Mariah can see herself judging on AI for many years
American Idol judge Mariah Carey feels pretty good about the popular show's new lineup of judges, envisioning a bright future for the singing competition program and a long future with it for herself. Though she's only a few weeks into her Idol gig, Carey is reportedly feeling right at home and can see herself sitting at the dais for the foreseeable future. In a recent interview with show host Ryan Seacrest, Carey expressed her excitement over her new gig and the inspiration she receives from helping hopefuls along on their path to possible fame.
"Yeah, I actually can see myself doing another season," Carey admits. "I love moments like this, because I think they're great. You work through whatever. I'm just learning. I don't consider myself a judge, I consider myself as someone who is trying to give constructive criticism and guidance. I think it's a really, really great opportunity for people out there who don't necessarily have the money to make their own demo or to go to a record company and stuff like that. I have a totally new respect for the whole thing."
The show's reps have also recently put to bed rumors that Carey and fellow judge Nicki Minaj are engaged in a heated diva-feud. "Mariah's a legend and I just want to say that," Minaj told Access Hollywood. "I'm sitting next to a woman who I've looked up to since I can remember enjoying music. My mother and I bonded to Mariah and I told her that, before even American Idol."
When asked about reports of a Carey/Minaj feud, Ryan Seacrest said that the two definitely have conflicting opinions sometimes but that it's not a personal feud at all: "Nicki and Mariah, two very different, strong, powerful successful women on the panel - there are not too many dull moments between the two of them. But at the end of the day, we all hug and laugh and go home and get ready for another day," continuing, "They get along fine but they're strong and candid in their opinion." (Inquisitr)
