Mariah Carey acts as maid of honour

She might be one of the most famous singers in the world - but Mariah Carey acted as maid of honour at Declan Donnelly's "wedding" to Cat Deeley back in 2001. It was all just a skit for daytime television show, SM:TV Chums and the unearthed snaps were posted by singer Michelle Heaton on Instagram on Thursday. The 39-year-old played a wedding guest at the mock wedding which took place to celebrate Ant and Dec's last ever episode on the show.

Michelle Heaton wrote: "Throw back Thursday to when we were actual wedding guests with the actual Mariah Carey for Dec and Cat's wedding for the last ever SM:TV Chums episode. Bbring it back who can spot me? Lol."

The mock wedding was hosted by "Reverend" Frank Skinner and was attended by Beppe from EastEnders, played by Michael Greco and boyband Blue. Carol Vorderman appears in full wedding attire and says of Skinner: "By the way, he's one of those stripping vicars, so can everyone refrain from saying anything about removing your clothes."

A very youthful looking Dec can be heard saying ahead of the fake nuptials: "It's supposed to be the best day of my life and I know in typical Chums style, something is going to go wrong. I am going to have a nervous breakdown if I don't get that ring on Cat Deeley's finger."

Then in walks Cat Deeley in her wedding dress, followed by Mariah Carey herself, who is wearing a purple plunging gown. Dec says: "Oh my word, you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen." Cat thinks she is talking to him but he says to Mariah: "I've got all your records, pet," before Cat goes to give him a big wallop around the face.

According to Ant And Dec's 2009 book, Mariah asked the producers what colour the walls were in the Chums flat before they filmed the sketch. It was basically because she wanted to wear a bridesmaids dress the same colours as the walls. Dec tells Cat: "You look saucier than a wheelie bin full of ketchup, you really do. I'm looking forward to having you as my wife."

Ant tells Mariah: "There's another British tradition where the maid of honour gets off with the Best Man. I hope you're going to adhere to this merry old wedding custom." Mariah then punches him in the face before Cat says: "No Mariah, the fights happen at the wedding reception."

Just as Cat and Dec are about to get married, Denise Van Outen bursts in and interrupts the wedding. They think she is pregnant but she has simply had a curry. Amanda Holden then barges in and does a Geordie accent, saying she can't remember why she is interpting the wedding.

Mariah then admits she throws shoes on top of bus shelters and carpet in the middle of roads - and Ant realises they are kindred spirits. Dec and Cat then go to kiss but are interrupted by a catfight between Amanda Holden and Carol Vorderman.

The wedding ends with Dec leaving to find himself before he charges into the room and gives Cat a giant snog, before leaving for good with his best mate, Ant.
