She is one of the greatest selling artists of all time. So it comes as little surprise Mariah Carey's daughter has an affinity for music, as she proved via Instagram on Friday. The proud momma shared pictures of seven-year-old Monroe tackling both the violin and the cello. "Mommy-daughter quality time," the diva captioned the sweet set of snaps.
In one, the youngster is seen getting pointers from her private instructor as she listens intently, violin perched under her chin. In another, she is dwarfed by a cello but looks to be handling it perfectly nonetheless, as her mom smiles beside her. Monroe looked cute in denim shorts with a black T-shirt that read "love".

Her mother of course was dressed in what appeared to be a resplendent white ball gown. Mariah herself tried out the violin too, in a photo she caption simply: "String sessions."
There was no sign of Monroe's twin brother Moroccan; his last musical interaction with his mom wasn't quite as classical as his sister's. When Mariah brought them both onstage during her comeback performance to kick off her Las Vegas residency earlier this month, he son proceeded to pull a plastic bag over his head.
Mariah shares both children with ex-husband Nick Cannon, to whom she was married from 2008 to 2016.
