His mother is Mariah's sister, Alison, who still struggles with the trauma of horrific sexual and psychological abuse inflicted on her by her mother when she was a child. In 2015 Alison was attacked in her own home, leaving her with a traumatic brain injury. In 2021, doctors gave her a 50 percent chance of surviving emergency surgery for a perforated stomach ulcer. She has no teeth after her dentures were broken in a fall; Medicaid won't replace them until 2026. But none of that bothers her eldest son, who he has dismissed as his "mother in name only". I met Alison in 2015 while she was in a hospital recovering from surgery to stop bleeding in her brain resulting from the attack. I run a blog about this fractured family.
