About RibbonB from USA: I love Mariah's Music.

Zachary/timeless songs (36,814) by RibbonB from USA
I agree with you Zachary. The real interesting thing is to date, Rihanna has amassed a few number one singles but she has never had a number one CD. That's very telling about today's music and so called number one artists. Lol. If this cd of hers goes number one, it will be her first according to Billboard as of 11/21/2012. And anyone who thinks Emotions isn't a classic hit is nuts. Lol. Don't Forget About Us, Touch My Body, Always Be My Baby, Emotions, My All, Mariah's list of timeless songs goes on and on. Some and I say some people may not like TMB, but they can never forget it. I have no idea what Rihanna's number ones are. Lol.

Halo Awards/Aussie press (36,785) by RibbonB from USA
Mariah and Nick looked great. The show is really cute and seems to get better and better every year. I can't wait for the day when dem babies are old enough to attend the Kids Choice awards with Nick and Mariah. As for the Australian press, it's a non issue right now and MC may have a lovely welcome when the time comes.

The genius of Ribbon (36,776) by RibbonB from USA
I was just listening to one of my fave songs, esp off of Memoirs, and I love the song all over again. I wish I could hear Mariah perform a stripped down version of it, with a group like Take Six or one of these clever vocal groups. I really believe that would be awesome and oh so memorable. I simply love the ending of Ribbon.

That is morbid, not cool for a fan site. IMO.

Berry Gordy built careers (36,753) by RibbonB from USA
Now there's a man who built a record label, changed music in so many ways and built the foundations of countless careers from Michael Jackson to Diana Ross and the Supremes, the Temptations etc. And Gordy wrote music himself, which many don't know or seem to forget. Love him or hate him, and many of his artists did both, he has built a legacy in the music industry and culture in general. Mariah wrote her songs and sang them like no other. She started on a good established label and yes the co. exec had a vested interest, but he did what any good business man would have done, he signed a fantastic star, Mariah did the rest.

Here's the thing (36,739) by RibbonB from USA
Many people achieved their greatest successes working with or for Mariah, but none of them have achieved that with other acts. Mariah is a force unto herself. And I believe she achieved it despite some of these characters, TM especially. She keeps shining, despite the fact that many of her so called supporters, helpers etc want to claim credit for this and that. Many were just along for the ride and some were dragging on her coat tails. It is what it is and it aint what it aint and she is still standing.

Mariah's success belongs to Mariah (36,737) by RibbonB from USA
Everybody else is a footnote to her success, lol. Every artist has a moment, or apex of their career. Mariah's just happened to be in the beginning of hers. Her voice and talent started in an era where the timing was right, her age was right etc etc. TEOM was another milestone, but every career has peaks and valleys, otherwise it's just one plateau. Mariah is blessed and is a legend no matter what else she does. The great thing about her is she is not trying to replicate anything, she keeps moving forward. Bring it on home.

Bring It (36,703) by RibbonB from USA
The song is pretty good. I love how smooth Mariah's voice is on the song. Yay, Obama. I hope Roe gets a picture with the President, the one of Roc and Michelle Obama is priceless.

Of course, none of us is perfect, but we've never seen Mariah slamming other artists and picking fights. MC goes about her business of being a singer/songwriter, now mom and wife and yes a diva. But if MC being a diva grates folks nerves so much, it's really their problem. One unprofessional outburst by Nicki caught on tape is one thing, but to carry that over onto her reality show is just opportunistic and petty. I wasn't interested in Nicki before and I certainly won't watch her show. I only hope Idol makes it because of MC, otherwise that show is played out.

Carly (36,675) by RibbonB from USA
Yes, Nicki needs to have several seats. She is way too full of herself. I think her little excuse of a "reality" show is going to flop. And she is just doing what many lessers have done before her, she's using Mariah's name for the attention. We saw it with Macy Gray, Madonna, Christina, and the original obsessed Clown rapper. It's unfortunate, because Idol had a chance to end with some class, instead they funked it up big time by adding the latest rap clown female edition - Nicki. Lol.

Idol producers (36,662) by RibbonB from USA
Mariah should be upset, if that post is correct. I always believed Idol producers let that tape leak. They really are the pitts, but I will be checking the show for MC. The rest of them are just extras. Lol.

Dem bears (36,640) by RibbonB from USA
Lol, dem babies are so damn adorable. Look at those legs. I hope they share a pic of dem babies standing up in their costumes. Or better yet, a video of them enjoying the day.

Recycling (36,634) by RibbonB from USA
Well, if she's using her dresses wisely, I dont mind. But these recycled E=MC2 theories are laughable. Lol. Bottom line, people who wanted to buy E=MC2 bought it. The record had excellent promotion and did its thing in an era of declining music sales, especially for R&B based music. It also garnered Mariah her 18th number one. Despite Adele or Taylor Swifts's sales in this deep recession, ladies of R&B have been hard hit, even major divas who had massive first week sales for example, Mariah in 2008 with her biggest opener, Sade in early 2010 with a huge opener after a ten year layoff and Whitney somewhere in the middle. All three of these ladies are legends and had great openers but with massive drop offs and minimal radio airplay. And people love to blame good old Nick, but neither Sade or Whitney got married, let alone to young Nick. Lol. Some people just continue to attach their bias to NC, to sales of that record. But in all honesty, the record did what it did and if any fans didn't buy it because of her new husband, then they arent fans of MC. I wonder if people who continue to perpetuate that vibe actually bought E=MC2 or if they just troll around to keep recycling negativity.

Yes, mother and daughter are stunning with their stunners on. I just love Dem Babies and I'm sure there has got to be a song or two about these little cuties. Sade (Rae Rae's daughter) said on twitter than Roe is far sighted, so it's good her eyes are being corrected early on.

Trends (36,575) by RibbonB from USA
Jamie, JLo never set trends IMO and Madonna hasn't set one since her heyday in the 80's. If then, Mariah does her own thing and continues to innovate and even if she replicates that's ok, because she's still one of the best. Adele isnt setting trends, she is just having her moment and that's just fine for her. Mariah has been there and done that too. I'm hoping for more Mariah timeless music, not necessarily trendy music. She is above all the simple stuff popular today. Even when she plays it down, her stuff is better than the schlock, which is one of the reasons TMB was her 18th number one, even if some think it was beneath her. Dream could sit out another CD, for my tastes, but I imagine they will have a good song.

Lol. I wasn't going to say anything, but I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure a Whitney board would appreciate her list.

Congrats to Mariah for her 16th #1 Club hit. Go MC. Triumphant is plugging along until her new record release.

Influence/Stevie Nicks (36,481) by RibbonB from USA
Rad Chad, yes Mariah has said that Stevie Wonder and Aretha were her biggest influences and Motown, basically the music her brother played around the house. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it doesn't make it a fact. Saying without Whitney there would be no Mariah is an exaggeration, just as saying that without Amy Winehouse there would be no Adele. It's really not true. People forget Phyllis Hyman and Angela Bofill who came before Mariah and Whitney and Sade led the British Soul genre and still does in my opinion. Of course people tried to label Amy and Adele soul, which is erroneous and now there is hardly a mention of that. Both are soulful at times, lol. As for Stevie Nicks, she gets a sideye for jumping in the Idol issue then apologizing. Perhaps she did that to set an example for Nicki to apologize. Funny, but Stevie has been involved with Idol too.

Desiree (36,452) by RibbonB from USA
Perhaps you need to get real. Lot's of people go off inappropriately, but even if their buttons are pushed, each person is in control of their own behavior. Just like Chad lost all of his jobs for an inappropriate head butt. I'm sure his wife was running her mouth, as is her prerogative, but a head butt is an over reaction. You get up and leave, check in later with calmer heads. Maybe he'd still have one of his jobs today. Same with nut case Minaj, if M was pushing her buttons, she had any number of more professional ways to respond. No one thinks MC is perfect, but she does behave professionally. Blame the Idol producers who probably set them both up, taped the scene and released in to fellow Fox show TMZ. But it's pretty immature to blame MC for Nicki's immature, pitiful behavior. Nicki acted dumb, insecure, loudmouthed, and unprofessional. She should be fired, but Fox is having too much fun with the bullshit. Nicki says she isn't a role model and she definitely isn't for me, but we could tell her young impressionable fans that her way is not the right way to behave at work. Period.

Carla (36,450) by RibbonB from USA
I agree, Mariah was not disrespectful to Madonna, in fact her slight shade was in response to something Madonna allegedly said about her. Mariah has been very respectful of other artists her entire career, almost never referring to others by name and rarely giving into baits to shade other artists. And nothing Mariah allegedly said warrants the Nicki Minaj show of aggression, whether staged or not. American Idol is dumb for the whole thing. The key thing is, there are nuts get caught up in news stories and you never know who is crazy out there. At the end of the day, Nicki is nothing but a fad and she shall fade away.

Desiree (36,407) by RibbonB from USA
Nicki is responsible for her own out of control behavior. And if any "normal" person snapped like that at work, they'd be fired. And we don't know what MC said or didn't say, all we really hear is what Nicki barked out. I do believe Idol and Fox are responsible for this "leak" and all for press. They need to clean this up.
