be a winner and really fresh than that's the kind of music the kids will be expecting from her. That will give her free reign to expand musically. It's ingenious really. I'm wondering if Brett Ratner did the commerical and that's the "stunts" we heard about a couple months prior? Gives her an excuse to wear something sexy too. Honey meets the Renaissance era, that could be interesting. Bring it MC, bring it.

Here's my concern (54,513) by nikki from usa
I wanted MC to go the Indie route. I think LA Reid would try to suck out the rest of her shine than put her star front and center. My fear was more or less confirmed when he pigeon holed her into the women in their 40's club. I think these new re-releases will make their predecessors obsolete and under this new abysmal contract Mariah will be cheated out of her money for them. That may be why she only made 1 new song for this #1's. I also believe these are LA's ideas that simply make business sense based off what MC is currently doing. I don't think her heart is really in it. She's just going through the motions. I don't see these things selling much which will just add more "flop" albums to her rep. What really sucks is Mariah's never been a regular superstar. She can create songs like ordering a pizza in just about any genre. LA told her he needed a big "Mariah" ballad and she came back with WBT. He decided the re-release needed a soft ballad so MC came back with DFAU. He could tell MC what kind of song would be likely to chart and she could create it. She should be making new music soon, she's too young to go the route he's trying to get her into now.

Morgan and Allison are mooches (54,263) by nikki from usa
Except, Morgan didn't used to be. I find it questionable he'd take an 11 year old Mariah to Studio 54. He was a male model and fitness instructor for many years. I thought the article that came out a few months ago featuring him as a sibling to a famous celeb and how he had his own mini fame was interesting. A few months later he's "dishing" to tabloids. It's all the same thing: Mariah by proxy. Is the fitness business not going well anymore? This is very deja vu of the last interview I read by Allison. She was begging to see her niece/nephew again. Only, "this time it wasn't just about the money". That sentence caught my attention. So, she does want money too. Allison tells of the last time she went to the tabloids begging to be in MC's life again and meet her kids. It worked. It also turned out it was a ruse because Allison did just want money. They got together for lunch. So, after MC believes Allison wanted sibling bonding it turned out she did just want money. MC paid her than dropped communication. I can see why. Morgan is doing the exact same thing. He was a male model and fitness expert for celebs, he has ways of getting Mariah if he wanted to, it's obvious he's after something else. He can't say he knows all this because he's in her life and then claim he can't connect with her. That's an oxymoron. Heavy on the moron.

The moron parade continues (54,262) by nikki from usa
Anyone who believes the National Enquirer as a source of information needs to be in a loony bin. When the hell was the last time Morgan was anywhere in Mariah's life? I haven't heard anything from that boy since MC moved into her 9 million penthouse. He certainly isn't in any of her holiday pics. No one goes to the NE out of love for anyone. The tabloids are the ones that pay the most for stories. Oh yes, I care so much about my family let me tell the world "about their problems" and get paid because I care. Bullshit. Mariah just finished doing an interview stating she wasn't drinking anything because of her voice and the Vegas location. Her instagram the past few months have been a testament to that with water bottles everywhere. I can see why Mariah has trust issues and why she blocks people. I also call BS on not being able to get a hold of her. MC's a self-proclaimed mama's girl who talks to her mom frequently, so if her siblings needed to get a hold of her there's an easy way. What really sucks is he's now putting MC in danger with her kids' custody with BS like this. If Nick thought there was danger he would've voice it as he does everything else. That's the person that's actually in MC's life and always will be because of the kids. Morgan Carey should be ashamed of himself. Thank God for Shawn.

The missing single / weird strategy (53,232) by nikki from usa
This is the first time in forever and a day where Mariah released a single without so much as a word about a remix. The release was weird too. It was made immediately available to download, but then not released to radio for another week. Even then, the radio was only the A/C format which isn't going to get you a hit. They don't have the music video finished yet either. I'm starting to wonder if this was released to get people's reactions and downloads. Then, perhaps, a remixed radio friendly version will be released to pop radio and the like with the music video ready. I began thinking that because folks were talking about the over production vs. Mariah's vocals on the track. Maybe that really wasn't the entire finished product? Or, simply, this was drawn out the way it was for the sake of buzz. Once the music video is released then she'll actively promote it on shows and sing it live perhaps. Maybe the Billboard awards will kick that off.

Is it a single? (52,835) by nikki from usa
Whenever MC releases a single to radio it has an "impact" date. Even Beautiful and You're Mine had impact dates when they would be released to radio. This song had rave reviews before anyone heard it. The track was immediately released for sale and never had any mention of being released to radio. On top of that, we still don't have a music video for a song that's been available for download for a week now. This boils down to 1 of 2 things. 1. This song is just a promotional tool and was never meant for radio, only hype. Or 2, Sony will wait to release the song to radio until her residency kicks off and her music video is done to promote her album release. Mariah is taking over "Twitter Tuesday" @iheartradio tomorrow at 7pm. We'll have to wait and see.

Re: Warrior Butterfly / Mimi (51,528) by nikki from usa
Magazines do this frequently and always have. "Mariah" has nothing to do with this. She didn't do an interview with these people. The article and magazine chronicled her life and added quotes she's said recently and over the years. There is no new information in this magazine. They simply starred her due to her residency starting next month. The information is old and so is the picture. There wasn't an interview so there's not going to be a photoshoot. This is a common practice that's been done on Mariah hundreds of times over the years.

OK now I'm convinced (51,509) by nikki from usa
This is going to be a rant, so sensitive souls might want to skip. J.Lo sang live on AI without a hiccup. A fan uploaded her first and second take, proving that singers really do sing multiple times before a performance is shown. Only AI didn't screw it up this time. Sure, 90% was chorus drowning her voice out in playback, but she got great reviews. She did a good job with the imagery. I'll give props there. But, guess what? There's no "live feed" on YouTube or anywhere. Due to what happened with MC in '12 right down to the media saying AI was going to kick MC off mid season and replace her with J.Lo, and trying to pin the poor ratings on her, I think it was staged. She was set up. In Mottola's book he was asked about MC yet turned it into praise for J.Lo. In 2013, Jen brought up how MC was mean to her in 2001. Then, made that sour grapes remark about the residency this year. I do think Mottola pulled some behind the scenes garbage due to the deja vu the first time this happened with Glitter. But, again deja vu, the only reason this was able to be pulled off was because MC didn't have a proper team in place to avoid it. I'm glad Mariah's getting rid of the old and ushering in the new. Now, lets deja vu TEOM. I may be the only one, but I would love for MC to sing If We and Lead The Way live. There's a lot of good music that should be heard.

The Chamber Group (51,508) by nikki from usa
You know, I thought Cindi was dead. She hasn't made any publicity, spun stories, cleared the air, or even made simple statements on Mariah's behalf in 3 years. Thank goodness she was able to contact Page Six, a gossip column, to let everyone know she dropped Mariah. Interestingly enough, Mariah already has new representation. This is a first. In the past when a manager went bye bye Mariah was left to fend for herself for awhile until she had a replacement. Someone other than Cindi has been making statements for MC over the past couple of months and recently started making headlines on local media. Officially, Mariah is now represented by The Chambers Group. They are all over social media and describe themselves as: ideas and insight across media, film, music and brands. A boutique PR/branding and digital agency.

Nick the Dick and spring into action (51,395) by nikki from usa
True, but not true. DM has a way of adding its own spin to things. Nick released a song about MC that sounded like it was going to be really crude, but it just had 1 line in there that wasn't offensive to Mariah. It was just classless. I don't doubt the tell all book, but I don't think Nick is trying to get full custody of the kids. Especially, since he's the one that was the absentee parent. Any "drugs" MC did would have to do with her injury. I do think DM is trying to dramatize. Some of the things it claimed, such as why MC never wanted children, is a topic Mariah has gone over many times herself. So, that's not "news". Also, Nick went into some gross details in 2013 on their sex life and has been talking about it throughout their marriage. During his stand up comedy act he talked about the doggy style they did to get pregnant and talked about his butthole. I honestly don't think this is going to be anything different than what MC has already put up with from him. He will forfeit his 250G's for breaking contract. She lost 150lbs of Nick Cannon. I see nothing but good things for her future. She has so many things coming up that can overshadow this. If anything, this will spring new life into her work and leave him in the dust.

iHeart radio (51,280) by nikki from usa
I would love if MC had her own channel on iHeart radio. She has more than enough material across so many genres to play original music for hours. Someone with her track record of hits should have an app by now that takes you straight to iTunes to buy at this point. It would be a good way to release the songs she's always wanted heard, but the label was against it. Mariah's weight is the same size as she is on Ellen. Wearing a wetsuit that's a size too small will look unflattering on anyone. On Ellen, she was wearing clothes that fit. Kind of like how people thought she looked "fat" during the tree lighting ceremony, but were surprised by how "thin" she looked the following week during her Christmas concerts. She wore clothes that fit and looked phenomenal. Between her injury, kids, residency, movie, her vocals, and album coming up; losing 10 lbs shouldn't be at the top of that list. Clothes that compliment her shape would suffice. Don't get me started on "relatable". Did Fantasy hit #1 because people could "relate" to a 25 year old multimillionaire recluse living in a mansion? She's always been larger than life, people relate to the music, not to her. J.Lo? How did "relatable" translate into single or album sales for her lately? Vegas didn't relate her to a residency.

Filming new music video and Christmas movie (51,239) by nikki from usa
Brett and MC were vacationing in St. Maarten. Their birthdays are 1 day apart so they decided to celebrate them together since they've been working on new projects together. Brett called in to radio station 101.1 on the island and MC chimed in on their new projects together. A movie based off her hit Christmas song and a new music video. For anyone else interested Brett says Rush Hour 4 is underway soon. Happy anniversary MC.

Mariah's morrocan jewlery (51,039) by nikki from usa
The "eye of Horus" is originally the "eye of Widget" the creator goddess of Egyptian folklore. The "eye" has to do with anatomy. Slice open the human brain and the stem looks like an eye with the pineal gland being the pupil. The pineal gland is said to be the source of all intuitive and psychic energy. Long story short, in cultures of the Middle East, South American, and *Morrocco* this jewlery charm is called the "evil eye" and is used as a reflector for negative energy. If anyone is giving you negative vibes or wishing ill will of you they are giving you "the evil eye". So, by wearing it, the negative energy is reflected back to the person or entity causing the negativity. This ring looks Moroccan in nature. Considering Mariah's love of the culture and the fact she was there a couple years ago, I'd say there's a good chance that's where she got it.

Re: Manny / Las Vegas sales (50,860) by nikki from usa
Her VIP packages are sold out and in true MC fashion her most expensive and cheapest tickets are selling out fast. Some are only down to single seat availability. Other than that all mid-section seats are available for all dates. But, it depends on how many you are buying. There's only so many seats available together in so many sections. As we get closer to the concert dates the tickets will start selling more quickly. As much as this board likes to dwell on the negative, her Jamaican concert did also receive good reviews and some fans really enjoyed it. As a result her Las Vegas concerts received a bump in ticket sales. This impromptu performance she's going to put on tomorrow will speed things up even faster. Even more so if she's on point. You might want to hurry. The site might give you some trouble saying there's no tickets available on the diagram, but you can try clicking on another section and it may display possibilities there. Hope this helped.

No more Cinderellas / my apologies to Baby (50,756) by nikki from usa
Just talking the facts here. Nick isn't suing Mariah, he's suing the biz manager for not keeping him in the loop. It's impossible to sell a home without his signature unless he wasn't involved in the original purchase. That means MC bought the house and Nick was along for the ride. He has no entitlement of being in the loop. By California law he's entitled to half the profits, but he filed for divorce in NY. That will be interesting. But, none the less, he can't talk profits until the divorce is finalized and they're still in the midst of that. Since Nick was going on about how they were going to spend the holidays together, then filed for divorce while MC was in the middle of Christmas concerts, and they didn't spend the holidays together; it looks like he was the one who blind-sighted her. Nick achieved most of his success after marriage and used his association with MC frequently. He made a huge stink about not spending his wife's money, but clearly he wasn't entirely paying his own way either. He didn't have the money for his Ncredible start up in 2010 which means he got that from Mariah. Now, he's whining to the media about not being kept in the loop on a sale he wasn't apart of? Baby, in the past I said you were too hard on Nick, but you're right. He does appear to be 2-faced and thirsty. MC, stop dating guys who use you to build empires for themselves. Next time, aim for someone already accomplished and not in entertainment.

Doing the math (50,591) by nikki from usa
348 Elusive Chanteuse Show
87 Christmas concerts
1 tree lighting
15 Jazz festival
Those numbers above are the amount of songs Mariah sang for each event. The Elusive Chanteuse Show consisted of 20 concerts sang in 6 weeks. Compare that to the Daydream Tour where Mariah sang 8 concerts in 3 months. MC's current tour had well over twice the concerts in half the time frame. These 4 events were done over 4 months. That's 451 songs sung in 4 months time. The tree lighting performance went viral while her week of Christmas concerts were overlooked. A clip from Japan went viral while the other 19 concerts were ignored. Fantasy from the Jazz Festival went viral while the other 14 weren't seen. That's a grand total of 3 songs that went viral out of 451 songs. That's not even 1%. If we were to count the entire Japan and Jazz concert as "bad" with the tree lighting performance that would be 39 songs out of 451. That's 8%. If you think Mariah's "ruining her legacy" because less than 1% of the time (or 8%) is your version of the "bad outweighing the good" than I think it's time you stop regurgitating what the media feeds you. You've OD'ed.

Just for balance, Las Vegas (50,590) by nikki from usa
When Celine first began Vegas, it wasn't to rave reviews or to the numbers she's currently selling. She was slammed hard by critics for her first year. She kept going and as time progressed things got better and better for her. Britney spent over $100,000 making her Vegas announcement. But, what I want to point out is that neither woman sold out their shows within weeks of making their first ever announcement. Even now, their shows are usually sold out for the first few legs once they've began and gradually decline. Las Vegas is a tourism capitol and Caesar's already made a report within the first few weeks that they were impressed with how fast MC's 18 shows were selling. I wouldn't expect them to really pick up in sales until we're nearing the month of showtime. Both Celine and Britney did a special to promote their shows, but they didn't do a whole lot other than that. This is new to Mariah, so I wouldn't be shocked if she had a rough start. But, I have no doubt she'll end on top.

Happy Mariah week (50,202) by nikki from usa
I heard 2 songs from MC's last album while out and about this past week. I used to think only hit singles played in public but I guess not. I heard Meteorite at the Burlington Coat Factory and YDKWTD playing at the mall. I heard Emotions, Hero, One Sweet Day, We Belong Together, and Fantasy on the radio in the past 5 days. Did anyone hear the new Pitbull song? It has a Mariah mention in it. Apparently, he thinks she's pretty hot. It was a great Valentine's week.

Bad label (50,116) by nikki from usa
I'm not happy about MC signing onto another label. I think she's playing it "safe" instead of coming into her own. The music-scape of the 90's is gone. If the label isn't willing to put much into an artist, they won't see the light of day. I don't want to deja vu her last album again. The labels pick sucky singles. The labels want her to regurgitate old formulas. She's forever complaining about such things. I think songs like Lil' Love, Help Me Make It Through The Night, Right To Dream, Miss You, Do You Think Of Me, Don't Stop, and the like are some of her best material. She's great when she branches out and tries new things. The time to take the lead and do her own thing is now. At the very least, if she were to fall on her face there wouldn't be any disillusionment on what she needs to do. But, signing with another label now only ensures she won't be able to do her own thing until her 50's. I wish she would decide what she really wants and put a professional team in place to reach that goal. Another label is doomed to make MC redo old MC material and music structures. That time has passed. If Tommy, Medina, LA Reid, and Clive Davis can make her a star than any competent person can. It's time for Mariah to make Mariah Carey a star.

Favor drama over logic (50,062) by nikki from usa
Mariah goes on tour with 20 concerts, but only Japan goes viral. Mariah sings a 16 song setlist, but only Fantasy goes viral. Both are the very first while the others are ignored. This is why people shouldn't make judgments based off clips of bits and pieces. In Jamaica, Mariah took a lozenge out of her mouth and called it "Nordic medicine". She went live on Ellen and said she was suffering bronchitis. Being mental or drunk may be "sexier" ailments for some people, but it appears the reality is more mediocre. Travel and stress doesn't agree very well with MC this year and she's struggling with throat inflammation. She was blind-sighted by a divorce right before Christmas, fired help lawsuits, low propositions for labels that will ultimately not invest much in her work. All that in the past 2 months. You can plan for concert dates, but you can't plan an illness. Throat issues would require last minute changes to the setlist and how you can sing it. Missing a sound check makes it all the worse. The sheer fact MC's best vocals this year came from her Christmas shows only emphasizes how staying in one place with a controlled environment is crucial for her right now. Since Vegas will provide her with those conditions, how the show plays out will be entirely up to what she does.

Re: Gilbert (49,655) by nikki from usa
Thank you Rashidi for those excellent observations. Gilbert, the "earpiece" is an in-ear monitor. When you perform, the sound that goes into the audience is called the "house mix", and it is balanced to produce the best sound for the audience. But, the musicians need to hear themselves, so usually they put speakers on stage facing the musicians (they are on the ground, in front, at an angle). The sound that comes out of those speakers is the "monitor mix". However, instead of speakers on the floor, the musicians have a custom earpiece fitted to their ear for bigger concerts. It's usually wireless, attached to a receiver in their pocket, or on their back. The earpiece acts as the monitor. The sound engineer does a separate mix for the musicians (sometimes different ones for the different musicians) to let them hear themselves and everyone else in the band. Singers usually want to hear themselves very well, even if it's louder than the audience hears it. This way the musicians can hear a different balance of instruments, get what they need to play, and the sound engineer can adjust the audience mix in whatever way works. Only the big concerts use those in-ear monitors. If you go to a club, you'll see speakers on the floor doing the same thing. This is why I'm continually saying this isn't "just" Mariah. She needs better people. This could also be why MC is more comfortable in smaller settings.

Not lipsync / psycho nanny (49,543) by nikki from usa
MC wasn't trying to lipsync. It's clear she was singing live and not being heard. Clearly, the sound tech played the wrong playback with vocals instead of just chorus. There were parts where you could hear MC singing, but barely since the overlap track drowned her out. Again, notice the earpieces. What she's hearing, clearly is not what the crowd is. This shit continues. It began with Triumphant's half time performance, Australia 2013, Elusive tour, Rockefeller, and now this. Mariah fire your sound tech already. You know there's 200 of them back there. That's the problem, it doesn't take 200 to fix a light bulb or an earpiece. MC didn't get rave reviews because she lipped, it's because she sang great live. Unfortunately, this will be the only thing talked about. A nanny fired a year ago wants 100,000 for 3 months of work because her boss was "demanding". That's insane. A personal assistant works 7 years, but never once demands her overtime since there was nothing in her suit that claimed she was refused or denied it. Both aren't represented by any staffing agency, "contract" was never uttered, and each thinks they are an employee. JD and Randy have never managed a superstar and MC's last backup hire was another backup's niece. I'm thinking these women weren't professionals, but hired by recommendation from MC's staff of buddies. It would explain the low pay, lack of negotiations and contracts, and why MC was going through them faster than laundry.
