About J from USA:

Not that it matters (96,169) by J from USA
But anybody find it weird how Mariah no longer speaks on her dad's Venezuelan side? It was always known he was Afro-Venezuelan and as of lately it's just he was African American, which he was, don't get me wrong. But back in the 90s she would say he had Venezuelan ancestry, and if memory serves me right she was on a show in Venezuela looking for some long lost family of her father's.

Re: MIAMTEC and Caution (88,811) (88,846) by J from USA
Well if I had to choose my list would be:

1. Emotions
2. Daydream
3. Musicbox
4. TEOM
5. Memoirs
6. Mariah Carey
7. MTV Unplugged
8. MIAMTEC - Regardless of how anybody feels about this album, it was a great body of work.
9. Butterfly- It's an amazing album, but I will always prefer pop Mariah to R&B Mariah.
10. Rainbow
11. CB
12. Caution
13. E=MC2 - I loved it back in the 2008 but 10 years later as I grew up I realized how bad this album was and how much of a weak follow up it was to TEOM.

Why can't people just... (88,436) by J from USA
Accept the fact that Mariah's time has come and go just like all her peers? This is not me saying she should quit making music because I enjoyed Caution, but at this point the majority of you are stuck in the past. Times have changed. Mariah is no longer considered a "cool artist" anymore. Look at the Hot 100, the songs in the top 10 have been there for months. Mariah isn't 25 anymore. She's almost 50 years old. It happens to the best of them. The reason why some other older artist are able to at least go gold is because their fan base and music has remained consistent all over the years. Mariah for the past decade has been trying to cater to a crowd that isn't interested in her musically whatsoever (I'm 26, I know exactly what people these days are listening to and considered "poppin"). While she does have fans that are young, she has completely abandoned a lot of her other fans altogether.

Re: Michael Jackson (88,426) (88,435) by J from USA
The thing that's making me go WTF the most is the fact that all these MJ allegations are he said she said, hearsay.

I'm gonna need people to stop comparing MJ with R Kelly. There's actual video evidence of R Kelly having sexual relationships with a minor. There's a marriage license of him at 27 married to a 15 year old Aaliyah.

Where is the proof for MJ? This man was investigated for 10 years and the FBI found nothing incriminating against him. I get why people would compare but for me there's a huge difference between hearsay and something that's very one sided to a situation where proof is right in front of our eyes.

Re: The Mariah Experience (86,421) (86,424) by J from USA
It's free to the public. I went and tbh it's nothing serious. A cute little exhibit, pretty small. I wish it would had been bigger and more stuff but for what it is, is worth it, if you're a super fan.

Justice for Glitter? How about justice for 90s MC (86,397) by J from USA
I think the lambs should start a new hashtag calling it #JusticeFor90sMariah. I honestly dislike how she tends to talk or downplay her first 4 albums and even when she he does talk about them, she'll only mention certain songs like we get it, it wasn't the best time for you MC, but legit some of your best songs are in the debut, Emotions, Music Box and Daydream album. Her tour setlist are always the same, she'll sing a random song here and there but then she won't do it again. The only reason she sang [...] is because it was the #1s tour so she had to do them. Look at how dirty she did Someday by putting the live version on the Infinity album, like why? Lol. Not but really guys.

GTFO should had been an official single (84,329) by J from USA
I know I don't post a lot but I do follow the board from time to time. Honestly speaking I felt like she had something with GTFO. The momentum was there, people were liking it, the song itself was going viral. Why not promote it? Not number one material, but even a top 20 spot is amazing for an artist like Mariah with 30 years in the game. I wasn't crazy over the song but the more you listened to it, it was catchy. A better funnier video would had sold the song 100%, but what can you do?
As far as "With You", it's alright. I was listening and waiting for that big climax at the end but it never came. I don't really see the song doing much chart/radio wise but there's still time to turn it around and release a banger.

Hero music video (78,474) by J from USA
A lot of the fans are missing the point. Who is expecting Mariah to dance? I've never had. I want everyone to look at the Hero music video, she didn't move an inch but yet the whole crowd was mesmerized because of that voice, that voice itself had stage presence alone. What I'm trying to get a lot of you to understand is for the past decade Mariahs stage presence went extinct. She has none whatsoever. Like I swear she literally has someone in her ear monitor telling her where to look, where to walk, etc. Half the time she performs she looks like she is in space, mentally checked out. She really needs to look at her earlier performances to at least recapture the magic she once had on stage as well as the command.

Re: Article: Mariah is stiff as a board in Hip Hop Honors performance (78,420) (78,432) by J from USA
And this is the exact sad/ignorant mentality that a lot of you "fans" have that will continuously praise Mariah while she's on stage making a joke of herself. Mariah is not a dancer, nobody is expecting Mariah to bust out a full fledge dance routine. Her stage presence is non existent nowadays. She doesn't move, she looks scared, she doesn't look like the pro I know she is, it's like she has someone directing her every move while onstage. Is annoying at this point. Look at the performances of honey from back in the day, hell from 2005/2006 and tell me you don't see a difference.

Album opinion (43,855) by J from USA
I listened to the album and while it will definitely take a few more listens for me to get more acquainted with it, it didn't pull me in automatically like Memoirs did. The album is way better than E=MC2 in my opinion. I honestly do not think is a commercial album at all. Just like Mariah said, a body of work. Too much features but in all a really good effort.

I rather see Mariah flop with quality music than her following trends (43,534) by J from USA
Sorry but Thirsty was dry. What is this? You all are happy because it reminds you of Migrate? This isn't 2008 anymore. I'm not one of those fans that is never satisfied but this is not the music I want from Mariah. This song does not sound any different from what is out on radio right now in the R&B field. Mariah doesn't have anything to prove anymore but in her mind she does. She wants to remain relevant, she wants to have a hit but at what cost? Where is the Mariah who was relatable in her music? Almost Home, TAOLG flopped but I prefer those songs to anything out on the radio because they have a message, that is quality music right there. I am still supporting this album but judging from the 3 songs that have been released I already know this album will be another attempt at Mariah seeking relevancy on the charts. I don't have an issue either with Mariah being sexy at 44, if you got it flaunt it, but this isn't the type of music a 44 year old woman should be making, talking like she's 20. Leave that crap for Rihanna or Ariana.

My two cents (42,985) by J from USA
Obviously Beyonce wasn't the first to release a surprise album but let's give props where they are due, her album broke records and really in my opinion started a new trend which I believe others will follow in the future. No, Mariah's album release won't be like Beyonce since we already know it is coming but the whole releasing it digitally probably came from Bey's album anyways. Nothing wrong with that.

Wake up (42,787) by J from USA
Sorry but pulling a Beyonce isn't going to work for Mariah at all. Beyonce never set a date, never released music to iTunes and basically nobody had no idea her album was coming, none whatsoever. Honestly like I said before, it is what it is. Mariah will do as she pleases and is really sad how Jermaine has to take the wrath when let's be honest here people, Mariah is behind it 100%. If the album comes out May 6th, I'll buy it, if it doesn't it's ok, I will still buy it regardless. Humble yourself MC, let us know what has been going on for the past 2 years, we as loyal fans have a right to know because at the end of the day we buy your music.

Album release (42,655) by J from USA
Honestly we still got 2 more weeks untill April is over. Let's give Mariah until then to give more information about this album. At this point it's whatever to me TBH. I'll buy the album but I'm not as excited as I was before. I'm pretty sure this is going to be a great record but as far as success goes, I doubt this era will be one. Too many things have overshadowed the release of this album. The pushbacks, the length in between this and Memoirs, the lip-syncing scandals, the failing singles. Hopefully things turn around for the better. Oh and also another sad thing is, if this album sells badly the first week or overall, the lambs will blame Jermaine for it all as if he's the one who should promote Mariah's singles/albums for her. BTW is it me of has Mariah gained weight in the past few months? Not that she looks bad at all, but her face seems bloated in some pics.

(42,106) by J from USA
Oh please, stop it. I support Mariah but I'm not like a lot of you that always have to call anyone who criticizes Mariah a hater. That's one of the reasons why she's in the position she is in right now. A bunch of yes people around her that don't sit her down and let her know the truth, and if they do maybe she's just in denial. I don't like You're Mine but did I buy it? Yes I did. I always do my part. Another thing, stop blaming everyone around MC when it comes the underperformance of her singles. What is her management team supposed to do? Go out and perform the song for her? This era has been so disorganized. She releases a single but doesn't promote it in favor of finishing the album, which has been in the final stages for like 4 months now. Why even bother releasing a single then. You're Mine is rising on radio but let's be real, the song won't survive on airplay alone. Digital downloads play a big part in a songs success nowadays and sadly the song has disappeared on iTunes. We as fans do out part even though we have our different opinions. Blame the general public, who obviously were not interested in the song.

Patti is not Mariah's real godmother, and who doesn't call Patti aunty? Almost every singer from Fantasia to Brandy her either aunt or mama Patti.

MC's and lambs attitude toward female singers (42,059) by J from USA
Stop being immature, all Katy said was Mariah is good for a throwback. Hello. Mariah came out in 1990, alot of her songs are throwbacks. She has praised Mariah many times. I also agree with Marissa. I hate the fact that Mariah has always acted like such a stuck up witch to female singers who look up to her. And some lambs are not any better. What is Mariah's legacy going to be when she is gone? Is not all about sales and #1's. It is about having had a career that influenced a generation of singers and a career that was so great that newer artist attemp to immulate it. Whitney never acted this way towards Brandy, Jennifer Hudson or Christina. the media started called Jennifer Hudson "the new Whitney", but instead of giving Jennifer Hudson the cold shoulder, Whitney embraced her. Patti Labelle is also another one who always acknowledges new female singers because they all name her as an inspiration. It's really sad when even her own fanbase hates singers who are inspired by Mariah, like if that is a bad thing. Even wishing ill towards Ariana's career. Stop being insecure about a talent that is not yours. Thumb me down all you want to. I love when these new singers praise Mariah and emulate her because that right there shows MC's 24 year career has not been in vain.

The lip syncing (41,772) by J from USA
Honestly I am over the excuses certain lambs make for Mariah. I fell in love with MC because of her voice. I wanna see Mariah sing a song fully live, no playback, no dubbing, no editing. I sometimes wonder if Mariah feels pressure to be perfect? I know everyone lip syncs but when it comes to the point where every time you perform people have to question wether is live or not, then there is a problem. People love to throw Celine in the equation but when is time for Celine to sing live, she delivers. Thumb me down all you want but honestly the excuses have to stop. "Oh, she's saving her voice to tour", "she's tired", etc. Stop it. Idc that Mariah lips here and there but dang girl, it's been really hurting your reputation and people aren't turning a blind eye to it anymore.

(41,461) by J from USA
I highly doubt the reason Mariah's singles haven't had commercial success is because she doesn't have her 90's voice. Mariah can still sing and to me hasn't lost that power she had in the 90's. The only difference between now and 1995 is the quality of the music. IDC what anybody says but Mariah will get a hit when she stops trying to recreate We belong Together. It's real evident that she had tried. I Stay In Love (the only reason this got chosen as single was because the lambs all said it was WBT part 2), Bye Bye, HATEU, I Want To Know What Love Is, TAOLG and now You're Mine. It's obvious.

Promo (41,459) by J from USA
I appreciate the radio promo Mariah has been doing but come on guys, it is 2014, people barely listen to the radio anymore. One thing I will say though is that I do agree with the people that say it's too early to call this song a flop. It has only been a week. But let's get to the truth, this song will need major promotion because obviously the anticipation for it wasn't high since it has dropped on iTunes. Can we get some live performances? Ellen? Jimmy Fallon? Something. I pray this album doesn't get pushed back again, it's been 4 long years without a new Mariah album and dammit I'm tired of waiting.

My opinion (41,391) by J from USA
I highly doubt Mariah isn't making music to be on top of the charts, if that was the case this album would had been released months ago, and she wouldn't have gone through 4 singles. Honestly I don't care if I get thumbed down but Mariah already reached her peak as an artist. Nobody wants to accept it but it's the truth. Why is this such a bad thing for some of you? It happens to every artist. Aretha, Whitney, Michael. I hope this album doesn't get pushed back again if this single doesn't take off.

Memoirs (41,328) by J from USA
Screw what anybody says, Memoirs was underrated. That album was solid from start to finish. As I got older I realized E=MC2 was a weak follow up to TEOM, Memoirs was a step in the right direction after E=MC2. Sadly, the promo was horrible as was the single choices after Obsessed and the videos. HATE U anybody? Lol. That song could had been massive. I really wish she could had done the Memoirs era all over again.

Mariah's personality (41,327) by J from USA
Nobody is bashing Mariah at all. But Mariah has never acted this way before. I have seen so many articles on her Breakfast Club interview and everyone keeps writing how she seemed "loopy, drunk, out of it or dazed". Honestly it's not a good look. Plus I'm not sure if anybody noticed but she had her eyes closed for much of the interview, mind you she was wearing sunglasses. Even after she divorced Tommy, and was able to be "herself" she never acted this way. Marah was funny, well spoken, confident and never rambled on or had this holier than thou attitude.
