Carey on

A song that could become Mariah Carey's likewise 19th Hot 100 No. 1, bringing her within one of tying the Beatles' all-time mark, makes its first appearance on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. "Obsessed", Carey's Eminem-skewering lead single from "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel", due August 25, debuts at No. 52, garnering an audience of 4.3 million among 62 of the chart's 145 reporting stations.

The track, co-written and produced by Carey with Tricky Stewart and The-Dream, also played to an audience of 5.6 million at mainstream top 40 and rhythmic radio combined (102 stations) in the charts' tracking week. "Obsessed" marks Carey's highest entrance on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs since "Heartbreaker" launched at No. 33 on Sept. 4, 1999.
