Mariah Carey is escalating the tempo in her war with an ex-assistant, claiming the woman leaked her private medical records and should pay at least $5 million in damages.
In a new supplemental complaint filed in Los Angeles, Carey claims ex-assistant Lianna Azarian divulged her confidential medical history to a media outlet for a series of stories that published in June. At least one of the stories claimed Carey used Azarian's credit card for cosmetic procedures.
"Mariah has learned that Azarian maintains a trove of confidential information, including unauthorized recordings of Mariah," claimed the complaint, which was filed Monday and surfaced Tuesday. "Azarian has not hesitated to weaponize the confidential information she amassed."
Azarian, whose legal last name is Shakhnazaryan, sued Carey for wrongful termination, breach of contract and sexual harassment in January. She claimed the singer failed to pay her owed wages that were part of her alleged $328,500 annual salary.
She claimed Carey oversaw a hostile work environment where the singer's ex-manager Stella Bulochnikov Stolper called Shakhnazaryan derogatory names, slapped her on the buttocks and breasts and caused her to be "urinated upon".
Carey filed a cross-complaint in March, saying none of the alleged abuse could be "fairly attributable" to her. She claims Shakhnazaryan is a disgruntled ex-employee who "was not content with her six-figure compensation" and "set out to further her financial situation by engaging in a series of criminal acts".
In her Monday filing, Carey accused Shakhnazaryan of "secretly filming" her as she "engaged in personal activities which, if revealed, Azarian knew would be personally embarrassing and professionally damaging to Mariah". She claims Shakhnazaryan has shown "those videos to others".
Bulochnikov also filed a cross-complaint that accused Shakhnazaryan of defamation and said the ex-assistant's false allegations led Carey to "prematurely" terminate their management relationship.
Lawyers for Shakhnazaryan and Bulochnikov did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the Daily News. Bulochnikov worked with Carey for years and produced her docuseries "Mariah's World".
