Brett Ratner yearns to make Guitar Hero movie

Brett Ratner
It wasn't that long ago when Brett Ratner revealed he would really like to make movies based on video games. Ratner's justification for this desire is that he believes the video game industry is creating far more exciting products than Hollywood these days.

Now, Ratner has commented on exactly what game he'd like to bring into movie theaters: Guitar Hero. That's right, Guitar Hero. According to MTV Multiplayer, this is Ratner's idea for the film: "It could be about a kid from a small town who dreams of being a rock star and he wins the Guitar Hero competition. One of these dreams-come-true kind of concepts."

Ratner's love of Guitar Hero is well-documented: not only did he direct ads for the game featured on the season finale of American Idol, he also had the game appear in recent music videos for Miley Cyrus and Mariah Carey. Thankfully, Activision doesn't seem to believe that their hit game would make for a hit film, as Ratner admitted that he's been having trouble convincing the publisher to give him the go-ahead.

Meanwhile, Ratner is rumored to be helming the eventual God of War movie. So long as the man promises to not have Kratos bust into a wicked Dragonforce solo, I promise to not bash the flick (too much) before I see it.
