About John from USA: Mariah fan from day one.

Mariah the "actor" and "artist in the MTV era" (84,194) by John from USA Mariah is a woman of contradictions. For someone who has a strong desire to act and be in motion pictures, she complains about having to be "de-glamorized" for her role in Precious. Don't real "actors" relish the idea to transform into another person and be transported to a different world than their own in a movie? Similarly in music videos, she seems content in music videos where she just looks sexy, shows her ample cleavage (we know you have boobies, Mimi), and cavorts/humps different furniture. Wouldn't someone who has "acting aspirations" actually strive to have more challenging and engaging videos with actual story lines where she could have the opportunity to "act"? Odd indeed. It's a phrase that means something to me (not necessarily good, not necessarily bad either), and I think may mean something to Mariah too, given her current situation. That is all. Did Mariah betray her gift or did it betray her? (80,552) by John from USA After all this hullabaloo about Mariah being back in the studio with a wine glass in hand, I just came across an interview circa Butterfly CD era, where she says she has to try to take care of her voice, but also admits how she fancies herself a drink: "I like myself a little glass of champagne every now and then." Makes me wonder: did Mariah betray her gift or does she feel betrayed by her gift? When she was just starting, she used to talk about her voice and her songwriting as gifts that brought her new opportunities in life. Makes me wonder if she just stopped caring or this is her reacting to how her gift abandoned her. She used to be harder on herself too, like when she would comment on how she would've sung a song differently if she had a chance to because she wasn't satisfied with the vocals. I just wonder, because there have been times, if she feels she has something to prove and discipline herself enough (or when forced to, such as when she was pregnant), her voice does seem stronger. I hope that along with the new packaging comes some high end, well-directed music videos with actual concepts/storylines and not just Mariah doing "look at me be sexy" poses nonstop. Golden Globes Best Original Song - Motion Picture (80,303) by John from USA "This Is Me" from "The Greatest Showman" won. Congrats, still, to Mariah and Marc Shaiman, for the nomination. Hopefully, the best is still to come for this year. (Monday 8 January 2018; 03:30)

NYE performance (80,215) by John from USA Relieved it went well. In this live performance, Mariah still had shades of her early 90s tone in some of her belts and runs, which gives me hope that if she takes it seriously, and starts taking care of her voice and value it more instead of her love for the bubbly, we may see another "Emancipation" album. As for her diva antics being the first internet meme of 2018, I say better be associated with tea than alcohol. Everyone: send Mimi some tea. (Tuesday 2 January 2018; 02:59)
