Mariah Carey said bon voyage to her engagement because her fiancé, James Packer, wasn't "present" enough, an insider tells Us Weekly. "James has not been present for her so she unfortunately couldn't make it work and had to leave him," an insider close to the singer tells Us. A rep for Packer tells Us: "This is simply untrue."
As previously reported, the pair called things off after getting in a fight while on vacation last month. "Mariah and James had a fight in Greece, and have not seen each other since," Carey's rep told Entertainment Tonight on Thursday, October 28. "The fight was not because of any cheating allegations or excessive spending by Mariah. James is one of the most successful businessmen in the world. They are trying to work it out. Right now, they're not sure if they will stay together. They are discussing it, and plan to release an official statement together about their future."
The rep statement came after TMZ published a report that Carey and Packer split after the songstress and billionaire businessman got into a fight while vacationing on a yacht. According to the site, Packer allegedly "did something really bad" involving Carey's assistant which promoted Carey to immediately return home to Los Angeles.
Packer popped the question back in January with a massive 35-carat diamond ring. The duo had been busy as of late filming Carey's upcoming reality show with E!, Mariah's World.
