Mariah Carey's Emotions certified 5x platinum
Mariah Carey's Emotions album has been recertified to 5x platinum having shipped an excess of 5,000,000 units in the US alone. Emotions was last certified September 27, 1994. Mariah's domestic albums shipment tally now stands at 58,000,000 units.
Mariah is the only artist to clear 5,000,000 units in the US with at least 7 albums: Mariah Carey (9,000,000), Music Box (10,000,000), Merry Christmas (5,000,000), Daydream (10,000,000), Butterfly (5,000,000), #1's (5,000,000) and most recently Emotions.
Mariah is now the 16th best selling albums artist in the US, and the 3rd best selling female albums artist behind Madonna (60 million) and Barbra Streisand (71.5 million). Emotions was recertified last January 30, 2003 and was followed by the gold and platinum certification of Mariah Greatest Hits Collection the next day. Mariah's certification total is now at 105 gold and platinum records. (RIAA)
