Here at FYI we enjoy getting offbeat press releases. One received from Liquid Communications yesterday meets that criterion. It involves dating app Happn, who partnered with Spotify a year ago. The app allows its users to send music to connect and flirt with a crush through the app's messaging function. This has resulted in some interesting stats, such as the top shared songs in Canada through Spotify when online dating.
The top 3 for both genders featured (in order) Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe", "I Put a Spell on You" by Screamin' Jay Hawkins, and Pharrell Williams' "Happy". Men chose "Treasure" by Bruno Mars as No. 4 and Mariah Carey's "Heartbreaker" at 5, while women placed "Heartbreaker" at 4 and Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" at No. 5. What, no Barry White?
