Carey's sweet moments rock Durban

Grammy-Award winning musician Mariah Carey celebrated her twins' fifth birthday during her performance at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Friday night. It was a sweet moment when her children, Monroe and Moroccan, were brought on stage and Carey dedicated her hit song Always Be My Baby to them. It is the first time she has brought her children on stage with her.

Carey is in the country for her Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour. She was carried on to the stage sitting on a white couch during her opening number. The concert, attended by 19,000 fans, was about love, hope and happiness. She dedicated some of the songs to her children and to late singers Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, with photos of them displayed in the background.

Fans still wanted her to perform more songs when she ended her 90-minute performance. Meanwhile 18 fans got to meet and greet the diva for a price tag of R7,100. The ticket allowed them a few seconds with Carey backstage and a photo shoot.

Nieshie Basanth, 35, from Phoenix, who won pricey tickets from East Coast Radio, said she was excited to have met Carey, although she would have liked to have spent more time with her. "After the show, my sister and I were ushered backstage and we waited for two hours. We were told that we were not allowed to hug her, ask questions or ask for an autograph."

"We signed an indemnity form for our photos to be used in her documentary. We went inside her dressing room and there she was, wearing a red gown, looking absolutely stunning," said Basanth.

She greeted us and we had two pictures taken, which will be posted on their website. We were not allowed to use our cellphones. It took like 30 seconds. Waiting for her was exhausting, but, worse, we weren't allowed to even touch her. I am happy, though, meeting her is a moment that I will always treasure."
