Mariah Carey causes hopeful to break down in tears
As the American Idol auditions continued last night, viewers watched on as a hopeful broke down in tears over Mariah Carey. However, it wasn't because the "We Belong Together" hit maker, who has shown her feisty side on the show recently, was mean to the hopeful, it was because he was so excited to meet the star.
With the auditions having moved on to Texas and California, the judges were in for a treat as a batch of talented hopefuls prepared to audition in front of Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, Randy Jackson and Marah. However, it was talented hopeful Adam Sanders who appeared more excited to meet Mariah than actually be on the show! As he prepared to meet the "Always Be My Baby" hitmaker, the hopeful said: "I'm not OK, I'm so excited, I get to finally meet Mariah, hopefully." Choking back the tears, he added: "I want to bring back the soul thing like Mariah has."
However, the tables soon turned as the judges congratulated Adam on his execution of Etta James' "I'd Rather Go Blind". Having given him a standing ovation and left Nicki speechless, Randy commented: "You just shot the whole thing. You shocked all of us dog." Giving Adam no doubt that he had impressed her, Mariah put him through to the next round with: "Obviously yes."
However, Adam wasn't the only one to impress the judges as talented singer Savannah Votion's rendition of "At Last" by Nina Simone had Mariah saying: "I thought you were very strong, a big voice talent babe", and Nicki - for once agreeing with her fellow judge - adding: "Very organic, not forced at all, it's what you were born for."
