You hit the nail on the head when you said Mariah isn't respected in songwriting because of her image. That's so true. Most people see Mariah as a diva ditzy dumb blonde. Even Mariah knows it. I wish people would look past the cleavage and diva stuff and just look at Mariah's sining and writing.

WMA (44,174)

Uh oh Mariah was delayed 4 hours to the WMA. She was going to a club to launch her album and was supposed to be there at 5:30 but got there at 9:30. She also brought her lighting guy. I hope the delays don't affect her performance because now Mariah has to tear it up at the WMA because once the word gets out everyone's gonna scream diva.

I bought the deluxe edition and I'm not exactly pleased. TAOLG is my favorite Mariah song so I like that and The Wrap is good. It feels like it should be on the album. I like the talking as an intro, and even though it's not resung it sounds good. BGK is not worthy of being on the album. I would have rather seen Save The Day instead. While R. Kelly is an amazing singer he doesn't fit well with this song. His lyrics are ok but the echos on his voice and the way they cut out the I'm a la la la la la laugh part and lazily edited his part in sorta ruins the song. The album at this point is already over an hour long so why not just add a thirrd verse and do a chorus. I'm really disappointed you get together 3 of the best R&B artists and you get mediocre results.

Cursing (44,144)
by Darryle from USA
| |
|
|
I bought the explicit version of the album and I'm fine with it because cursing doesn't bother me but I'm a little confused on what Mariah or iTunes considers explicit. On dedicated she says sh*t so it should be explicit but on Thirsty all she says is a** and damn. She also shss sh*t on this song. Why put an explicit sign if there aren't any curse words and why shh on this track but not dedicated. Lastly on It's A Wrap she says sh*t aswell. If she's going to say a curse word that is considered explicit she or iTunes should put an explicit sign by it. Other than these songs I am cool with the cursing. Although what made her start doing it because mostly she blocks the words or doesn't use them? Maybe she wanted to be more free in her lyrics so she started cursing.

Me I am Mariah charts (44,102)

#1 in 18 countries. #32 in the USA. If these charts are any prediction of the first week sales I'd say Mariah's could be at least 100k.

Nick (43,992)
by Darryle from USA
| |
|
|
I think it's safe to say that a sizeable chunk of the songs are about Nick or her marriage. At least 1/3 of them. This is the first time we really get to see what Mariah's writing about her marriage. If she wrote about him on E=MC2 she didn't get to go in depth with it because they were still dating. On Memoirs they were in the honeymoon phase because it was the first year they were married. Now they've been married for a while so we get to hear a lot more about fights and breakups and love. That being said Mariah said herself that not all songs are about nick. She said it on the MTV interview when asked if the songs are about Nick.

Do the whistle notes at the end of Dedicated remind anyone of the notes on "All in your mind" or is it just me?

Heavenly (43,945)
by Darryle from USA

Rapt his song has to be my favorite gospel song by Mariah. I love the preaching in the beginning and the record scratches at the end. I feel like this song was recorded in a church. The ending where she's saying stuff like he brought me and hallelujah and the choir is backing her up definitely sounds like they recorded from a church. I can just imagine Mariah standing up there with a choir behind her and she's just anointing the whole congregation singing this song.

Cohesiveness (43,938)
by Darryle from USA
| |
|
|
I get the whole cohesiveness thing Mariah was talking about. After a listen it hit me why she didn't want a single. If you listen to YDKWTD, Beautiful, and Thirsty you don't get the feel of the album. When you release a single that's what people judge by. If you release 2 uptempos and 1 ballad people assume your album is mostly uptempos when that may no be true. With this album if you focus on the singles you miss out on the journey Mariah's been through and you don't get to hear her peaks and valleys through song. You'll miss out on the gems of the album. MIAM needs to be heard as a cohesive record or you miss out on Mariah.

Revaluation (43,936)
by Darryle from USA
| |
|
|
I listened to the album again and my opinion has changed. My first review was all positive but that was because the album was out and I wasn't really listening to the music just fan manning over having new music. After two listens I've decided this album is a 4.5/5 stars. It's got all the elements to be a hit album. The only thing is sometimes instrumentation and production mess up the song. For example the Heavenly drum track messes up that song and the background vocals on Dedicated along with the instrumentation makes it feel somewhat busy. Despite these minor things this album is still a hit and is joining the ranks of Butterfly and Daydream. Mariah was really experimental with the sound of this album and it really paid off. You get something new that still sounds slightly reminiscent of her. Her vocals are top notch. Fav tracks: Supernatural, Dedicated, Cry., Meteorite, and Camouflage.

They fixed the song Money with Fabulous. It's there now you can listen to it. The Memoirs songs won't be on the first play. They are only giving the clean standard edition of the album. So no Memoirs or curse words until May 27th.

World Music Awards (43,847)
by Darryle from USA
| |

|
This is the performance for this era. This has to be the performance where everyone is like Mariah just anointed us she just took us to church etc. This is the "Standing O" performance that she needs to get album off the ground. If she sings, dances (not likely), and works the stage even if it's just running back and forth and spinning in a circle then everyone will praise the performance. There can't be any hint of lip synching even if she does because if people think she is she'll definitely be called out for it. The WMA performance needs to be the performance were the lambs go to show the goats that Mariah still has it. She needs to snatch some wigs with this one. We need a performance and not just singing.

Album (43,844)
by Darryle from USA

Ugh this album has given me life. It's a phenomenal album 10/10. This album is so different from what Mariah's ever done. Even with the comparisons you can find Mariah makes it so different that you can't really compare. I'm trying so hard to not give anything away right now. Every song has a different feel to it. This album really is a journey that takes you through her peaks and valleys. This album in my option has knocked TEOM out of the holy trinity of albums. It sounds like I'm exaggerating but I don't think I am. This album in my opinion is her best since Butterfly. It's the perfect mix of ballads up tempos and mid tempos. Not to many collabs the mix of hip hop, pop, and R&B is perfect. I can see why this album took so long to make. You can almost feel Mariah's perfectionism through this album with all the minor details; it really was all the tiny things that kept her in the studio. This album's low point is YME, it sticks out because it's not up to par with the other songs. All the songs really are stand out songs but my favs are: Supernatural, Camouflage, Heavenly, One More Try, and Make It Look Good. The writing, production, vocals, and instrumentation for this album are on point. This was definitely worth the wait. To all those saying you wouldn't buy please do you won't regret it. I hope people don't sleep on this like MOAIA. Mariah promote this and you can have another chart topper.

Supernatural (43,840)
by Darryle from USA

This song is so amazing. It's got like a fairytale/lullaby sound to it. It's like the impossible 2.0 but so much better. Roc and Roe can really sing. I thought when Mariah said they were singing that it was more like drawn out talking but they are for real singing. They're pretty good too.

Thirsty (43,781)
by Darryle from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah instagramed a short video of the album and single covers with Thirsty as background music. Seeing this now I'm confused on whether or not she's dropping it. Normally when she drops something she just doesn't acknowledge it. So maybe it will be a single and she just didn't perform it at the summer concert.

For the lambily (43,774)
by Darryle from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah and a lot of other people have said this album is for the lambily and after listening to all the songs we've gotten I get what she means. She's been doing songs for geared for each part of the lambily. Beautiful was for the pop lovers, The Art Of Letting Go was a ballad for lambs who like simple ballads like VOL, YME was a ballad for those who like R&B ballads like WBT, Thirsty for the hop lovers, and YDK is kind of for everyone because you aren't hearing many negative complaints. I feel like this is the reason some songs have had such mixed reviews. The songs are geared so much for one specific type of song that some people are bound to not like it. If the album lives up to the stuff we've gotten so far it could definitely be one of her best.

Thirsty and YDKWTD (43,773)
by Darryle from USA
| |
|
|
I have two theories for what she's going to do with these songs. The first is do like Beyoncé and release both songs but to different radio genres. Thirsty to r&b and hip hop and YDK to top 40 pop. If she did this it would boost sales because she'd be doing all genres and getting all types of people to buy. My second one is that she dropped Thirsty because of its mixed reviews. People saying it's about Damizza saying it sound like N***** in Paris. If she did drop it I'm not surprised or disappointed because what we got next was better.

Single (43,759)
by Darryle from USA
| |
|
|
If Mariah decides to release a single it needs to be YDKWTD. That song is ridiculously catchy. It goes with the disco trend but it still sounds like Mariah. It's uptempo but has a piano intro. This sing is the definition of a first single/hit single. I can't wait to see the video if there is one. I'd love for it to be 70's themed. In a roller rink with background dancers on skates. It would be super cute if she put Nick in the video and they re enacted a scene from roll bounce. We'll I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
