Mariah changes Live 8 set for kids choir

Mariah Carey overhauled her Live 8 set in London yesterday after hearing the Children's Choir of Africa on Friday night. The pop star's singing teacher Maryanne was working with the choir as Carey was putting the finishing touches to her performance plans, and she urged the diva to include the youngsters in her set.

Carey tells MTV News, "I changed my set list because of the Children's Choir of Africa because once I heard their voices I had to have them. I was like, 'Oh, I have to do Hero with them.' " The choir also joined her on the song "Make It Happen". Sitting in was "American Idol" judge and longtime pal Randy Jackson on bass.

The BBC was not so kind about Mariah's performance: "She may have thought she was bringing some glamour to the show with her micro-dress and personal water carrier, but it just came across as ego. As such, she got short shrift from the crowd."
