Maurice Joshua and Boris Dlugosh

Maurice Joshua and Boris Dlugosh are two of the remixers who have worked their magic on Mariah's new single, "Through The Rain". Here is some background information on both of them.

Maurice Joshua

In the years since he first burst upon the club scene in 1989 with the now classic anthem "This Is Acid", Maurice Joshua has earned a high degree of respect from his contemporaries. In fact, in the grand scheme of house music, he is revered as a legend as well as one of the architects of the sound that now dominates dance floors all over the world.

Many will recall Joshua's prominent role as one of the triumphant trio of Chicago's famed I.D. Productions, which also included Steve "Silk" Hurley and Eric "E-Smoove" Miller. During this time, his hit-making flavor enabled him to go solo. Joshua has since reached greater career heights as the proprietor of Vibe Music, for which he created several timeless jams including the No. 1 Billboard hit "For the Love of You", by Meechie.

Along the way, Joshua has also expanded his creative palette by branching out into pop and R&B songwriting, successfully placing tunes on albums by such mainstream acts as Public Ann! ouncement. His remixing career has also taken a healthy new turn, and he has become a darling of the R&B/hip-hop circuit, having added his magic touch to smash hits by Destiny's Child, Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans, Monifah, Tatyana Ali, and Backstreet Boys. His profile has reached such impressive heights in this area of the music world that Joshua has become the remixer of choice among artists normally apprehensive about letting their material be touched.

He deejays every weekend at the Spy Bar in Chicago in addition to guest spots overseas in the UK, Italy, and Greece. With such credentials, one can only imagine where Joshua will go next. Regardless, the results will certainly be golden.

Boris Dlugosch

Boris Dlugosch is one of Germany’s most prominent djs - as well as a leading promoter of black house music throughout Europe. In 1968 BORIS was born in Hamburg, became a drummer when he was 8 and stopped when his mother finally threw his sticks away. In 1986 he started dj-ing at "The Front" - the first and leading black & beat house club.

In 1989 he added hiphop and r&b too in his sets. Totally untouched by the emergent techno-wave, he spent the next 11 years spinning black grooves and hot NYC house beats - to make the club the no. 1 house venue in Germany. During this period Boris Dlugosch was the first in Germany to organise appearances of such US djs as Frankie Knuckles, Masters At Work, Roger S., David Morales, DJ Pierre, DJ Disciple, Deep Dish etc. etc.

Over the past six years artists like Barbara Tucker, India, Loni Clark, Michael Procter and Michael Watford etc. have been brought over to sing in his clubs and have consequently left an indelible mark on the club and music scene in Germany. Without a doubt over the past decade BORIS DLUGOSCH has been - and still is - the premier of black house music in Germany.

Having created and established his own playing style and technique, he soon became the number one house dj in Germany and was soon being flown to guest all over the world including "The Sound Factory Bar" and "Vinyl" in N.Y.C., "Le Palace" in Paris, "E-Werk" in Berlin, "The Ministry of Sound", London, "Warsaw" and "Liquid", Miami, "Pasha" in Ibiza, "Plastic" in Milan, "Echoes" in Italy and many, many more. Since 1994 he has his own Staurday Night-Show on N-Joy Radio in Germany.

Further aspirations and the joy of music inspired him to produce sounds himself. After a few underground tracks, many remix projects and a spell working alongside New York producer Lem Springsteen, he was ready to create a unique sound which took many of his American contemporaries by storm. It was through the friendship and professional relationship of Boris with the remixer and producer Mousse T. that the "Peppermint Jam" label became known all over the world for their first class dance releases.
