Mariah peformance on Luther Vandross DVD
From Luther With Love: The Videos (Sony/Legacy) serves as a DVD greatest hits package. Besides almost all his most popular videos, there's an extensive biography, discography, photo gallery and various interactive menus, plus three extra video segments. The best of these is a great live performance of "A House Is Not A Home" done at the NAACP image awards.
Aside from the weight fluctuations, what's most memorable about this disc is hearing and watching Vandross, arguably the urban era's greatest ballad stylist. The duet with Gregory Hines on "There's Nothing Better With Love" is a keen reminder of Hines' performing charm, while Mariah Carey reined in her usual excesses and made a very effective duet partner on "Endless Love".
