About Eternal from Italy: I've learned incredible new chords playing Mariah's songs on my piano, her songs are real works of art.

Angola concert (40,239) by Eternal from Italy
Does anybody has the links to fan footage of Mariah's concerts in Angola and Lagos? All I can find on YouTube are 16 second clips which seem to show her singing mostly live. It would be interesting to see how MC recovered from that disastrous performance last week.

Whistle note at the end of AIWFCIY performance (40,073) by Eternal from Italy
Do you all hear that whistle note at the end of the AIWFCIY Rockefeller performance (official clip), when she sings the last line of "Christmas"? I watched several fan tapings, but this whistle note was absent. Did she do multiple takes of the same song and dubbed them together? Anyway I thought this and JTTW were very solid performances. She sounded a little less nasal compared to her summer showings, and her runs were better. I've been re-watching some of her past performances (especially the 2001 BET Christmas special) and her voice has gotten that much thinner since then. Still enchanting though.

Memorable Christmas performances (40,026) by Eternal from Italy
I think both Christmas albums were equally good, but the first one, IMHO, just had a more timeless selection of songs. The second was more creative in its song choices, like incorporating hip hop into "Here Comes Santa Claus". Both albums get me into a very festive mood. Since Christmas is less than a month away, I thought this unforgettable performance of "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" could be a good start to the countdown.

Her vocals in this 1991 performance was killer, classic MC. Warm, low yet soaring at the same time. It really showcases her talents. I actually prefer this live version than the one she recorded for her Merry Christmas album. What do you guys think?

TAOLG about Mottola (39,987) by Eternal from Italy
As posters before me have already mentioned, I wouldn't be surprised if TAOLG was really about Tommy Mottola. Read here some extracts of his autobiography about Mariah. I guess for MC to feel such feelings even after 15 years shows that he really had a domineering influence over her ("just a brief little reminder to help myself remember I no longer live in your dominion").
He launched her rise to the top and crafted her downfall to breakdown ("somebody you used to know is flinging your world around and they watch as you're falling down"). And in his memoir, he even dared to make it sound as if his obsession with her was the ultimate key to her success ("your audacity is too much to be believed"). That's why it is the art of letting go, letting go of her own feelings towards her ex I guess, and to be immune to what he may say. Of course, we're all just guessing but since Mariah said this song was very "personal" to her, this just seems like the most plausible reason.

Listen to TAOLG with #Beautiful (39,781) by Eternal from Italy
I think this new album is shaping up to be a new Mariah classic. TAOLG takes on a new significance when you listen to it together with #Beautiful, that same throwback, minimal feel. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a few songs (like the one with Nas) similar to the sound of "The roof" and "Breakdown". Obviously the voice is still captivating but not as smooth and agile as it used to be, but who else among today's generation of singers can create an album with real music like she does (Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are not real music, IMHO)? We talk about Adele and though she does have some really spectacular songs like "Someone like you" along with a unique voice, it doesn't have the same thrilling tones and textures of MC's. Nor does she has the legendary career yet. She still needs to prove herself. One successful album does not a legend make. MC has no competition, she's always been way ahead of her peers, and the only person she has to surpass is her ownself, circa the 90s. Mariah Carey 90s vs Mariah Carey 2000s, I guess we can call it.
