Heading towards Broadway
Mariah Carey has announced intentions to create, produce and star in a new Broadway musical. Songs will be drawn from her back catalouge, including 1994's Christmas album, and new compositions will be specially written. The singer is quoted by MTV: "I don't want to mention anything definitive until things are signed, but there's a very big company that just signed on to develop the project with me."
But, theatre fans, whatever stage version of the project eventually emerges will probably be preceded by a movie. Did the girl learn nothing from Glitter? "It's probably going to be a movie first," says the 36-year-old. "I don't want to say a television movie, because it's not like a cheesy network movie, but then it's going to be made for the Broadway production." Cheese. Mmmmmmmm... (Drowned In Sound)
