About Jenny from South Africa:
I love reading and listening to music. Celine and Mariah are my favourite singers of all time. Have loved them both since 1993.

If you're going to complain about all MC's bad moves, then at least get all your facts straight. Barbara is the one who called Mariah. Barbara said that from the beginning. You sound like quite an expert. I guess you've also sold over 200 million albums.

I'm glad to have new music (37,462)

I'm just grateful that Mariah still makes music that I enjoy and love. I'd also love if she had more number ones, but honestly, I was worried she would stop making music after she fell pregnant (which I would completely understand after 20-something years of music making). But she's still releasing music and I genuinely still love her new music so I'm happy. Celine is also working on a new album and I'm grateful for that too, because they are my 2 all time favourites.

Almost Home (37,295)

I just adore this song. I really don't hear any similarities to Rihanna's voice in the song, but I'm a fan of Rihanna, so it wouldn't be a trainsmash to me if there's any. First listen I also didn't immediately recognise Mariah's voice in verse 1, but on the second listen I did. The chorus is catchy right from the first listen though. And everytime I listen to the song, I love the whole thing more and more. I think this will be a much easier song to sing live than Triumphant. I would love for this song to be a commercial success, but even if it isn't, I'm just thrilled to have a new MC song I can listen to over and over again and enjoy like crazy. It's such a feel-good song.

Wow "vacant useless comments"? That seems very rude and harsh. You can be honest without sounding disrespectful. Maybe you didn't mean it to be rude, but it came across that way. Just saying.

Thanks Stacey, I definitely feel reassured now. I've always believed MC is a genuinely kind, caring person so I just got a little worried that I'd been wrong for the last 20 years lol. I feel guilty for doubting her now lol. Sorry Mariah, I love you.

Idol and Hope Street (37,115)
by Jenny from South Africa

Ok, judging from the comments posted by those of you who managed to watch Idol properly (unlike me, lol), I have to assume the articles I read bashing MC were just from biased haters. That's such a relief, I was stressing that I would be disappointed when it finally hits S.A. screens. Ok I am officially looking forward to watching it now. Thanks guys. This new single seems like it's gonna be amazing. I'm so excited for it. I just adore big ballads.

I think maybe the fans who were against MC joining Idol were right after all. I was happy when I heard she was joining but she and Nicki both seem to be getting a lot of criticism in the press over it. It hasn't started in South Africa yet, so I've only seen a few short clips on YouTube. Hopefully after the episode with the big blow up, they will both stop arguing so much and making themselves look immature in the eyes of the press and the public. People do seem to enjoy Mariah more when she focuses on the contestants and not on Nicki. I hate that the press is using their fights to make Mariah seem egotistical and petty. And I'm just talking about the negative press I've been reading, because like I said, I haven't actually seen the full shows for myself. For all I know, the press could just be exaggerating things to make her look bad as usual. And they are making Nicki look bad too, so at least it's not a one sided thing.

Music box (36,960)
by Jenny from South Africa

I agree. I think this song is so beautiful and sweet. Beautiful vocals and lyrics and music. I love the music box sound tinkling in the background. It's a masterpiece. I love that Mariah seems to keep the best songs on each album as unreleased. Like a gift to the fans who actually bought the album. I've always felt some of the best songs on each album were never released as singles. Most artists release the best songs and the other songs on the album are average. Except my other girl Celine. She also has awesome songs that don't get released as singles.

I don't know if I'm just imagining things, but in that picture Nick posted of Monroe, her face just reminds me so much of that picture of Mariah as a child playing in the sand in her #1's album sleeve. Both pics are just so adorable.

Don't stress about the tabloids. Nick already tweeted and laughed that nonsense off. I don't think MC or Nick take tabloids seriously at all ever. Lol. In regards to NFL, I also think it should be majority uptempo. I would like to hear Emotions. I think it qualifies as uptempo?

Hi Licia. I would die of happiness if she duetted with Celine. I'd also like to see her sing with Toni Braxton, Beyonce, Enrique, Shakira. Also Mary J Blige. George Michael. Maybe Elton John.

Fave songs (36,135)
by Jenny from South Africa

I also love Now That I Know. It's fun and relate-able. I also think When I Saw You on the Daydream album is an absolute gem. Angels Cry (original and Neyo remix) is beautiful too. MC's version of Do You Know Where You're Going To is my favourite version of that song. I also adore I Wish You Well on E=MC2. Her vocals on that song are awesome and I love the song's message. Emotions and Without You will always be my ultimate MC songs though. Emotions is crazy fun to sing along to and her high notes in that song knock me dead each time I listen. And Without You is sung with so much emotion and showcases her underrated low notes. And she holds that note near the end for ages. Love it love it love it! Honestly though there are so many MC songs I adore. Its hard to pick a few. I feel like I'm leaving out numerous amazing songs. Lol.

Charts (36,117)

Hey guys. RibbonB, I always agree with your opinions. I love how positive you are. You always make me feel proud to be a Mariah fan and you make me smile. Anyway, I just wanted to point out that even though whenever MC hits number 1 I am insanely happy for her, I really don't think chart positions are the be-all and end-all at this point in her career. She's already had more number 1's that any other solo artist and she's broken plenty of records in her heyday. I really don't think she has anything to prove any more and I think she feels like that too. I'm glad she is making music that she loves and is proud of. She used to always bend over backwards trying to please everyone, which led to her exhaustion in 2001 and I'm glad she's putting herself first now. As a fellow people-pleaser, I have to say it's stressful and tiring. Not everyone is going to love all her songs. Everyone has unique tastes. And radio does prefer to play the younger artists like Rihanna and Katy Perry. And there are still fans out there who love her new music. Just check her twitter mentions.

Stacey (36,092)

Hi Stacey. I don't think you prefer her no-rapper music more because of when you became a fan. You say you became a fan in 1993 and so did I. And I love both, just MC and MC plus rappers. Which type of song I play just depends on my mood on any given day. Lol. I guess it's really just that everyone has their own unique preferences for different reasons. I personally think its possible for songs with rappers to be moving. Side Effects is an example. It was such a personal and moving song, even thought it had a rapper and it wasn't a ballad. I do also love her older stuff though. Emotions and Without You are 2 of my favourite songs ever.

I absolutely adore the idea of Lenny being a judge on Idol with MC. That would be so awesome. I hope the powers-that-be at Idol give MC's suggestion some thought. I'd like to throw Will Smith into it too. He would be hilarious and he's also an old friend of MC.
