Room mix-up for Mariah
Four fans flew 3,500 miles expecting to stay with their pop idol Mariah Carey - then found they had misunderstood her on a television interview. The Spanish girls, who speak only a little English, heard the singer tell MTV that she put aside a room of her New York home "for fans". But Mariah, 31, was referring to fan mail. The girls thought the room was for admiring visitors.
Stunned Mariah posed for pictures, then paid to put them up in the city's posh TriBeCa hotel. Her aide Cindy Berger said: "The kids just about managed to explain that they saw the guest room on MTV and came to stay. They follow her everywhere.
