About Loris from Italy:

Mariah Carey - Faded (Male Version) (48,033) by Loris from Italy
Perfect cover to start the week with bliss. Of course they lowered the pitch, but it's very nice.

Beyonce can only dream (46,324) by Loris from Italy
I hope Mariah doesn't think 2014 is the worst year of her life and career because, well, she has released a really great record. MIAMTEC includes some of the most perfect songs of her entire catalogue. Tracks like Faded, Camouflage and Cry are on the same level of Melt Away, Underneath The Stars, Breakdown, The Roof and Slipping Away. #Beautiful and YDKWTD are as good as Fantasy and Dreamlover. OMT is possibly her most superb cover ever. She should be proud of having created such outstanding music, the best in the r&b genre, we should be grateful. The fact that they decided to release You're Mine is as unbearable as the video for the song and the album title. "The Art Of Letting Go" would have been a finer title, considering all the longing she conveys on this record. And the cover art for the deluxe edition would have been more appropriate. She needs to reconsider her priorities and marketing strategies now. It would be amazing to see her performing the most obscure gems on the upcoming tour. The general public and the media can't wait to see her drowning. If before MIAMTEC I wasn't sure about Mariah being still able to achieve greater things sonically, now I don't have doubts anymore. This album will be discovered but that will require some time. Listening to the last breathtaking seconds of OMT, I can't help but feeling a bit sad for what she's going through lately. I suggest we remain silent about the divorce matter, we need to respect her privacy.

A frantic uproar (45,709) by Loris from Italy
The new Katy Perry' single is a frantic uproar, a really deplorable track. The reference to Mariah is not necessarily negative looking at the lyrics, but the way Mariah is portrayed, with the "touching her body" thing, is a bit unflattering, and anyway it's disrespectful to even mention Mariah's name on that dreadful thing that is This Is How We Do. It doesn't look like a nice homage to me.

She's rarely sounded as comfortable (44,872) by Loris from Italy
Here's the Pitchfork review. They gave the album a score of 7.7, which is quite outstanding since Mariah is always snubbed in the indie music magazines. The review is the most reasonable I've read since the release. Clearly MIAM is a critical success and that is because the album includes magnificent songs. Even Money, which I wasn't very fond of at first, is a grower; when she says "and I dream the impossible dream", it's such a priceless tender moment. The album is staggering, because her other records are a bit less organic, but it's with stupendous tracks like Faded, Supernatural, Camouflage and Cry that her music has come to a full circle. I'm very satisfied now and I'm happy that she managed to release the perfect record after some lost opportunities like TEOM and Butterfly, which incorporate some of her classics, signature songs, uplifting vocals and ridiculously mesmerizing lyrics but are sporadically weak. The album flaws without too many frills, as opposed to albums like Charmbracelet. Ultimately, Faded has the potential to become my new favourite Mariah Carey song, after Slipping Away recently captivated me endlessly. I believe the emotions Mariah conveys through her music are real, and that her soulful, enticing, melismatic style is not for everybody. It's so uncool to listen to Mariah that I love it.

20 milion fans on Facebook and only 95.000 copies sold of MIAM? She has the worst fans. Especially because the album is an outstanding, flawless masterpiece in the realm of r&b genre.

Because of music like this I know time still exists (44,305) by Loris from Italy
Timbaland and Anita Baker have praised the album on twitter. Clearly this is her strongest effort ever after Butterfly (and maybe Daydream). I'm happy that she has finally managed to create this eternal masterpiece. Cry, OMT, Supernatural, Camouflage, Faded are some of the most beautiful gems of her entire catalogue. She has given me the best music I could ever ask for, so as a fan I feel very fortunate. When she sings "there ain't no joy", "I'm so cold inside, maybe just one more try" at the end of OMT, I am without defenses. Supernatural is surprisingly enchanting and bittersweet at the same time, because I wish I could have a child one day, but I am scared my love for men will be an insurmountable hindrance. Mariah has written this song for me.

Thirsty for a dream, filled with discontent (43,593) by Loris from Italy
In the realm of her discography Thirsty is not an experimental track, but it definitely encapsulates many trademarks of a Mariah composition post-Butterfly, like Crybaby, Clown, Miss You, Shake It Off, Migrate, Obsessed. Lyrically, it is a reminescence of Clown and Obsessed and showcases the usual contents and language of a typical Mariah song, while sonically it reminds especially of Migrate, although the formula has been upgraded towards a more sensual vibe. The catatonic line "Oh, you’re thirsty" is the quintessential Mariah hotness. Plus, she is very funny when mentioning instagram (in 2008 it was a YouTube moment XD). The vocals are divinely roboticizated, but there's no mistaking Mariah Carey. In other words, with the exception of Triumphant (huge misstep), Mariah has released quite good r&b songs, with "#Beautiful" being her blissfully outstanding modern classic, "You're mine" and incredible nostalgic moment and "Thristy" simply her potential new number 1.

Moments (43,444) by Loris from Italy

Her catalogue has aged very very well. Her first album is still very enticing, and I couldn't say the same about the first Madonna record. I don't even mention Dangerously In Love by Beyonce. Let's take some moments to celebrate Mariah lyrics and sublime classics like Breakdown, Underneath The Stars, Vision Of Love, Emotions, Butterfly, Slipping Away, My Saving Grace, Open Arms, Fourth Of July, Music Box, Anytime You Need A Friend, Bliss. Bye.

My favourite 20 Mariah classics right now (42,661) by Loris from Italy
Yes, I'm obsessed with charts. Well I guess I'm trying to be nonchalant about it, and I'm going to extremes to prove I'm fine without you. But in reality I'm slowly losing my my mind underneath the guise of a smile gradually I'm dying inside.
1. Breakdown
2. I don't wanna cry
3. The roof
4. Vision of love
5. Butterfly
6. Bliss
7. Underneath the stars
8. Slipping Away
9. Anytime you need a friend
10. Open arms
11. Emotions
12. Fantasy
13. We belong together
14. Babydoll
15. If it's over
16. Music box
17. Without you
18. Miss you most
19. Long ago
20. #Beautiful
Random facts and impressions:
1. Breakdown and The Roof are her lyrical masterpieces.
2. I don't Wanna Cry is very understimated among the lambs and that is really bad. And her live version at Tokyo Dome is even more perfect.
3. Mariah ackowledging (or even mentioning) publicily the value of Slipping Away one day would be a dream come true.
4. I've always considered Open Arms to be just too schmaltzy for me, but recently Mariah won me over. The second verse, in particular, is one of the most affecting pieces of music I've ever listened to.

#Beautiful still at #2 in Gambia (42,637) by Loris from Italy
This is the current ranking of the song on the worldwide iTunes charts. Does anybody know why Beautiful is so popular in Gambia a year later? Everytime I listen to this track I'm always "hectic inside". Clearly it's her best pop tune in years. Alas, the video doesn't bring anything interesting to the table, but the sonic sharpness of the song remains unmatched in her most recent catalogue. High hopes for the new album. I want it to reflect who she really is as a musician and person, but still I'd see her indulging too much in mundanity (E=MC2) and hip hop musicality (Charmbracelet) as a major misstep. Nevertheless, I suppose she has incorporated some elements of Daydream, Butterfly and TEOM in the new music, since Underneath The Stars, Butterfly and We Belong Together are among her most beloved songs. #Beautiful appears on the Pitchfork top 100 songs of 2013, which says a lot about how smart was the idea of joining forces with a new artist and how enchanting is the song.

Should have been the singles (42,227) by Loris from Italy
Mariah Carey: Vision Of Love, Someday, Vanishing, I Don't Wanna Cry, All In Your Mind (the whistle register)
Emotions: You're So Cold (would have been an amazing lead single), Can't Let Go, Emotions, If It's Over (very uplifting), Make It Happen
Music Box: Dreamlover, Anytime You Need A Friend (they had to release it as the second single not the fourth, since its gospel influence is perfectly coherent with her previous albums), Hero, Without You, Music Box
Merry Christmas: AIWFCIY, Miss You Most, Holy Night
Daydream: Fantasy, One Sweet Day, Underneath The Stars, Always Be My Baby, Long Ago (would have highlight better the modern r&b components in the album)
Butterfly: Honey, My all, The Roof (her best video of all time, lyrics are also superbe), Babydoll (utterly sensual), Breakdown, Butterfly
Rainbow: Heartbreaker, How Much, Thank God I Found You, Crybaby, X-Girlfriend, Bliss (very Minnie Riperton-inspired astounding classic)
Charmbracelet: Clown, Bringin' On The Heartbreak, Through The Rain, Yours
The Emancipation Of Mimi: It's Like That, We Belong Together, Shake It Off, Circles (a must), Don't Forget About Us
E=MC2: Migrate, Touch My Body, Cruise Control, For The Record
Memoirs: H.A.T.E.U. (should have had a wintry clip), Obsessed
New album: #Beautiful, The Art Of Letting Go (with revised lyrics)
Above all, Slipping Away should have been included in the album and released as a single. Unforgivable mistake.

Ariana Grande? Who? (42,126) by Loris from Italy
Mariah may no longer be the strongest female singer in the game, but certainly she was in the 90's. About those unlikely comparisons: the strength of Whitney's voice is untouchable, but Mariah's formula of excellent phrasing plus whistle register makes her simply the bes. Let's not forget the utter superiority of her amazing catalogue, Mariah has (at least) 50 amazing songs, and I don't think many musicians have achieved that. Most of her tracks are heavenly produced and incorporate splendid lyrics, and that is due to her overall music vision as well. Christina Aguilera and Beyoncè? Yes, they are the two most talented pop singers of 00's, but speaking of great relevant pop singles, I would only mention Ain't No Other Man and Crazy in Love. Mariah has (at least) Emotions, Dreamlover, Fantasy, #Beautiful. We may not want to compare Mariah's fifth studio album with Beyoncè last album. Well, there's no comparison. Why would one prefer the trite Drunk In Love over the enchanting Long Ago?Through her first 5 albums, Mariah has achieved way more than Beyoncè in terms of vocal performances and recordings, despite the latter is a fabolous performer. Ariana leaves me feeling indifferent. Let's come back to what matters the most, which is Mariah upcoming record and her legacy. By the way, this version of I Don't Wanna Cry is stunningly rearranged and sung. I'm not a fan of her denying I Don't Wanna Cry as a precious gem and that's all.

Did I Do That? (40,952) by Loris from Italy

My last discovery in the realm of Mariah's catalogue is Did I Do That which, actually, incorporates quite brilliant and hilarious lyrics. Some of my favorite are these ones: "'I found a love I can call my own and I owe it in part to you. You had my trust and intimacy but you threw it away. Conversations painfully weak, you were much better off when you didn't speak. But boy to tell you the truth, it was my illusion of you. And though your attention span's not that long, try to do the best you can do." Ahahah. She definitely won with this. I'm not very fond of the Rainbow album (especially of the overall structure and the heavy hip hop collaborations), but with time I started to appreciate it a bit more. Bliss is the ultimate gem on this, perfect follow-up to Long Ago and Babydoll.

Some personal point about Mariah's career (40,426) by Loris from Italy
Vision Of Love is her best song and will be unmatched forever. I Don't Wanna Cry is a huge classic and Mariah needs to understand that. Slipping Away should have been on Daydream and released as an official single right after Always Be My Baby (When I Saw You should have followed as the final single). Daydream is her landmark album, even though Open Arms shoud have been replaced by Slipping Away. Surely since the urban turning point in 1997, Mariah has delivered us some incredible gems, but her frivolous image plus her inability to move towards the contemporary music realm has damaged her career in the long term. Despite all this, #Beautiful is the best r&b song of 2013 (though Body Party by Ciara, Mirrors by Justin and Belong To The World by The Weekend are quite spectacular too), and it deserved to reach the global success of Blurred Lines. It's just timeless. In the 90's it would have been number 1 on Billboard charts. The Art Of Letting Go incorporates stellar vocals (production is also great), but cheesy lyrics. Triumphant and TAOLG shouldn't make the final cut. At this point what I expect from her is to deliver a brilliant record with a vibe halfway between Daydream/Butterfly and Motown, and #Beautiful just serves this purpose. I am not interested in hip hop collaboration. I would only admit Steve Wonder and Prince. Also, Mariah should be less conservative in the videos for the next era. Less diva and more musical genius.
