The Isle of Capri has clearly worked its magic on James Packer and his fiancee Mariah Carey - though the songbird's exuberant European fans look to be wearing thin on the Aussie billionaire. After partying in the south of France last week, Australia's richest bachelor and his party vessel the Arctic P were today anchored off Italy's sun-soaked Isle of Capri.
While the landmarks on the Isle - the Blue Grotto, the Villa San Michele, local ruins - may hold appeal to other travellers, it was dance club VV Club Capri that drew the largely nocturnal couple Packer and his amore, Mimi, on Monday night.
As a high-spirited Carey danced, mimed and vamped for fans - many of whom had their cameras out recording the moment - Packer, with lowball glass firmly in hand, looked decidedly nonplussed as one swarthy opportunist cut in - putting Packer's unsexy finger dancing (point left, point middle, point right, repeat) to shame.
To the strains of Alicia Keys' New York, the energetic middle-aged chap in open white shirt deftly outmanoeuvred the 48-year-old billionaire by slipping his hands briefly on the sunglass-clad diva's slim-again hips and dipping her expertly to the floor - possibly stealing a sly kiss on the recovery.
The nimble dance move left Packer looking unimpressed - his jutting chin and askance double take leaving little doubt as to his thoughts and prompting reassurance from Carey, who placed both hands on the RatPac bigwig's chest.
Reassured, Packer, once again in the favourite Breton-striped sweater he has worn for the past two weeks, turned his attention back to Carey who in plunging gown proved the main drawcard of the night with fans clamouring to video her posing and tussling her hair while draped over her pal, Shawn "Crafty" McDonald. The long holiday is set to continue for another week.
While some have speculated Carey has been saving herself for the couple's wedding, photos of Packer fondling Carey and video posted by the attention-loving diva which shows her parading a new gold bikini - accessorised with an expensive gold necklace - on-board the Arctic P suggest otherwise.
