About Ryan from the Philippines:
What I love about Mariah is her unique vocal abilities: from hitting the lowest to highest possible notes, amazing background vocals skills, fluid voice layering, etc. IMO, she's the only singer who can do almost all singing techniques out there perfectly. That is to include her songwriting prowess. Not to mention how many times her songs Make It Happen, Hero and Through The Rain saved my life. Our lives.
Fan since: 2002 (Charmbracelet/Through The Rain era) Favorite albums: Butterfly and The Emancipation of MiMi Favorite ballad: Love Takes Time Favorite uptempo/dance songs: Fantasy and Heartbreaker (Regular Versions) Favorite RnB track: Slipping Away Favorite Remixes: H.A.T.E.U and TGIFY (Make it Last) Favorite holiday tracks: AIWFCIY and Joy To The World Favorite remakes: Open Arms and Against All Odds Favorite live performance: If Only You knew/Somewhere Over the Rainbow Medley Favorite collaboration: One Sweet Day with BoyzIIMen

AIWFCIY on Hot 100 (36,954)

Glad to know that "Christmas" has returned to Hot 100 and has logged its highest 18 years since its release. This classic song deserves to be #1, really. It's one of Mariah's songs that will be remembered forever. Reaching the top spot within a short span of time like Christmas (which only lasts about 2 months) is hard, but I think the only way to get in there is for Mariah to promote and sing it everwhere like what she did with WBT.

Oh dear, I've just watched Mariah's performance on YouTube and I thought it was so fantastic. She looked so relaxed and confident, and she looked amazing. I enjoyed Christmas Time Is In The Air Again performance alot. It was perfect. And if I wasn't deaf or what, I think she sang 100% live fo both songs. She is just so back.

I agree, and I don't want to see Mariah smoking methamphetamine in her videos. It is not right to compare her videos to other singers. I love Rihanna, but she is of a different level.

I agree with you. BIOH sounds really like Slipping Away, that is why I said on my previous post that the song is Daydream-ish. Sometimes I feel like it's also the same vein with Make It Happen and Fly Like A Bird. But generally, Bring It On Home sounds unique and classic on its own right. Beautifully made, not overproduced, soothing to the ears, I can actually listen and go to sleep with it. Lol. 5 stars to Mariah.

Bring It On Home (36,688)

Ok, so the complete live version of this track leaked. Just on time for Pres. Obama's win and all I can say is wow. Two thumbs up for Mariah, her vocals, the back up singers and melody - very Daydream-ish. I like it. I've been longing for her to sing an old school, real ballad. I wish they'll release this record.

E=MC2 (36,626)

Until today, I still thought this album has alot to offer. It's a fun album, and one of her best IMO to date. It's like the first time you listen to it, and you'll get hooked up. It's one of her records that I don't skip, unlike Memoirs (sorry). But unfortunately, the promotion was not maintained which eventually caused its failure on the succeeding singles being released, the performances, or whatever the reasons were. I just thought if Migrate was followed up immediately after TMB, she may have enjoyed the most #1 hits today. Who knows if I Stay In Love, Side Effects, Cruise Control and Last Kiss followed next in line, the whole album may have enjoyed the same success or more than what its predecessor did. I hope they're not going to make the same mistakes again and again. Just a thought. Sigh.

Chart position (36,621)
by Ryan from the Philippines

It's hard for Mariah to hit the top spot lately because the management as a whole isn't working as hard as some people did in TEOM and early of E=MC2. Also, if Mariah have to double her effort vocally and bring back the moving performances like she did in TEOM, another #1 hit is not too far. BTW, it's also hard to penetrate charts nowadays since the common trend of tracks being on top spot are songs that do not have the depth, sense. Even if you have the worst voice in the world, you can have number 1.

Mariah Carey: Greatest Hits 2 (36,565)
by Ryan from the Philippines
| |
|
|
If there will be another installment of the Greatest Hits anytime soon, it should start from the Glitter album since the first greatest hits comprised only of the released tracks that started and ended all throughout her Sony career. Sony has been and will be realeasing different Greatest Hits formats, but the tracks are all the same with only few changes. While she has been recording albums in the past 12 years outside Sony and the first Greatest Hits came out only after 11 years, the second installment is long overdue IMO. If I had to choose the tracks it would be as follows: 1. Loverboy Remix 2. Lead The Way 3. Never Too Far 4. Through The Rain 5. Bringin' On The Heartbreak 6. It's Like That 7. We Belong Together 8. Shake It Off 9. Don't Forget About Us 10. Touch My Body 11. Bye Bye 12. I'll Be Loving You Long Time 13. Obsessed 14. I Want To Know What Love Is Bonus Tracks: 15. I Miss You 16. H.A.T.E.U Remix

The Dream, again (36,546)
by Ryan from the Philippines
| |
|
|
As much as I want to resist this team-up, it's already official and we have no choice if Mariah wants to work with him. I'll just cross my fingers instead, and hope they'll do something different, somewhat far from TMB, Obsessed and the likes which I didn't really appreciate. I'd say The Dream made good RnB tracks off Memoirs, but the whole production was somewhat lacking, sounds the same and filled with unecessary elements, i.e. male vocals in Ribbon. I think it's enough that they'll work with 1 or 2 tracks.

Triumphant/Obama on MiMi (36,501)
by Ryan from the Philippines
| |
|

Congratulations Mariah, Triumphant has finally made it to the top of the Billboard chart. It may not be the Top 100, but still it's a feat. I said it before, they should have ventured more on the remixes, especially the Vintage Mix. On the other hand, I won't be surprised if Pres. Obama chooses Mariah over Nicki. I honestly like some of her music, but I think she was just so disrespectful to Mariah. She just bursted out like a child to the point where she looked like a real loser for not handling MC's "highness" lol.

MC and R. Kelly (36,378)
by Ryan from the Philippines

So happy to see them working together face to face, as we all know they've worked on Betcha Gon' Know before, but they just added Kelly's vocals. I hope it's a ballad or a midtempo. Looking forward for her next project. I think it was a wise decision to delay the album's release until next year and revamp what is needed to be revamped and to halt what is not working.

Jazz album (36,320)
by Ryan from the Philippines

I think it's not a bad idea at all. We love her doing the slow jams so as singing ballads so if this idea pushes through, I think it won't hurt. Some people say MC should do an Adele-ish album packed with ballads, if she ventures to jazz and soul with the new project it will be very fresh.

Funny how non-lambs/fans and press appreciate the new single, especially the NFL performance while the lambs keep hating on it. Lol. Whatever it is, I still love the song, the vintage throwback and the live performance.

Next remake/cover (36,245)
by Ryan from the Philippines
| |
|
|
I have always been a fan of rock ballads and enjoy listening to Mariah covering them and making them as her own. For the next album, and I've always been wanting this ever since, is for her to do a remake of Survivor's 'The Search Is Over'. I think Mariah's voice will do good on this track knowing that she can always give justice in covering songs. Just a thought.
