Least fave songs (54,223)

1. Boy (I Need You): I just think it didn't work. The loop is annoying as hell. I really didn't get why that trend of using chipmunk squeaks were even popular. 2. You Got Me: The loop's the problem again. It's really unnecessary. 3. Hero: It's okay I guess, but it's kinda cheesy and the fact that it's performed so many times made me skip it everytime I listen to Music Box. 4. Forever: I listen to it at times, but again it's cheesy and a bit shallow for Mariah's standards. I like singing it tho because it's easy for a Mariah song. Plus, I sang it to my girlfriend while playing the piano when I asked her to be my gf so I got some good memories to it (I remember like arranging candles to form a heart and asked her to stand in it ).

National Enquirer (54,177)

That article is pure bullshit. The media is just trying to tear down Mariah at this really good time when Mariah is rebuilding her image now. If you're trying to spread a lie through an article, at least post some convincing, well-written article, not that piece of rotten Frito.

Mariah and Britney? (53,957)
by darrian liu from taiwan

Idk about it. It could work, but Mariah's gotta tone down the belting and turn back the whispery vocals of Charmbracelet (just less whispery I guess?). Also, I think it would be cool if Mariah combined her signature RnB sound with Britney's club banger teen pop sound, especially with a dash of EDM. It could be a hit. About the L.A. comment, it could be done on purpose. I don't really think Mariah could be easily motivated by complimenting her or whatever. I think that by underestimating her, she would have that drive back. Look at what happened on 2005. Everybody's declaring her career dead and she just exploded with a blockbuster album and a new string of hits, not to mention the crazy promo. L.A.'s comment could be a whip to get Mariah going even harder.

Another #1 for Mariah (53,934)
by darrian liu from taiwan

Let's face it, we can't hope for Infinity to go #1. I just read that Ester Dean wanna write a song for Mariah Carey. Ester Dean is quite a hitmaker and maybe she could collaborate with Mariah. Maybe Mariah will get another hit off that collab. I'm just hoping that if they ever collaborate, they won't come out with a song like Super Bass or S&M. Those are too mindless and kinda stupid, even for any artist. But they could get Mariah back into the top 20.

Mariah vs Whitney (53,411)
by darrian liu from taiwan

|
I asked my vocal coach about this and he gave me an essay lol, hope it'll help. (I copy pasted this.) Low notes: Mimi wins. Mimi has a more extensive support of her lower register, even down to the 2nd octave. Both have great lower registers, but Whitney's C3s aren't that good. Mimi can support her F2s but sometimes has larynx problems at C3s below. Belt: Tie. Mimi has more ease at notes higher than F#5 than Whitney because Mimi can place her voice in the head at higher notes, plus she's a light lyric coloratura soprano. Lyric voices have easier access to higher notes. Whitney is a spinto soprano, which has more vocal weight. Also, she can't place her voice in the head in higher notes, so she doesn't belt well above F#5/G5. But Whitney belts with more resonance than Mariah, although both can resonate well. Head voice and falsetto: Whitney wins. She has a more developed head voice, which is why her head voice sounds operatic. Mimi does give her a run for her money in this area tho. Both are well-rounded vocally, aside from the very few problems. The reason why Mimi can't give live performances constantly is her nodules. Nodules are evil to the vocal cords. She should've removed those nasty stuff.

Mariah vs Whitney (53,410)
by darrian liu from taiwan

I asked my vocal coach about this thing and he gave me like an analysis on their vocal technique. Hope it'll help. (I just copied this from our chat lol.) Lower notes: Both are great, [...]. But Mariah takes the lead on this one, having a more extensive range in this area. Mariah can support notes in the second octave with ease and resonance. Whitney also has a good lower register, but Mariah edges her with her ease. Belt: It's a tie. Both mixes their voice very well, resulting in their great belts. However, Mariah has a bit more ease in the notes above F#5 since she's a light lyric coloratura soprano which has a lighter voice. Light lyric and full lyric voices can reach higher notes due to their lighter vocal weight. Whitney is a spinto soprano in her prime, which has more volume and weight to her voice. This results in her having to put in a bit more effort in higher notes. Plus, Whitney placed her voice in her mask all the way to her highest belt, which is the ideal placement in the lower to mid belts, but not for the upper belts. Mariah can place her voice in her head, resulting in more ease in the higher belts. However, Whitney balances Mariah in belting as she belts with more resonance than Mariah (both can resonate to great volumes, especially in their prime).

25 years of the empress (53,343)

I've only become a lamb since 2013 (I was born in 2000), but as a child, she gave me a dream that until now, still prevails. When I was 5 years old I heard We Belong Together on the radio and I was blown away. I used to want to be a doctor. I thought I'm gonna be a doctor someday, and nothing was gonna change my little mind. But that long belted note turned my head upside down and I said to myself "I don't wanna be a doctor. I wanna be like her." Since that day, I always knew that someday, I can be as inspiring as her and touch people with my music, my voice, just like the great Mariah Carey. God bless her in everything.

Mimi L (53,332)

I'm really hoping that the BBMAs would resurrect Infinity, as well as the video. I wish that this single won't be another "buzz single". Lol the LA Times interview was amazing, I had the same feeling with Mariah when SIO didn't go #1, I was like damn you WBT can't you like step out of #1 for a week for SIO then just continue your reign the next week? Idk how they would make Infinity climb up the charts again. I think to make it a hit they'll need to re-introduce it with a killer remix. Sam Smith re-did Lay Me Down as a duet with John Legend and it flew into the top 10 immediately.

Sad, but we can still hope (53,292)
by darrian liu from taiwan

Mimi L, yeah it's kinda sad, but it's predictable. Infinity entered the charts due to first week downloads and the string first week streaming. Sales in the second week is weak, and streaming is not as strong as the first week. Yeah, Sony put in a lot more promo for the album cover than the single, kinda weird. But there's still a chance for Infinity to go to sleeper hit status, probably with a killer remix just like what Tove Lo did with Habits (Stay High), plus the video ain't even out yet. The performance later at BBMAs could breathe new life though. It's a pretty big event and if Mariah can give a really good performance, it can boost sales. I'm really wishing that the video would be epic because that can help a lot. The airplay could get some boost too, I think radios there at US don't play Infinity that much. Did Infinity get the same radio push as #Beautiful? From what I remember, #Beautiful was successful because of massive airplay gains.

Infinity fell off BB Hot 100 guys. Guess we should hope it becomes a sleeper hit, or the video goes viral.
