Shania praises Mariah
American pop sensation Shania Twain has sung Mariah Carey's praises - shunning
suggestions that the super star diva is lacking in intelligence. In recent media
reports, many have commented that Carey has the mind of a "dumb blonde" and
therefore cannot make wise, intellectual decisions regarding her life. Pete
Olson of CelebBuzz states, "Mariah Carey has made repetitious bad choices from
her career, to her love life, to her taste in clothing, or lack of. She is a
33 year-old woman but acts like a teenager. It's time she grew up and acted
more mature and intelligent."
David Montgomery of Entertainment News says, "She needs to be smart about how
she presents herself these days because all she has done over the past few
years is given everyone the wrong impression of herself. She comes off as an
easy target for most men by her flirtatious ways. She doesn't play the game
very smart. As far as her career goes, she needs to return to the root of her
music and do what has always worked for her - power ballads and up-tempo tracks
with the extra Mariah feel which she seemed to have lost. Her ballads these
days lack the strength in her voice. Some wonder if she will ever regain her
throne and title of 'best female vocalist if all time', or has Mariah Carey
reached the end of her long reign."
Friend and fellow pop singer, Shania Twain has jumped to Carey's defense by
commenting that the diva hasn't received enough credit. The singer insists
that the songbird is indeed intelligent. She says, "Mariah is very grounded,
a smart and level-headed person. I don't understand why people criticize
her intelligence when she can do something as miraculous as recover from a
physical and exhaustion breakdown, a record label buy-out, a film flop, and
a soundtrack whose sales has proven to have received little to no recognition
and absolutely no promotion. She can't be that simple if she can make a come
back the way she did. She hasn't been given enough credit in my opinion."
She continues, "She has to be some sort of a genius actually just to have
focused on becoming a stronger person and not letting people like the media
destroy her completely. There are some people out there that can't handle
the pressure of being a celebrity and the criticism and knowing that besides
success there is always failure that you have to lean to recover from, and
Mariah has proven to be the type of person who doesn't let anyone or anything
break her down. She knows how to keep her life on track and if that isn't
intelligence then I don't know what is."
