O Holy Night: UK's fave carol

O Holy Night has been voted the UK's favourite Christmas carol. It topped a poll of nearly 100,000 listeners compiled by radio station Classic FM. In The Bleak Midwinter came second, followed by Silent Night and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. O Holy Night - recently sung by opera group G4 on The X Factor - was voted into first place for the second year running. Chart stars Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and LeAnn Rimes have all recorded the Christmas favourite in the past few years.

Classic FM asked more than 93,000 listeners to name their best-loved carol. Presenter Jane Jones will count down the top 30 on Christmas Day. "Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without carols, and O Holy Night sums up the true meaning of the season," she said. Other carols to make the top 10 included O Come All Ye Faithful, O Little Town of Bethlehem and a more modern version of In The Bleak Midwinter.
