Mariah Carey is said to have raised eyebrows with some of her diva demands at this year's Capital FM Summertime Ball. The superstar singer, 56, closed the show at London's Wembley Stadium on Sunday, marking her first UK performance in six years.
The Sweet Fantasy hit-maker is the first to admit she can be high maintenance, and Capital FM presenter Sian Welby revealed that Carey had her dressing room completely customised and renamed "Mimi's World".
Welby told The Sun: "We will do what we're told. When it comes to Mariah, she is the boss. She's changed the whole dressing room to just be called Mimi's World. Doesn't even have Capital branding anymore - it's all her zone."
By contrast, co-host Chris Stark described Will Smith as the "most chilled" of the bunch. He said: "Will Smith, by the way, was just wandering around like it was no big deal. He even went into catering, grabbed some food, and just sat himself down."
Meanwhile, something that surely won't have pleased Carey is that she appeared to be performing to a partially empty stadium, with some fans seen leaving early in footage shared on TikTok.
One clip showed the mum-of-two on stage at Wembley with visible gaps in the crowd and rows of empty seats, alongside the caption: "Mariah Carey playing to an almost empty stadium."
Fans were quick to weigh in, with many defending the singer and blaming the timing. Several pointed out that, being a Sunday night, public transport stops early - and people had to head home.
"The reality is, it's a Sunday, and in the UK, last trains (and everything) stop early Sunday," wrote one commenter. "Any act who's on last after 10pm is going to have a reduced crowd as folks need to catch that last train home - if they didn't drive or don't live nearby."
Carey's diva antics hit headlines once again when she went viral earlier this year thanks to her series of unimpressed facial expressions during a musical tribute at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
She was in the star-studded audience as fellow artists Muni Long and Tori Kelly performed some of her biggest hits. As Long belted out We Belong Together, the camera cut to Carey, who could be seen slowly turning her head away from the stage and throwing a subtle side-eye.
Seated next to her was rumoured boyfriend Anderson .Paak, who - in contrast - seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the performance. Another moment showed Carey smiling brightly, only for the grin to slowly fade as the tribute continued.
