In my opinion, New York City is overrated, stressful and far too expensive for what you pay. Mariah could get a much nicer (and larger) home in Atlanta for probably a fraction of the cost and it would not cost so much to maintain it. It would make sense to cash out a high-value asset when she has no incessant need for it anymore. It might've just became a very expensive storage unit. Even though Mariah plays into the "I have no concept of money" persona, the reason she is rich as hell today is because she is smart. Trust me, homegirl will be okay. She owns multiple other properties. This seems to be just a portfolio reshuffle. I know that Tribeca apartment holds significant meaning for her and the lambs; it's where the butterfly first landed after fleeing Sing Sing, and she's also spoken about how it's always been her dream to live in a penthouse. But dreams also change as you age. Mariah is nearing 60. She simply doesn't enjoy climbing the 1000th floor. She likes to walk the dogs outside in an easy-access mansion yard.
