Mariah Carey: possible Oscar nom?
Speaking of the Oscars, one very unlikely Hollywood celeb that may find her name on the Oscar ballot for Best Supporting Actress is Mariah Carey. Huh? Did he just use Mariah Carey and Oscar in the same sentence without referring to music, you ask? Sure did.
Carey's movie Precious (produced by Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry) is taking Hollywood by storm, and insiders are predicting a possible Best Picture nomination for the film. The story revolves around an overweight, illiterate teen in Harlem who is pregnant with her second child. She is invited to enroll in an alternative school in hopes that her life can head in a new direction.
Precious opens in select cities this Friday. Here in Kelowna, we aren't likely to see the film playing until December, but it may open as early as November 20th.
Last night Mariah Carey and the twins popped by The Jay Leno show to talk about the film. Okay, the twins didn't do any actual talking, but if they did it have been: "Look at us! We're even bigger," they'd say. Isn't it time for Mariah to put the twins away once in a while?
Anyway, before Mariah got down the steps to join Jay, she almost face planted as she slipped on a stair with one of her ill-fitted high heels. She made it to the chair and they sat down for a pretty good interview. (Kelowna.com)
