After three Mariah shows at Caesars I'm sold
I went to the Colosseum to see the Mariah Carey show for the third time on the final night of the first series of her residency. This lovely lady with the magnificent voice now seems completely at home on that huge stage. She is more relaxed and frequently chats with the audience that is full of her fans from everywhere - as far away as Syria. They stand up and cheer for every song.
Mariah sings the 18 No. 1 hits of her career and that voice is there right up to the end. She has also deservedly joined the ranks of super-divas, namely Bette, Cher, Celine, Diana, Aretha and a very few others. I came away with a new respect for her.
Also in the audience was my good friend Marsha Ratner and her entourage. Marsha's son, movie mogul Brett Ratner, was here to direct Mariah's new video. Mariah threw a big party for her friends and staff at her new Las Vegas home that lasted five hours. That's a party!
Marsha, her husband Rene, and their two children are moving from Beverly Hills back to their palatial beachfront home in Miami where she is the "socialite's socialite". We still will be seeing her occasionally working on several projects she started here in Vegas.
The Colosseum will be back in full swing soon as Celine returns in August. We will then have Celine, Mariah, Reba/Brooks and Dunn, Elton John and Rod Stewart in rotation. Celine will be bringing us a new show with some new music, a new musical conductor, and some new musicians. She is trying to expand her audience to attract more young people. (Gaming Today)
