Mariah will visit Mexico

Singer Mariah Carey will visit Mexico in October or November as part of her promotional tour for her album and movie, both titled "Glitter". The cd is her first with her new record company "Virgin". The exact date hasn't been set, as the singer's schedule has not been confirmed. After signing the most lucrative contract in record history, about 20 million dollars for each album with Virgin Records, Carey will premiere her cd in August. The album is also the soundtrack for the movie, in which for the first time she'll play the starring role.

In her newest work, Luis Miguel's girlfriend was accompanied by a select group of musicians and co-producers, although the majority of the work was written and produced by Mariah Carey herself. The record will include ballads as well as uptempo/dance songs. The first single off of the new album is "Loverboy" which has already received radioplay since the beginning of June. The cut was inspired by "Candy", an 1980's hit for the group Cameo. Carey not only "sampled" the song, but included new material. Larry Blackmon and Thomas Jenkins, from the original "Cameo" worked with the 31-year old singer (Carey) on the pop version of the song, mixed by DJ Clark Kent. Carey also sang a remix produced by David Morales and MJ Cole, with rap by Ludicris and Da Brat. The video for Loverboy was recently filmed in Los Angeles, CA under the direction of famed phorographer David LaChappelle.

Carey has achieved record sales of more than 150 million albums and singles worldwide. She's received 84 gold, platinum and multiplatinum records, and she has surpassed the Beatles as the artist with the most number of weeks in the top spot of the charts in the USA. With her previous album "Rainbow" Carey earned the distinction of having a number one hit in every year during the 1990's. At the Billboard 1999 Awards, the native of Long Island New York received the award for Artist of the Decade, and at last year's World Music Awards in Monaco, she was honored as the "Artist of the Millenium" with most records sold.
