Re: Mariah's greatest lyric (90,163) (90,164) by Special K from USA
You're right it ain't that deep. On another note, I think Mariah may have three classics that other generations will want to sing. Am I missing a song?

All I Want For Christmas Is You
Hero
Always Be My Baby

Re: Mariah's greatest lyric (90,145) (90,153) by Special K from USA
I thought the intent was to site [sic] a lyric, as in "one" lyric or phrase that stands out, has depth, genius, beautiful, and well written. To me if your are going to site [sic] a whole damn song, then it's more like "songs, or a song, with the greatest lyrics", as in plural. Whomever thought of the subject if they happy with folks posting a whole damn song then Special K loves it.

Re: Madame X (90,097) (90,100) by Special K from USA
Hmm, I think Take A Bow edges out Secret but that damn Hung Up slaps the dog mess out of both of those songs. I'll take old school Madonna anyday. I was listening to Everybody, Lucky Star, Angel, Holiday and Dress You Up the other day straight getting my dance groove on. Madonna's catalog is bannanas. I have the majority of Madonna's albums but she kind of lost me with Ray Of Light but redeemed herself with Music. Hard Candy was a hot mess. Confessions On The Dance Floor and Bedtimes Stories are her best albums in my opinion. I'm still going to give Madame X a try.

Re: Lead the Way (89,945) (89,949) by Special K from USA
Girl I saw Mariah perform in Concord, Ca during the Charmbracelet tour. I almost passed out when she sang Bringing On The Heartbreak. Epic. Her voice sounded better during the CB tour than the Rainbow tour. TAOM tour Mariah lipped often and had a back track playing but she was so fun and engaging. You know what the more I type the more I get pissed off because the Caution tour didn't come to Cali.

Re: Lead the Way (89,922) (89,936) by Special K from USA
Naw, there is no copy and paste in Lead The Way. I have said it before and I will say it again, Glitter is Mariah's last powerhouse vocal album period. I do agree LTW should have been single but they went with Never Too Far Away which is another superior powerhouse vocal track. During the Rainbow tour Mariah's voice was in great shape. During the Charmbracelet tour her voice was in epic shape even though the album vocals do not reflect that. Imagine if she sang LTW during the Charbracelet tour. I can't even deal.

72 hours (89,913) by Special K from USA
Randy was attacked by an extreme rare aggressive virus that has taken over his brain and made him metamorphise into Mr. Killjoy. Here in Cali Special K has been working vigorously on a liguid serum that will cure Randy before it's too late. I only have 72 hours to save Randy before it's too late.

Re: Five most iconic Mariah recordings (89,783) (89,795) by Special K from USA
1. Vision of Love - Introduction of melisma. Towards the end of the song when Mariah sings, "and it was all" by making the word "all" a freaking 100 word syllable was absolutely chilling along with introducing the high note which was a freak of nature.
2. Emotions - Really showcasing the richness of that lower registry along with hitting those iconic high notes bouncing in synch with the upbeat "make you feel good" piano playing of the late great David Cole is pure perfection. You also felt personality coming from that voice.
3. Love You Till The End Of Time - Just pure perfection. Mariah showcases all facets of her voice along with bombastic power, prowless, and pure raw emotion. Sometimes I straight cry when I hear that song.
4. Always Be My Baby - Is a GOAT. Historic classic. Hands down Top 3 greatest pop songs of all time ever.
5. All I Want For Christmas - Another GOAT. Mariah is guaranteed a hit song every year, lol. No disrespect towards to Ms. Mariah but it's really the background singers that "carry" that song.
5. We Belong Together - Yes, I have to sneak in WBT. This song is a return to prominence. This song is historic, broke all kinds of records. If another singer ever tries to sing WBT they outta get they ass kicked.

Re: Music Box and Slipping Away (89,747) (89,756) by Special K from USA
I can't believe Mariah sang Music Box. I would have have straight passed out if I was there. Hey guys, I believe Mariah reads this messageboard occasionally. Interesting how all of sudden she is singing songs that we talked about recently on this board. Myself and others expressed our love for MB not too long ago. If that's the case, Mariah please sing Melt Away and Joy Ride.

Re: Madonna's BBMA performance (89,503) (89,512) by Special K from USA
Age 50 or 60 there is I know a difference. It's just called sexism/ageism. I feel if you can wear it well, it doesn't matter your age. Folks need to get life. Give credit where credit is due. At 49, 50, whatever age she is, Mariah is still absolutely gorgeous. If she want to wear a bikini on stage, she can and the same goes for Madonna. Yeah, Madonna looks old and tired to me but if she wanna rock a bikini, go for it. Look at Toni Braxton, she's always half naked onstage during her concerts and she is I believe 51.

Re: Madonna's BBMA performance (89,505) (89,511) by Special K from USA
I am a huge Madonna fan but even I can admit that she looks old, tired and just plain weird. Look at Diana Ross. She is just simply stunning at 75. Image how Madonna is going to look at 75. Then again, that might not be a good idea.

Re: Madonna's BBMA performance (89,504) (89,510) by Special K from USA
You make a very valid point. The stereo typical image of what "grandmother" looks like has changed throughout the years. I don't know any grandmothers in their 20's however I do know a few who are in their early 40's (even late 30's) and please believe me, they are still hot and you would never believe that they have grandkids. These are different times. Now adays "big momma" has to have a life too so "hell no she won't be watching them grandbabies tonight".

Re: BMA vocal analysis (89,453) (89,458) by Special K from USA
I thought those guys were fair and made good points. They did mention nerves. I'm generalizing but they felt when Mariah's nerves kicked in, that is when she would push too hard on the vocals which caused the pitch and lack of control issues. Like they stated it's obvious either Mariah currently has nodules or had them in the past which is contributing to the deterioration of her voice. Personally I thought they were spot on about Mariah humbling herself, accepting her current voice, and working with a vocal coach that will get her voice healthy and in top condition. It was repeated a few times that Mariah's voice is not healthy. It was also pointed out that Mariah can still hit the high notes with ease and what was really interesting is they pointed out that Mariah's lower registry was in top form and they didn't understand why she doesn't make adjustments and incorporate her lower registry more while singing live. Fans don't want to hear it but I actually agreed "to a certain degree" with dude when he said Mariah was lazy and perhaps riding on her name, but then he seemed to change his tune reiniterating that he knows she works hard, etc. They also discussed why the pitch dropped during WBT because she was out of breath and also pointing out why Mariah can't hold a consistent clear flow singing ABMB. Bottom line, Mariah has got to set her priorities straight taking the necessary steps to get her voice healthy again and adjusting to the changes in her voice. She can do it, but it's going to take dedication, hard work, and humility.

Wow (89,433) by Special K from USA
Wow, that is really all I have to say is wow. Yes, the vocals were pitchy and overall just ok but that performance as a whole and wow that speech, whoa that speech was iconic. You can tell by the smiles on everyone's face in the audience that they really love them some Mariah Carey.
