Mariah Carey's rumoured cosmetics line has fans giddy

With a cosmetics line featuring makeup, skincare and fragrances reportedly in the pipeline, we break down Mariah Carey's shining makeup arsenal, and check out her holiday collections with MAC for some clues on the surprises she has yet to offer the beauty community.

Make no mistake, Carey knows what works for her when it comes to makeup. The star's high-maintenance beauty look wouldn't be complete without highlighters for strobing, warm copper bronzing powder, gold-flecked eyeshadow, dramatic faux lashes and a stripped down barely there lip.

At the Vanity Fair party following the 88th Academy Awards in Beverly Hills, California, in February this year, Carey opted for polished perfection. Her bronzed goddess beauty look bore no surprises but it did have the usual polished elements on-trend golden halo eye makeup, movie star liner, OTT lashes, and sunkissed cheekbones, finished with her trademark blinding shimmer and glossy rose gold pout.

Before the contouring and strobing trends took hold, Mariah's earlier millnenial makeup featured a bronze glow and greater emphasis on lips, like the glossy bubblegum pink pout that she sported at the 2009 Film Independent Spirit Awards in Los Angeles. A girly lip shade that seems to have definitively traded places with ultra nude shades in Carey's vanity.

If the star's recent capsule collections for MAC are anything to go by, her bespoke beauty range is likely to include her tried and trusted palette of shimmering champagne and coral tones, plenty of sparkle and glam packaging.

Beauty bloggers and makeup enthusiasts worldwide have snapped up Carey's limited edition light prismatic highlighters, collector item "All I Want" champagne shimmer lippy, and nude lipstick range with their glittery cases and sculptural butterfly-embossed tip. Some of the capsule's must-haves are the focus of New York-based vlogger Nicol Concilio's Mariah Carey-inspired rose gold makeup tutorial.

Other star products to come from the MAC collaboration include the cheekily named Touch My Body all-over body sparkle. Suffice to say Carey, a self-proclaimed beauty school drop-out will need to set up some serious brainstorming sessions to beat the alluring product names she has dreamt up for MAC.

Celebrity and entertainment news website Page Six reported that Carey and her manager Stellz Bulochnikov are planning on opening a brick-and-mortar store in Beverly Hills where they were recently spotted "secretly looking at a number of retail spaces with a plan to unveil it this holiday season or next year by the latest".
