Further heartache for Carey
Troubled song bird Mariah Carey is finding it very difficult to get over the death of her father. Retired aeronautical engineer Alfred Carey died of cancer at the age of 72 on 4 July (02), and the Vision Of Love songstress is said to be devastated. She has reportedly been telling close friends she has lost "the only man I know I can really trust". Mariah rushed to her father's bed side when he was hospitalised three weeks before he died. A family friend says, "Alfred promised Mariah that he would be her guardian angel, always looking over her and making sure no harm ever came to her." Alfred was there for Carey during her much publicised breakdown last year (01) following the collapse of her relationship with Latin heart-throb Luis Miguel.
A source in American magazine The National Enquirer says, "Alfred told her she was surrounded by 'yes people', who said what they thought she wanted to hear, not what was best for her." Another source concludes, "Mariah is convinced her father will be her guardian angel.
